Fridays Fajitas

Are you tired of the boring freezer dinners at the grocery store but don’t want to have to spend a fortune going out to a restaurant?  YES!  That is a question I ask myself practically on a daily basis.  I am so excited that T.G.I. Fridays meals are available at the grocery store because I love going to T.G.I. Fridays but we don’t get to go there very often.  First of all, they are so popular that it can take half an hour or longer just to get a table and I really hate waiting.

My diet has gotten so boring and I’ve seen these T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One” in the freezer section at Target for only $2.79 each and I bought a couple.  I was actually quite excited when I saw these because it gives me the chance to eat restaurant food at home.

I bought the Sizzling Chicken Fajitas (picture above) and I’m not really a huge fan of onions or bell peppers but if they are cooked enough then they don’t really bother me.  I figured that T.G.I. Fridays wouldn’t give me under cooked food so I took the chance and I’m glad I did because it was really good.

I also bought the Grilled Chicken Mac & Cheese (left picture below).  If you know me then you know that I am a macaroni and cheese fanatic.  I have loved mac and cheese since i was a kid and I think it will my be my favorite until the day I die.  The other brands in the frozen section are good, one brand in particular is my favorite but it’s so expensive.  The T.G.I. Fridays grilled chicken mac and cheese is SO much better.  It’s not too much food and it has chicken.  The cheese is a different flavor which is perfect because it’s not so boring.

I also bought some T.G.I. Fridays snacks.  I bought the potato skins with cheddar and bacon and steak quesadillas. (right picture below).  Hey, we can’t have T.G.I. Fridays without appetizers.  I mean seriously.

Hey, did you know that T.G.I. Fridays is having a Fun Freezer contest on their Facebook page?  All you have to do is decorate your freezer, take a picture and enter it in the contest and hopefully win one of a few prizes, it’s really that simple.

So what are you waiting for?  Go to the freezer section of your grocery store and pick up some of these “entrees for one” for dinner tonight.

Freschetta Simply Inspired Pizza

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FRESCHETTA® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Freschetta Pizza Simply Inspired - Chicken Bianco

Pizza has been one of my favorite foods since I was a kid.  There are so many toppings to choose from when you are buying for delivery but it doesn’t seem like the frozen section has too many topping combinations.  FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ thin crust pizza comes in 8 distinctive varieties that are all made from fresh ingredients like roasted bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, all real cheese and a thin crust which is better for your diet.

Speaking of diets, when I am dieting, it’s best to buy a pizza with a thinner crust because it has less calories.  Well, these Simply Inspired pizzas from Freschetta are really low cal.  Check it out, this Chicken Bianco pizza is only 360 calories for 1/3rd of the pizza.  That’s so great because normally they say 1 slice is 1 serving.  1/3rd of the pizza is what, 3 slices?  So you’re getting 3x the pizza!

I have bought the regular Freschetta rising crust pizzas and I love them.  The quality and taste of the ingredients is what makes Freschetta the better pizza.  And wouldn’t you know it, they are green, no not the colors of the ingredients, the packaging.  The Fresch-Taste seal locks in the vibrant flavors of the pizza and it uses 30% less packaging.

Better get the Chicken Bianco and Tuscan Farmhouse soon because it’s not going to be around for very long.  Trust me, they are really good.  You won’t want to miss out on them.  My opinion is that Freschetta is the superior frozen pizza that you and your family will love without any of the guilt.

Surprise, It’s Dinner

Darrin surprised me tonight and took me to a sit down restaurant.  Normally to me a sit down restaurant is like Denny’s or Hometown Buffet or China Town Buffet or well, anywhere that doesn’t have a drive-thru.

So we went to Los Molcajetes Restaurant over on Brundage Lane in Bakersfield, CA.  I’d never been there before but we’ve passed it maybe a thousand times since we’ve been in Bakersfield.

First of all, I’m a very picky eater.  That means Mexican food is usually one of those foods that I gotta be careful with because if I don’t ask exactly what I’m getting I’m gonna get everything I don’t want.  I absolutely detest the taste of onions, bell peppers, any kind of hot sauce, sour cream and avocado (or guacamole).  I ordered a ground beef burrito and specifically mentioned no onions, bell peppers, avocado or sour cream since those 4 ingredients were in the pictures near the burritos.  I just wanted to make sure I didn’t get those.

Darrin ordered shredded beef enchiladas.  I don’t know how his food was but as soon as I put the first bite into my mouth the first thing that I said was “wow, it’s too salty”.  I’m not very big on salt either lol.  It’s a good thing too because if I had put salt on my food I would’ve been pissed because of the salt overload.

Darrin ordered an iced tea for his drink and he was complaining that it was too weak, he even had me taste it (pre-sweetened).  I didn’t really notice.  I would’ve probably noticed more if it had been sweetened first.  I’m not a huge fan of iced tea without sugar or equal in it.  After his 2nd glass was brought to him and he sweetened it, the waiter came back and he told him how weak it was and the waiter said “oh well we have stronger” which was a lie, he brought back another glass of iced tea that looked darker but Darrin said it was the same.  He also brought a glass filled with ice lol.  Who asked for that?

Besides the salt overload and the weak tea it was a pretty decent meal.  I can’t say I will be begging to go back anytime soon though.  But I guess when someone takes you to dinner you can’t complain especially when I am broke lol.

Oh one more thing, I was so full and when we went to the cashier at the end I was being stupid and asked where the vomitorium was (because I was full, not because it wasn’t good) and the cashier gave me a blank stare.  She said what’s that?  I said “what’s a vomitorium?”  She said yeah.  I was like damn are you gonna make me explain my stupid jokes?  Gawd, I really hate it when people don’t get my humor.  I told her it was from the roman days and she asked what it was for and I said well, er um… vomiting.  She then pointed to the bathroom and said it’s there lol.  I then had to say “I was joking” and she said oh lol.  Oy vey!

Picky Eater

I was a picky eater as a kid.  I can remember all the way back to when I was about 3 or 4 years old and my mom made some meatloaf and it had tons of onions and green bell peppers and I tasted them and they just did not taste good to me so I picked them all out and only ate the meat.  Well, my parent’s wouldn’t let me leave the table until all that stuff was gone.  I think I sat there for about 4 hours staring at it.  I just absolutely refused to eat it.

As I grew up I found out that I hated other things like yogurt and American cheese.  There were some things I hated but I felt that I should compromise with my mom and just eat them like the greens.  I loved spinach because Popeye ate spinach so I had to have it.  And not fresh but from the can and it didn’t matter to me if it was heated up.  You never saw Popeye crush his spinach can then pour it into a pot and heat it on the stove.  No, he ate it straight from the can.

My mom learned my likes and dislikes for food and so she would cook for the family but also cook for me.  When she made potato salad she would put about 3/4 of the ingredients in a big bowl and the rest in a little bowl for me and she would put all the crap in the big bowl but be selective for me.  My step dad on the other hand, he would purposely put onions and bell peppers in my food but hidden so I wouldn’t see them so when I bit into the food I’d get a big bite of onions.  Bastard.

But this post isn’t about me.  Oh no, it’s about my dog.  Dogs are normally always hungry.  You can give them whatever and they will eat it with no problem.  Within reason though.  But you give them something to eat and they don’t even give themselves time to chew it, they swallow it whole.  Not my dog.  Oh no.  She’s a toy chihuahua.  She used to do that but then she learned I guess and so she smells the people food first before she eats it.

I’ve given her hot dogs (1/2 a hot dog) in the past, I slice them lengthwise to quarter them then I cut the slices so they are little tiny pieces she can chew.  She normally likes hot dogs.  But all of a sudden now she sniffs them and looks up at me as if to say “you got anything else?”.

Yeah, how about your dog food?  Oh that’s another thing.  I’ve bought her 2 different brands of dog food, she hates it.  She will only eat the cats food.  Her dog food has different colors like yellow, orange, brown, green.  She picks through them with her nose and pushes all the brown ones out and she only eats the colored ones.  OMG this is the pickiest dog ever.

I gave her half of a hot dog knowing she might turn her nose up on it and of course she did.  I thought well maybe she wants to be hand fed so I gave her a piece and she took it but then spit it out lol.  So I gave her a little bit of some life cereal which she ate all of.  Whatever dog lol.  Whatever.  I’m eating some macaroni and cheese with cut up hot dogs in it and she’s staring at me like “can I have some?” but she’s not getting any.
