Give me some credit

creditOne of the lessons that I learned when I was a teenager came from watching my sister. I lived with her and her husband in Tujunga, CA and I was there the day she got her first credit card. When she opened up the envelope with her first credit card, she and my brother-in-law were literally jumping for joy. My sister even jumped into his arms. The next thing that happened was new furniture, over spending, debt and bankruptcy.

My sister taught me a huge lesson, and that’s to NEVER get a credit card, like ever ever ever. But that wasn’t the right lesson. You see, here is the lesson that I should have learned. Only spend what you CAN afford to pay back. Don’t max the card in the first week, just buy one thing that you normally couldn’t afford, pay it off, then buy something else.

Last year when I was 44, I decided that I was sick of having no credit. The only way for someone to build their credit is to have a secured credit card, but I could never afford to get one because the bank always wanted $200 or $300. I conveniently got a letter from Bank of America offering me a secured credit card for only $99. I took advantage of that opportunity and sent them $99 and I received my first secured credit card with a credit limit of $500. They told me that I would receive that $99 back in one year, and because I was good about paying back what I spent, they sent it back to me in 9 months and raised my credit to $2000.

I’ve been using a website called Credit Karma to check my credit score, that is it in the image above. 714 and 720. I think that’s pretty good for someone who has only had credit for less than 12 months.

High Impact

Credit Karma gives me tips on how to maintain my good credit, and one of those tips is to only use 30% or less of your credit, and I just so happen to only be using 20% of mine. That is a high impact factor in my credit report. My payment history is excellent at 100% since I have been paying for my credit card on time every month. The bank only asks for $25 payments, but I have been paying $100 a month. Some months I have paid $200. I also have 0 derogatory marks on my credit, which is obviously a good thing.

Medium Impact

My age of credit history is a medium impact, but I cannot help that I only have had credit for a year. The longer you have a credit card, the better that number will be, and it can only get better from here.

Low Impact

I only have 1 credit account, which apparently is a factor in my credit history, and it is not good since I only have 1 credit card. I guess the more credit cards you have, the better, but this is low impact so I am not worried about it since my credit rating is so high. I would be more worried if my credit was in the red, but since this is low impact, I’m not going to worry about it at all. Another low factor is credit inquiries. Zero is ideal, but I have 1 on Equifax and 2 on TransUnion. The reason is because I tried to get a regular credit card last year without having a secured credit card first. They checked my credit and I didn’t have any, so they denied me.

I am not an expert on credit, but I do think that I am doing pretty good for someone who has just begun. I am where I should have been 20 years ago, and I’m actually glad I waited so long because I fear that if I followed my sisters bad behavior, I’d probably have no chance of ever having good credit, and that is not a good thing.

Now, the next thing on my list is to learn to drive. Can a 45 year old learn to drive, and why the heck did I wait so long?

UNIFUN® 10400mAh USB External Travel Battery

20150811_100328The last couple of months have been very difficult. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals with a dead phone. My phone keeps a charge for several hours when I’m at home on the Wi-Fi, but as soon as it switches over to 3G/4G, the battery drains fast. I bring my charger with me, but I may not be lucky enough to get a seat next to a outlet to plug it in, so I have to just deal with my phone dying.

I saw a battery at a store 6 months or so ago, but it was too expensive and I didn’t really need it then. I started to regret not buying it when I actually needed it. I recently went on Amazon to look for a battery and discovered there are many different kinds. I’m actually glad I didn’t buy that one all those months ago, because it may not have been as awesome as the one I found.

I discovered there are many batteries with different capacities. There are 3200mAh up to 20000mAh and I’m sure higher. I chose the UNIFUN® 10400mAh USB External Travel Battery based on the price, the fact that it has a light and that it’s waterproof. I’m really clumsy. I also chose it based on some of the reviews. One reviewer said they were able to charge their phone 3 times with this battery. I too have charged my phone 3 times on 1 single charge, and there was still some power left in the travel battery charger. Our power went out and I had to grab this battery for its light, and boy did it perform better than I expected it to, and it charged my phone while I was using the flashlight.

There are many purchases that I have regretted because I didn’t do research and/or didn’t read the reviews, and I do not regret this purchase at all. It was only $20 with free shipping since my cart was over $35. I think if you need something like this to charge not just one, but 2 devices, and have a light and have it be waterproof, well, this is the portable battery for you.

Warming up to Windows 10

Windows 10 logoI wasn’t happy with Windows 10 when I installed it because it took hours to install, then everything took forever to load. I couldn’t get the Start window to come up, and when it finally did come up, it would go away because I was clicking the Start button too many times in frustration. I also hated the new Start window because when I would try to move things around, the icons would disappear, and then there would be huge gaps with no icons, so I took out ALL icons and just added them again in the order I wanted to see them, like this…

win10startThe first couple of days using Windows 10 was a learning experience, and things have gotten a lot faster since I started. The Start window comes up immediately now and when I click All apps, the list of apps comes up right away, although, there are times when it takes a few seconds longer, but I’m patient.

Now the only thing that still concerns me is Microsoft Money. Someone tweeted me a link to a blog that tells me that all I have to do is go into my Registry and change something, which isn’t always the best idea, especially coming from a stranger. Oh sure stranger, I’ll screw things up even more, thank you. And the sad thing is I went into my registry and looked for that string, but it wasn’t there. I’m actually glad I didn’t find it because it would’ve been a disaster if I screwed things up and had to start over again. I hope Microsoft comes up with an update to fix this issue so I can use MS Money again.

This is the error message I am getting when I load MS Money.

money needs ie6When I started using Windows 8.1, I wasn’t using the browser to use Facebook, Facebook Pages Manager or Twitter, I was using the Windows apps instead. Gradually those apps stopped loading quickly until they just stopped loading at all. Eventually I had to go back to using the browser.

When I installed Windows 10, those apps load quickly, and in a small window. In fact, all of the apps, including Windows Edge, their new browser, all open in a small square window. I have a widescreen monitor, not a square one, not that Windows really cares. But still, when I use Edge, I have to stretch it on both sides to see everything on the website. When I close the website and Edge reloads when I click a link, it opens in that square box again. Not that that is a real issue for me, I don’t really care about that. I’m not bitching about anything, I’m just saying this is what’s happening when I open Edge.

I had mixed feelings before installing, and I was outraged after I installed, but I’m warming up to the new version of Windows and believe it or not, I’m happy I installed it.

For anyone who just installed Windows 10 without burning it on a DVD, you should probably think about downloading the ISO file for both 32bit and 64bit and burning them to a DVD or putting it on a USB drive. They give you both options. You’ll regret not doing so if/when the day comes when you have to reformat or even if you buy a new hard drive and you have to reinstall Windows 8.1 and then upgrade back to Windows 10. After a year, you won’t have the option to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. It’s just a suggestion, and trust me, you will thank me later.

Windows 10

Windows 10 logoI love change. Whenever there is something new, I’m usually one of the first on the bandwagon to try it, that is if I can afford it. It took me 14 years to finally upgrade from Windows XP, only because I couldn’t afford Vista, then Windows 7. I only upgraded to Windows 8.1 because I was forced to by Microsoft threatening “If you don’t upgrade, you will get a virus.”

A few people have told me how much they absolutely hate Windows 8.1 and that I would hate it too based on the fact that I still had Windows XP. Well, they didn’t really know why I was still on XP, read the paragraph above if you forgot. I actually loved Windows 8.1.

When Microsoft announced they were giving away their new upgrade Windows 10, I jumped on the bandwagon. I knew it would be different and that they took away the Start window and replaced it with a more compact one, which I actually don’t mind that much, although I did prefer the bigger start menu that took up the entire screen.

Okay, so here are my complaints. First of all, I couldn’t even install it because I had too much crap on my computer, so I uninstalled a bunch of things and believe it or not, that didn’t even put a dent in it. The programs with several gigabytes were gone, but the gigabytes were still used somehow. I backed up all of my pictures and documents onto 4 DVD’s, and it’s a good thing I did because OneDrive is gone. It’s nowhere to be seen. I am so glad I backed all that stuff up. Where did OneDrive go? After I backed everything up, I went to do all the Windows Updates I could because it’s been giving me crap for months. Every night it tells me to either shut down and update or restart and update. I never just get shut down or restart. When it does do the updates, it starts up saying it couldn’t complete the updates, undoing changes. So I let it do all the updates even though they said it couldn’t complete them.

I finally started the upgrade at 9pm and it finished at 1:30am. I never thought it would take that long to upgrade. I thought at the most I’d be finished by 11pm and then I’d have a few minutes to check it out before going to bed, but that wasn’t how it worked out. I did stay up until 2am checking it out, and discovered how much I actually hate it because of how slow it was.

Today I woke up and turned the computer on and for some reason decided that I needed to add a bunch of receipts in my pocket to Microsoft Money, but I got this message.

money needs ie6Ugh! Windows 10 doesn’t have Internet Explorer anymore, they’ve switched their browser to Microsoft Edge. So that screws things up for me. I use Microsoft Money every day instead of a check register because at least this program calculates my balance every time I enter a purchase. Now what do I do? And I have a feeling I’m going to have trouble with a lot of programs that may require Internet Explorer to be installed.

When I click the Start button, sometimes it takes a few minutes to bring the start menu up, and when I click an icon, it darkens and nothing happens. The app or program may take a few minutes to load and then the icon goes back to normal, or the icon may go back to normal and the app or program still never loads.

I know I’m complaining, a lot, but I mean come on, if you’re going to put out an operating system, make sure everything works lol. Then again, perhaps it did work on their brand new computers. And perhaps some people who installed the upgrade may not be having the same issues I’m complaining about, but then again there may be some people who are having a worse experience than I am having. Everyone has a different experience based on their system, because like fingerprints, we all have something different. A different video card brand or model, a different motherboard brand or model, a different ram size, brand or model, a different hard drive size, brand or model.

It would be awesome if everything worked the way it should, but if it doesn’t, well, you just have to either deal with it, or go back to the way things were when everything worked right. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

D&D Starter Set

20150724_113040_3rd StIt has taken a couple of weeks, but I have nearly everything I need to play a game of D&D with my Wilderness tiles that my partner bought for me at Barnes & Noble. When he first bought me the Wilderness tiles, I thought that it was a starter set because it said on the back

“For use with these Dungeons & Dragons products:

Dungeons & Dragons Fantasy Roleplaying Game Starter Set

Dungeon Master’s Kit

Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures

Other Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Tiles sets.”

I guess I just misunderstood because I thought it came with all those things, I guess I just wasn’t thinking. Oh well. At any rate, I have bought a few things on that list. I went to Amazon and bought the Starter set which came with the starter set rulebook you see in the picture along with the blue dice and another book called Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is a walkthrough quest with maps that I can scan and add to an app on my Nook called 3D Virtual Tabletop. It’s just easier to do that since the maps aren’t very big to play on in the booklet. The starter set also came with some character sheets which I actually printed last year and put in my notebook. Yes, I have a notebook with line and graph paper that I printed since my printer offers that option.

20150714_16044120150714_160912_3rd St20150720_171424_3rd St

The miniatures that I bought aren’t all miniature, even though they say they are on Amazon and even on the packaging. Some of the green and grey ones are heroes and some are monsters, and oddly enough some are cavemen lol. The skeletons are a bit smaller and I’ll probably get more use out of those. I also bought from Michaels a set called “Knights and Dragons.” It comes with 4 knights with a red and gold flag and shields and 4 knights with a blue and gold flag and shields. They are all wearing silver armor and 1 of each has a guy sitting on a horse. Oh and it comes with a catapult and a little dragon lol.

20150724_115301I also bought a D&D Lego guy. I thought I was getting a set of 12, because that’s what the picture showed, but I guess I was wrong because I only got 1. He’s called a fighter and has a sword. I think what I’ll do is say he’s my main tank and the guys in the silver armor are the other characters. I also have a Lego Minecraft Steve and zombie as well as a Lego Robin from Batman and Robin. That one is a keychain, so of course I’ll have to remove that.

The wizard that I bought on Amazon isn’t exactly what I was looking for, but he does fit and he does look cool, so I guess I did good. I was looking for a gnome wizard, actually I was looking for anything in gnome size, but all I saw were miniature garden gnomes. That’s not exactly what I had in mind. This guy is actually a hell wizard named Damien lol. He even has a demon tail. He’s all white because he is meant to be painted. Yeah, that’s never going to happen. I don’t exactly have steady hands. His eyes will be way off if I tried. He’ll look either cross-eyed, or one eye will be looking up and the other will be looking to the left. Either way, I’m fine with him being all white. It would be cool if his coat and staff were brown and his base was green. I wish I had more patience and a steady hand.

I’m not quite ready to play yet because I still have to finish the starter set rule book and then I want to start reading the Lost Mine of Phandelver book and play according to the directions. I also want to read the Players Handbook because the Starter Set rule book didn’t give me ALL the information I think I need to start playing. I like to be thorough. Also, I’m having a hard time getting started, not just as the DM since I’m playing by myself, but also as a person who is playing 5 characters lol.

Screenshot_2015-07-28-21-29-58 1It would be awesome if I had some people to play with. I have an app on my Nook called 3D Virtual Tabletop, and that allows me to use existing characters and existing places (like a tavern or house) or I can upload my own pictures, which I did. I scanned all the maps from the Lost Mine of Phandelver book and imported them into the app. 1 square = 5 feet, so I had to put a 5×5 grid into each square. I asked someone if that is right and they said yes.

I saw on the character sheets that each character has 5 or 10 gold, so I figured it would be easier to keep track of who has how much gold by actually having gold in a little pouch, so I looked online for days for pictures of gold and silver coins to print so I could glue them onto cardboard, but then I thought about play coins, so I Googled plastic gold coins and found them at Party City, so I went and bought a pack of 144 gold coins and a pack of 72 silver coins. I was looking for Gold Doubloons, but they only had gold casino coins with dollar signs on them. The silver coins have pirate ships on them, so those are at least a little more authentic. I was also looking for copper, but they didn’t have any of those. I figure I’ll just sand some of the gold coins to create copper since they are gold painted on black plastic. Maybe I can buy some copper paint.

I hate that it has taken me this long to want to learn to play the game. When I was 15 years old and my step father kicked me out of the house (aka trailer), I moved in with a schoolmate who lived with his older brother who worked. One day they were playing D&D and asked if I wanted to play, but I didn’t know how because I’d never played before, and I didn’t want to play because I already had a target on my back for being gay, I didn’t want the target to get bigger because I was playing D&D, which everyone thought at the time (1985) that it was a satanic game and that players were all in satanic cults and were killing animals for sacrifice for their game. I really wish I had more of a back bone and was able to stand up to the bullies, but that’s all in the past and better late than never.

This is going to be fun learning and playing and I hope I can get a lot out of this game so I can use it to write my fantasy fiction novel. Writing fiction was a dream I’ve had since I was a kid, so I hope this works to get me started with my writing.

Dungeons & Dragons Wilderness Tiles

D&D tiles

I am still waiting for my dice, which is supposed to be here by Monday, my D&D starter set and all my miniatures, which will be here on Wednesday. In the meantime, I thought it would be prudent to start putting together the Wilderness tiles. These are really difficult because there are so many pieces that are pretty busy heh. They are 2 sided and some of them are just plain old grass with rocks and trees on them, but there are also some pretty neat tiles with towers and houses and huts. There are more than a few tiles of fires, which I assume are all trees on fire, but I won’t be using those because they are too busy. Although, I may use one burning bush to add a element of danger. We’ll see.

The thing I love about these tiles is that they are so colorful and thick and hard like a regular board game. The thing I hate about the tiles is that they aren’t interconnecting like a puzzle. The reason is because they slide around the table so much and it’s difficult to keep the pieces together. If I were to start playing with this, I would have to either hold my breath every time I move a miniature, or buy one of those rubber liners you put under rugs to keep them from sliding around on the hardwood floor. I think the latter.

I’m not sure I like layout that I have chosen so far, but when I buy a rubber rug liner, I’ll redo the whole thing so it doesn’t look so busy. I am not quite sure how I will place the pieces though. I tried to Google the Dungeons & Dragons wilderness tile set and I found a bunch of pictures and a few YouTube videos, but they were basically unboxing videos where they said “Oooh I’m opening a box. Oooh look at the tiles.” Okay so they didn’t say ooh, but you know what I mean. The pictures didn’t have any finished boards, so I couldn’t really see how other people put their tile set together. I would love to get some inspiration, so it would be awesome if someone showed me how they put theirs together. Of course I won’t copy theirs, I just want to see how I can improve mine.

There is still a lot of time before I get my packages, but I would like to have this tile thing finished before then so I can dig in to my new adventure so I can get a head start on my book.

Dungeons & Dragons

D&D The Wilderness Tiles

Call me excited! I am finally buying the things I need to write my fantasy fiction novel based on my character from the game EverQuest. I’m going to be using the Dungeons & Dragons style of gameplay to write most of the book. The reason is because I have a somewhat okay imagination, but it’s not that good that I can just start saying “this guy did this with his blade” and “that guy did that with his staff” and “this enchanter cast this spell on the orc.” I played EverQuest for many years, but I never really paid too much attention to the mechanics of the game. I kept all the battle spam out of the guild/group chat window.

dwarven steel D&D diceMy partner actually bought me this tile set at Barnes & Noble today. I actually read the description on the back wrong. I thought it said it included the D&D starter set, the Dungeon Master’s kit, Miniatures and tile sets, but it just has the Wilderness tile set. Last week I bought these dice from someone on Etsy, it includes a bracelet lol. I just want the dice, but I can give the bracelet away. The dice just shipped today and they said it should be here by next Monday. UGH! Well, I’ve waited all these years to get started, I can wait another week.

I decided that I wanted to buy some other things that are also important when playing, or learning to play Dungeons and Dragons, such as the starter kit and some miniatures, which are what I thought came with the Wilderness tiles. The starter kit will come with its own pair of dice, but I figured they would probably be plain white or something, so I don’t regret buying the extra dice from Etsy.  I also bought 3 sets of miniatures. Fantasy Figures, Army Builder and Skeleton Warriors. I figure the army builder one will be the characters in my story, the fantasy figures will be the bad guys which I will place in random spots on the tiles, and same with the skeleton warriors.

army builderfantasy figuresskeleton warriorsstarter kit

I didn’t realize it at first, but the army builder characters are lego characters heh. That’s fine, they don’t have to all be the same exact thing, as long as they fit on the wilderness tiles and don’t fall down, it’ll be fine. Now all I need is a good story that won’t bore anyone to death.

New Samsung Galaxy III

samsung galaxy s3

My new Samsung Galaxy SIII from FreedomPop finally arrived via FedEx today. I am very happy with it because it actually installs the apps. The Refurbished Samsung Galaxy SIII (white one) that I bought from NoMoreRack now Choxi would allow me to install apps, but it just didn’t install all the files, only 1 file. It also didn’t allow me to tweet pictures. I did have some sound issues, but that cleared up after some tweaking with the settings.

This new phone actually installed Terraria and Minecraft PE and I can actually play the games without any problem. Although, now that I had to start over with the new phone, I have to start new worlds and characters, but that’s ok, I didn’t really have that much time invested in the game on the white one anyway.

What really pisses me off is that I spent $99 on this phone from NoMoreRack, and it turned out to be a piece of dog poop and I lost my money because I broke the phone before I could send it back for a full refund. I should have handled it differently and just sent the phone back and gotten a brand new one from FreedomPop instead. Oh well, it’s a learning experience.

The only issue that I am having with this new phone is the call quality. I mean, it’s a phone, you would think that a phone would be able to make phone calls and the call quality would be excellent since that’s it’s main purpose. They do offer premium voice quality for an extra $3.99 every month with a free trial, which I have activated only because what’s the point of a phone if people can’t hear you? My service was unlimited voice and text for $5 a month and unlimited data for $15 a month, so you get what you pay for with the voice. I’ll gladly pay $4 more so people can actually hear me talk.

I’m sure this phone will last me a long time, just as long as I don’t lose or break it.

Update: Ok so I’m having a bit of an issue with this new phone. First off, it rebooted once, and I started to freak out because that’s what my HTC One V was doing, which is why I had to buy a new phone. Then it just started shutting off on its own. The other night as I was going to bed I went to look at my phone one last time and it was off. I tried to turn it back on but it wouldn’t come on. It showed that the battery was completely drained, which I knew for a fact it wasn’t dead. I kept trying and it would show the battery as being dead, but then it would come on and show that the battery was 3/4 full, then it would show me the Samsung logo, then it shut off again. I was really freaking out. It was a good thing I saved the battery from the other one that I bought from NoMoreRack. I switched the battery and I haven’t had an issue with it turning off or rebooting on its own since. So basically FreedomPop sent me a bad battery.

The other issue I’m having is that when I called my aunt when I first got the phone, she told me that I was breaking up, so I had to call her on the landline. I noticed they have for $3.99 more per month an upgrade called Premium voice, so I bought that, but little did I know it has nothing to do with the issue that I am having. phone bars This is my problem, I have no bars in the house. If I ever want to call someone, I have to go outside and make sure I have enough bars, and when I was talking to my aunt, I WAS outside, and I was breaking up out there. So that means that I have to not only leave the house, but walk to Albertson’s where the cell tower is to be able to talk to her. I mean, I could just call her on the landline, but I have a cell phone for a reason lol. I’d like to be able to call people when my partner is using the landline.

So those are my problems. I solved 1 problem, and I tried to solve the 2nd problem at $4 extra per month, but now my problem is bars. Ugh! I can’t win. The only way I will have good service is if I have Verizon or AT&T. My phone is FreedomPop, but it uses the Sprint network, which apparently doesn’t give me any bars. I can’t afford anything else. My voice and text is $5 a month, now $9 a month with the premium voice. I guess like everything else in my life, I’ll just deal with it.

King’s Quest for PS4

King's Quest

I am SOOOOO excited right now. I saw a post on Facebook earlier this year that King’s Quest is coming back to life. The person who posted it was one of the people who was working on the game who works for The Odd Gentlemen. They said it would be out later this year, but couldn’t give me a date. I was under the assumption it would be late in the year, like around Christmas time, but I’m excited that it’s going to be THIS MONTH in July instead.

For those who have no clue what King’s Quest is, I urge you to buy the original PC collection which can be found on Amazon. The original PC collection works with XP, but I’m sure it will work in Windows 8, but I don’t know that for a fact. I have the earlier version that only worked on Windows 95/98 and wouldn’t work on XP at all. I had to find a program which I blogged about that has Sierra installers to allow the games to install and run. So if you have trouble installing the XP version, try the installers. If not then awesome, but you should really play the old versions. My first King’s Quest game was King’s Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella.

Anyway, the game is going to be out in 26 days and I will count the days like it’s my birthday lol.

PlayStation Vue

PlayStation-Vue

I am very interested in a new feature that PlayStation has to offer called PlayStation Vue. It’s a new live streaming service on your PlayStation device that allows you to watch TV at a cheaper rate than cable.

This is what we have at our house. We have a bundle with Bright House with TV, Internet and Phone. I know that our cable internet is around $15 a month and our phone isn’t too much more expensive than that. Including the cable box in the living room which is $8 a month and the DVR cable box in my bedroom which is also $8 a month, our cable comes to $130 a month.  That’s a bit much for cable, but that’s how it is. They charge more for HDTV and we had to have certain packages because we have HDTV’s in both rooms.

With PlayStation Vue, I would have to use my PlayStation 4 to watch TV, which isn’t a bad thing because I use my PS4 all day long anyway with game play and watching Netflix and Hulu Plus, so to have another service keeping my PS4 running is convenient considering I have to grab the TV remote control to change from HDMI 1 for the PS4 to HDMI 2 for the cable. I wouldn’t have to go through that if I had PlayStation Vue.

They have a DVR function so that you can record ALL of your shows with NO conflicts, and you don’t have to worry about it recording on your PlayStation, it stays in the cloud for up to 28 days. As it is right now, if I want to record something, fine, I get to watch it when I want to, but my partner doesn’t have that option since he has a regular cable box. If he wants to record something, he has to watch it in my room.

My concern with switching from cable to PlayStation Vue is that we have 2 TV’s, and only 1 PS4. PlayStation has another device called PlayStation TV which allows you to play PlayStation Vita games with a PS3 controller, but PlayStation Vue is not available for that. If my partner wants to watch TV, he would have to use his iPad since there is an iPad app, but he wouldn’t be able to watch it on his TV. He has a Google Chromecast, but I’m not sure if that works with his iPad since we haven’t hooked it up yet. And even if it does work, will it work with PlayStation Vue? Also, would he be able to use his iPad while PlayStation Vue is streaming on his TV? Questions! Concerns!

If we were to switch from cable to PlayStation Vue, we would be saving $60 a month, that is if I chose the Elite package, which I would considering Logo isn’t available on the other 2 packages. They mention at E3 that you would be able to choose which channels you want, so if that is true then I would consider their less expensive Access or Core packages. Money is always tight, and I hate spending so much money on cable that I very rarely even watch. I don’t NOT watch TV, in fact, I have a huge list of shows that I watch, but I don’t watch TV all day long. It also concerns me that they don’t have every channel that is available, like for example where is ABC? And how will I watch Salem without WGN? What about The CW? Most of my shows are on The CW.

This new service is only available in certain zip codes anyway, and we are not in any of those zip codes since we are in Bakersfield, CA, but I’m sure the day will come when we will be able to use this service. I’m sure by then those channels MAY become available, but who knows for sure.

I told my partner about this new service and he just looked at me, like don’t even think about it lol. We were going to go cable free several years ago when we bought 2 Roku boxes, but realized there was no live TV, so if he wanted to watch his live news shows, he would be out of luck. They also didn’t have every episode of his news channel, they only had clips. He doesn’t want clips, he wants to watch entire episodes, and preferably live. Well, with PlayStation Vue he can see live TV, but he just doesn’t want to take the leap because it is too complicated, and he prefers things that are easy. And again, he doesn’t have a PlayStation, nor does he want to have to stream live TV from his iPad to the Google Chromecast, if that would even work. If it doesn’t work, then he doesn’t want to have to watch TV from his iPad and not be able to do anything else with it. It’s just too much of a hassle for him, and I understand. But perhaps if they made it available on PlayStation TV, and gave him a remote control instead of a PS3 controller, then he may consider it, but until then, he just wants to keep things simple.

So, I’m excited about it, but him not so much. But I think this is something that would be easier for someone who lives alone with 1 TV anyway. Unless every TV in the house has a PlayStation, this isn’t going to work for couples or a family unless they can make this service available on the PlayStation TV, which if you think about it is probably the best device for PlayStation Vue. I don’t know, tell me what you think in the comments.
