Gay Kiss in True Blood

Last night during True Blood there was something that was probably very shocking to some viewers of the show.  Lafayette and his mothers male nurse Jesus shared a kiss in his car.  Then they went to Lafayette’s house and started to kiss before drug dealers bashed in all the windows of his brand new car that Eric bought for him as a gift.

At first I was giddy because I was happy for Lafayette for finally being able to have a boyfriend but then I started to think, that was a very risky thing for the show to do.  It’s one thing to have a gay character but then to have him flaunt it on screen might drive some of the viewers away.  I along with the entire gay community who actually watch the show were probably so thrilled to see this happen but I can just imagine all the clicking sounds of the remote control in all the anti-gay homes.

I’m sure the writers knew what they were getting into when they wrote that into the script and I applaud them for that.  However, many people out there are still very anti-gay and would probably ban watching the show henceforth.

I personally love that there is not only a gay character but he’s getting action on screen.  Good for him, good for True Blood, good for us who care to see that on our tv’s.  It shows that if straight people are bold enough to push their sexuality in our gay faces that we should be able to do the same thing and get away with it just as they have gotten away with it since the inception of television.

Unfortunately, when Jesus found out that Lafayette was a drug dealer who dealt not only Crystal Meth but also “V” (vampire blood), the date was over, he wanted to be driven back to Merlotte’s for his car so he can leave.  Oh well, it didn’t last very long.  Maybe Lafayette will get another love interest in the show in the future.

True Blood

Wow, this show is a roller coaster ride.  Every time I watch it I’m like whoa.

In season 1 when grams died I was in shock.  I just wasn’t expecting them to kill her off and so soon in the show too.  Then it just seemed like every episode I was left with whoa, that happened didn’t it?

Season 2 is the same.  It’s like they have this formula that just works and you can’t escape it.  It’s as though the creators of this show have glamoured me just like a vampire can glamor people.

Now Sookie has a new power with her hands but it has only worked on Mary Ann so far.  She didn’t even know she had this and perhaps it’s because she didn’t need to know she had it because it only works on 1 person which is the demon Mary Ann.  Actually she needs to know how to control it so it would’ve been good for her to know she had it so she could figure out how to use it.  Although if it only works on Mary Ann then she wouldn’t be able to practice but when she does need it I’m sure she will be able to figure it out on the spot.  Trial and error I guess.

Boy has Sookie missed some shit up in her crib while she was gone in Texas.  If she stayed she would’ve probably been killed because Mary Ann probably wouldn’t have been able to glamor her.

I would like to know where all the Bon Temps vampires are and why they didn’t contact their sheriff Eric to tell him that some shit’s goin’ down lol.  I know Bill isn’t the only one in Bon Temps.

Well, I love the show and I hate that they only have 12 episodes.  Too bad they don’t have a regular season at the same time as all the network channels do from September/October to May.  24 episodes per season would be awesome lol.  I think it would be neat to have a Halloween and Christmas episode don’t you?

Video On Demand

I don’t know if it’s just Bright House cable or not.  I’m sure it’s not although I asked my aunt if she had “On Demand” with her Direct TV and she said she doesn’t know what that is.

For those who do not live in Bakersfield, CA and do not have Bright House cable or any other service provider that doesn’t have On Demand, it’s the best thing since the DVR.

In fact you don’t even need to own a DVR for this.  Hell, you can just toss out your VCR for that matter.

You just flip to the On Demand channel of choice.  Take for example Primetime On Demand.  They have all the networks, CBS, FX, NBC, USA just to name a few.  You choose the network of the show you want to watch.  Then once it has a list of all that networks shows then you scroll to find your show and click Select then find the episode you want to watch and push the B button to play it.  It  has very very limited commercial interruption too.  Like instead of having to wait 2 or 3 minutes you just have to endure a 30 second commercial here and there.  That’s it.

It’s not just Primetime on Demand.  There is HBO and Showtime on Demand which will allow you to watch all the movies you have missed when they aired and you can pause, rewind and even fast forward.  If you missed True Blood then wait until the next day and see it on demand.  Or if you were just a half an hour late just click the Select button for the Start Over feature.  You can’t forward in that mode, just pause but that’s ok, you don’t want to cheat now do you?

The reason I brought it up is because I missed Merlin last night on NBC but they don’t have last nights episode there.  I checked the tv guide website and apparently there was no episode last night so I gotta wait another week lol.  That kinda bites but whacha gonna do eh?

True Blood Beverage

It’s happening.  The show True Blood on HBO is coming out with an actual beverage that you can buy.  Although it has no actual blood in it but it is an orange soda.

trublood

Downside is that it only comes in a 4 pack and the price is outrageous.  The asking price for this 4 pack is $16 plus shipping charge of $9.  I’m not sure if it’s going to be in stores or not but at that price I probably won’t buy it.  They need to come down just a LOT before I will buy it.  I can’t see paying $16 for a 4 pack when I can just buy a 2 liter bottle of Fanta and probably get the same exact taste.  After all, with TruBlood you are paying for the name, not the flavor.

At that price I would rather it did have blood inside of it.

True Blood Season 1 Finale

Tonight was the season finale of True Blood on HBO.  I was glad they finally found the murderer and Jason got out of jail.  Poor Lafayette didn’t have a good ending though.  They ended it with Andy finding a dead body in the back of his car (poor Lafayette).  He was such a good character.  Maybe he will come back next year as a vampire though.  The person who was the actual murderer of all the women including the grandmother was the last person I thought would be the bad guy and he deserved what he got.

At the end of the episode they said that they are currently in production for another season which will aire in the summer of 2009 so I’m glad this didn’t get canceled.

Edit: Boy was I wrong, I thought for sure it was Lafayette in the back of Andy’s car but thank goodness it wasn’t.

True Blood on HBO

True Blood was a nice addition to the vampire world.  However, I’m not sure I like the direction they are going.  Last week at the end of the episode I was just pissed off that they killed Sookie’s grandmother.  Her character gave the show real southern charm.  I thought she was a great character because even though she was an older woman she wasn’t prejudice against the vampires like all the other people her or near her age.  And her curiosity for vampires is what got her killed.

I still like the show, I’m just a little upset right now.  Every time I see something bad happen to a main character I think it’s a dream or a prediction but then they don’t wake up and it’s real.  I hope they don’t kill too many more main characters cause the cast is dwindling down very fast lol.

The 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards

The Emmy’s are on tonight and we’re going to watch it tonight.  I normally don’t watch the awards shows but I decided it would be ok to watch it.  I may have to play Star Wars Battlefront during the boring parts though lol.

I’m so glad HBO has 17 channels instead of one because I was able to watch True Blood at 6pm (Eastern Time) because it would normally be on here at 9pm on the west coast.  It’s actually on at 6pm, 7:30 and 9pm.  But since the Emmy’s are on at 8pm (red carpet from 6-8) I don’t have to miss True Blood until it goes on On Demand.

New Season of Shows – Fall 2008

Finally summer is nearly over and my shows can come back.  This season I have shows 6 days a week again.  Mostly I have 1 show a night but some nights there are 2 shows.

Sunday: I only have 1 show and that’s True Blood on HBO.  If for some reason I miss it I don’t have to worry because of HBO On Demand.

Monday: Heroes and Chuck are coming back for season 2.  I also watch Medium on CBS but that show starts in January 2009.

Tuesday: As of right now I have nothing on for Tuesdays but Reaper is supposed to be coming back in January 2009.

Wednesday: I have 2 shows on at the same time on different networks.  Knight Rider which will be on NBC and Pushing Daisies which is on ABC.  I watched the first season of Pushing Daisies so I’m gonna have to choose that over Knight Rider but thank goodness there is such a thing as On Demand because I will be able to watch Knight Rider on the NBC website whenever I want to.

Thursday: Smallville & Supernatural.  Those 2 shows I’ve watched since they began so naturally I’m going to watch these.  I read this will be the last season for Smallville.  It was supposed to be Clark Kent’s childhood (or teenage years) and he’s way past 21 so it looks like it’s nearly time for Superman to emerge on the scene which will mean the end of Smallville.

Friday: Ghost Whisperer.

Ok, so I was wrong when I said 6 days of shows, well, half wrong because Reaper is coming back in January so only half of the season will be 5 days a week.  That is unless there’s another strike preventing me from watching shows then they get canceled lol.  I don’t think it will happen again for another 10 or 20 years since the last strike was 20 years ago.

True Blood

Tonight was the 2nd episode of a new show on HBO called True Blood which is about Vampires. True Blood is actually the name of a synthetic blood that the Japanese made to help Vampires so they don’t have to drink people’s blood anymore. They just buy a 4 back of True Blood and it gives them the nutrition they need but without murdering people. This particular story is about a girl who is in her early 20’s who can read everyone’s mind and she meets her first vampire who walks into the bar/restaurant that she works at. She immediately falls for him because she can’t read his mind.

I like this show because it’s a vampire show and anyone who knows me knows that I love anything that is supernatural. I would rather watch a show about vampires, witches, super heroes, guys who go around the country killing demons than watching something like 90210 or Gossip Girl.

It goes all the way back to when I was a kid. I was obsessed with Samantha on Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. I was in heaven in the 90’s when Buffy started, then Charmed came and then Angel spun off of Buffy and there was Roswell and then in 2000 Smallville came and eventually Supernatural.

The last 12 years of television has been great for me and the hits keep coming. There was a show on CBS called Moonlight about vampires but it didn’t last more than a season which really pissed me off but now that True Blood is on HBO I’m happy again. And thank goodness I have HBO now lol.
