The Golden Girls in The Sims 4

The Sims™ 4

I’ve been watching these live drag stage productions of classic episodes from The Golden Girls on the SF Oasis YouTube channel. They are absolutely hilarious. They have also been doing Three’s Company, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (my absolute favorite) and other shows like Sex and the City.

While I was watching their latest episode of The Golden Girls, it occurred to me that perhaps there are Golden Girls characters and their house in The Sims 4, and so I looked and someone did make these characters and their house. I immediately downloaded them and started playing, but ran into a bit of a snag.

You see, the Golden Girls come as a family, and they only have §26,000 (Simoleons is their currency) and the house is worth §117,373. So, the only way I can afford the house is to either do the cheat, or work to get these characters’ careers up high enough that they can afford it. I don’t want to use any cheats because I am not quite sure if using a cheat will prevent me from receiving PS4 trophies or not. And also, I’m gonna have to do the work anyway, so I would prefer to get all these characters skills and jobs all the way up the normal way.

So here’s what I’m doing. I started playing them 1 at a time starting with Blanche Devereaux. She was hard to play because she is such a romantic and I didn’t want to just hook her up with anyone in the game, because I can remember she had a husband. I Googled him and his name was George and he was a lawyer. So I created George as an elder (since all the Golden Girls have been created as elders) and put him in the law career. Well, he’s already at the very top of his career and he has so many skills up already, so I’m going to stop playing him for now. Oh, and they have already started a relationship, so they are in love.

Now that George is finished for now, I’m going to go back to playing Blanche. I’ll continue working to get her career to the top as an artist. I know she worked in a museum, and they have museums in the game, but they only have museum curator as an aspiration, which means as an artist, Blanche can sell her paintings to museums, which I have been doing. So I think that is good enough. Once I get her career all the way to the top to where she can’t get any higher, I will continue working on their relationship so they get married and move in together so they can pool their combined money and income so I can hopefully buy the house.

Once I get the house with Blanche and George, I will make them both retire, and um… well, we all know George died and then Blanche had to rent rooms out to people. I found out that both Rose and Dorothy responded to the room for rent ad in the episode on IMDb called The Way We Met,

“The girls remember how they came to live together; Blanche put an ad for a room for rent on a grocery store bulletin board, and Rose and Dorothy answered it.”

So since I now know how they met, when I finish with Blanche and George, then I will get to work with Sophia, and considering I have no idea what she did for a living, knowing she became a chef in The Golden Palace when Golden Girls was over, I will put her to work in the food industry. Get her career up until she gets to the top, then retire her. I will include Dorothy in the family as her daughter, so I can work both characters at the same time, and do the same with career as a teacher. She was a substitute teacher, but I’m not going to make her retire from being a sub, I’m gonna make her go all the way to the top before I retire her. Then get to work on Rose. The only thing I know about Rose is that she worked some jobs in fast food, and they actually have that job available in The Sims 4, so I will put her in that industry and again, retire her.

Once all these characters have reached the top of their career and have retired, then I will be able to have fun playing them in the Golden Girls villa. I think it will be fun to play.

If you have The Sims 4 and you want to play these characters, you can do a search for them and their house, download them and then play them. I’m sure you will have a blast.

The Sims™ 4 Me

I am on The Sims 4 game on the PS4 and PC with the username Xanapus.

The Sims 4 for PS4

The Sims™ 4 for PlayStation 4

I’ve been playing The Sims since they began in the late 1990’s on my very old and so long gone first computer that had less than a 1GB hard drive. I started with the original Sims, played The Sims 2 Pets on my PSP and have played The Sims 3 on my PC, then The Sims 4 on my PC and when it came out for the PlayStation 4, I couldn’t help but want to buy it because I spend most of my gaming time on my PS4. My current PC is only a couple of years old and has way more ram than my last PC, so I could play it on my computer, but I still prefer to play it with a game controller.

I can’t recall when The Sims 4 came to the PS4, but I had pre-ordered it and I played it a lot, but then I kind of got bored, which happens with The Sims games. I mean, it does get boring and I can only take small doses of it before I have to take a break from it, but I get bored easily, and it’s not just this game, it’s pretty much every game I’ve ever played. Although, I did play EverQuest for 6 years straight, every day for 12 to 14 hours a day. Every. Day! But that’s not a single player game, so I was playing with other people which made it less boring.

But when I bought the PS4 version, I only bought the Vampires game pack because I couldn’t really afford to buy any of the other expansions, game and stuff packs. I eventually bought some when they were on sale, but I can only afford to buy so many. I have pretty much stayed away from the game until there was a sale and then I played for a bit with the new content. The Sims have been on sale recently and I couldn’t pass up some of the savings.

The Sims™ 4

As you can see only expansions are 50% on the PS4, while they are all 50% on PC. I did get a better deal with the bundles though. One bundle had an expansion included and 3 stuff packs, the other was an expansion with a stuff pack and then I also bought an additional expansion for 50% off and a game pack at 25% off.

Update: Since I posted this, I have bought even more expansion packs, game packs and stuff packs, so I’ve updated the image. I will keep updating the image as I buy new packs. Ok another update, I bought everything because they were on sale again on September 4th. I am just missing Eco, but I will wait for the day that is on sale. I am going to buy the Star Wars game pack when that comes out on September 8th.

My character (seen in the top) is based off of me, but not totally because he looks like me from a well, a skinnier time, and I still made him fat, but he is still skinnier than me lol. I gave him glasses, but for some reason when I changed all of his outfits, his glasses disappeared and I can’t seem to find them. But his looks and no glasses aren’t that big of a deal.

He was a vampire, because I wanted to play him that way, but when I bought these expansions, I wanted to take away that curse and just make him human again. The first week of not being a vampire was really difficult. I couldn’t get him to sleep in the bed for more than 6 minutes at a time (6 seconds real time) because of the restlessness from being a vampire, or whatever the term was. But he’s all better now. I really wanted him to be human again so I could take him on vacations to the islands and not have him burst into flames and die lol. I thought being a vampire was fun, but it was very restricting to my game play.

Anyway, we’ll see how long this lasts until I get bored again, and then wait for the next sale where I will probably end up buying all the rest of what I missed this time around. Who knows, maybe I’ll get my character a mate and we will raise kids. Maybe. MAYBE!

The Sims FreePlay January 22 Update

The Sims FreePlay

The Sims FreePlay has finally given us an update and not everyone is happy about it. Well, I should say they aren’t happy because EA still has not addressed some of the issues that some of us are having with the game.

There are really only two issues that I am having, like not being able to log in to Facebook in the game which would allow me to access the party boat to claim daily prizes based on how many Facebook friends I have who also play the game. It also allows me to visit those friend’s neighborhoods and interact with their Sims characters. They have tasks that you have to perform to earn a special currency called SP’s to spend on specific items in the store. If I cannot earn that currency then I will not be able to buy those items.

The other issue that I am having is that I cannot play the game on my new Nook HD+ that I got for Christmas. I have been playing this game on my Android phone since last year and I’m perfectly okay with playing it on there because that is mainly the only reason I even use my phone anymore. Ever since I got my Nook, I’ve uninstalled most of the apps that I used to use on a daily basis because they were causing The Sims FreePlay to constantly crash. Since I can use those apps on my new Nook, I don’t need them on my phone anymore.

Some people are reporting problems that they are having that I don’t seem to be having. They are also really irate that EA has not addressed their complaints.  Here are just 2 comments. I blurred out their names for their own protection.  The first one is negative, the 2nd one, well, if you can understand what that person is saying then you decide lol.  That person is having issues that I am not having.

You know, I am just as miffed as the next person, but let us all have a little perspective here. This is a free game. You don’t pay for it, you get to play it for as long as you want for free. There are premium items you can buy with real life money, but you don’t have to buy them if you don’t want to. Be lucky they are giving us all of these updates because their other game The Sims 3 which is also available for your Android device will cost you $6.99 and from what I have read in the comments there, that game doesn’t have nearly as many cool features and items as the FreePlay game has.

Also, you should be so lucky to have your Android phone or tablet because there are many people in this world who don’t have such luxuries. There are children who are being abused by their parents, some even murdered. There are entire families who are starving and sleeping in the streets because they aren’t as lucky as you. There are people in this world who are being molested, raped and murdered.

There are teenagers who are kicked out of the house and end up living on the streets for years simply because they came out of the closet to their parents. There are gay kids being targeted, beat up, some even raped and then murdered in Russia because Vladimir Putin gave them the okay by making being gay illegal. There are gay people living in Uganda who are being murdered or raped, or both. And finally, there are people being stoned to death in the Arab countries for the same reason, because they are gay. So chill out, it’s just a silly little game. Count your lucky stars that you even have the money to play the game on your expensive little toy.

I am just as miffed at EA because the Facebook issue started when they put out the Halloween update and I have waited all this time and was let down yesterday when I couldn’t log in with the new update. I understand how frustrating it is. I was also let down when I couldn’t play it on my Nook, but even if I could play it on my Nook, if I can’t log in to Facebook to upload my progress, then how will I be able to continue from where I left off on my phone when I try to play it on my Nook?

Someone told me to just buy a Kindle. Um… I have a Nook. I can’t just go out and say “hey take my Nook and give me a Kindle.” It doesn’t work that way. My Nook is a Nook HD+ with 32 GB which only cost $150. The Kindle Fire equivalent is $444 (see below). So yeah, I will not be buying a new Kindle just so I can play The Sims FreePlay. Even if I did, I still have the Facebook issue. If I can’t back up my game, then what point is getting a Kindle Fire to play it on?

One person even said to just go out and buy the cheap Kindle Fire. Again, even at the low price of $139, I still have the Facebook issue to deal with. Besides, why do these people think I have money lying around that I can just go out and buy all these new things? I just cancelled HBO and Showtime because I needed that extra $30 a month. How am I supposed to go out and buy a second tablet that I will only use to play The Sims with? I put $20 into savings and had to take it back out just to buy groceries. Come on, think it through people.

At any rate, I will continue to wait and hope that EA will fix these issues and I will continue not complaining because there is more to life than just a silly little game. I will continue playing it on my phone and be happy that I even have that luxury. How happy you ask? This happy…
