Fringe on Science Channel

Fringe-season-1

I have to admit something, I’ve never seen Fringe.  Yeah I know, some nerd I am.  Well, apparently I didn’t get the memo when this show began that it was science fiction and/or supernatural in nature.  I think if I knew, I would’ve been a regular viewer.  I think the fact that it was on Fox had something to do with why I didn’t watch it, because I have always connected Fox with Fox News so therefore I refused to watch it.  I got over that and ended up watching other shows, but I still didn’t know Fringe was SciFi/Supernatural.

I did add it to my Netflix queue, but I don’t have Netflix anymore because I never found time to watch anything, so I canceled because I was paying for nothing.  Science channel has decided to air Fringe every Tuesday, which gives me a second chance to watch it from the beginning.

November 20th, 2012, Science channel is breathing new life into this show and I will be able to watch it since it comes on at 5pm here.  That works perfectly for me because I normally watch Attack of the Show on G4 at 4pm and this ends at 8pm right when my regular shows begin.  It couldn’t have worked out any better.

I don’t know anything about Fringe, so I am going in blind just like everyone else did before the show began.  I don’t want to know anything about it because I don’t like spoilers.  It’s like when you start reading a book or are in the middle and someone says oh hey, the twin did it.  ARGH!  I don’t want to know!  I have heard how gruesome it is though, so that I am prepared for since I see gruesome stuff on my other supernatural shows.  I guess I have this “I’ve seen it all so nothing shocks me” attitude going in.

I look forward to being dazzled by Joshua Jackson, or as I like to call him, Pacey.

iPad Only Newspaper “The Daily” Starts Today

I am fortunate that I was able to wake up early this morning and that Darrin watches Fox News all the time so that I was able to watch this news story in the living room about “The Daily” for the iPad while eating my Honey Nut Cheerios.

Rupert Murdoch has announced this new app for the iPad that will give you your news every day for only .99 cents a week or $39 per year. That works out to just .14 cents per day. Remember when the newspaper was just .25 cents a day? You just load the app in your iPad and you get everything that you would normally get in your newspaper and then some.

Although, I wonder if it has any of your local news and features like local obituaries, classifieds, comics and things that are happening in your city, not just around the country and the world. If this replaces the newspaper, what will happen to all of those other cool features that came with the newspaper?  What about the coupons?  Will those just end up coming in the mail instead?

Well, besides losing local news, I envy anyone who has an iPad because it’s really cool and well worth the $39 per year price. They have news articles just like you would see in your newspaper but the exception is you also get color pictures on every article and sometimes even video instead of an image.

Here is a quote from VentureBeat.com where you can read the full story at:

“The Daily is not an island,” they said. You’ll be able to share stories on Facebook, Twitter and via email. You’ll also be able to record audio comments. The app features a built-in web browser, and certain pages also include Twitter feeds. There’s also an apps and games section to The Daily, which will link you directly to the iTunes Store.

The Daily will update throughout the day with breaking news as it happens so if you are at work and something is going on, you will know about it if you just so happen to be looking at it at the time.

I am not fortunate enough to own an iPad so this will be something that I will dream about for a very long time, at least long enough for the iPad to go down in price anyway. It looks like something that Darrin would find very useful where he can save tons of money and waste less paper since he loves to read the newspaper every day. Maybe he can charge an iPad for himself so he can get the Daily. It would be way easier than a new computer which he needs desperately anyway. Also he pays the same price per month that the iPad Daily charges per year so that’s something to think about.

If you have an iPad, let me know how the Daily looks. You get 2 weeks free thanks to Verizon so you have plenty of time to test it out.

Westboro is Planning to Protest a 9 Year Old Girls Funeral?

Click the image for the full article on the Washington Post website.

I just wanted you to see this screen shot to make sure you know I am not making this stuff up. Arizona had an emergency meeting so they could pass a bill to prevent hate groups like the Westboro Baptist Church from protesting the funeral of a little 9-year-old girl who was recently murdered by nut job Jared Loughner.

This new ban will make it a misdemeanor for the Westboro church to protest a 9-year-old CHILD’s funeral 1 hour before and 1 hour after the service takes place. If they protest during and make it difficult for the family then they might go to jail and pay a fine. Hopefully!

It was reported on Gretta today on Fox News that there are thousands of people who are planning to attend the funeral but only as a buffer, to stand in these nut jobs way so they can’t do any damage.

Look, I don’t understand why these hate mongers want to protest this little innocent girls funeral. What did she do to the Westboro Baptist church? Nothing, not a gosh darn thing! The ticker on the bottom of the screen on Gretta said that the church said “Thank god for the shooter” which was a quote from the church. That is such a terrorist thing to say. Who says that about a 9-year-old child?

The only reason they were protesting the vets funerals as they got buried when they came home from Afghanistan is because they serve under a government who allows gay people in the military.  That is before and after the Don’t ask don’t tell repeal.  I definitely think that is wrong because what business is it of theirs who serves in the military?  What business is it of theirs if gay people want to die for their country?  And the vets funerals they protest have all been straight men and women who have children.  They aren’t gay so why should their family be humiliated and shamed at their own son or daughters funeral?

So what does this little girl have anything to do with anything? First of all she’s not gay and even if she were she’s NINE YEARS OLD! Second of all what the hell does she have to do with the government? She is NINE! She doesn’t pay taxes, she just exists. I don’t get why they have to butt their stinky noses where it doesn’t belong in this case.

The Westboro Baptist church members must not have a soul because no human being with a soul would protest a little 9-year-old girls funeral period, end of discussion. She has nothing to do with their moronic cause so they need to back off. Only a soulless ghoul would think about hurting the family who just lost their precious little daughters life. I can’t think of anyone who has an ounce of compassion doing this to a little child and her family.

The Westboro Baptist church say they are doing “God’s” work but I have a feeling that’s just their cover. They aren’t working for God, they are working for Satan because God wouldn’t allow them to do such a thing. Only Satan would commission this bad behavior. The God that I know doesn’t hate little girls who were murdered enough to send these idiots to protest her funeral, no, only a ghoul or a monster would do that.

They must be a cult because no Baptist church that I have ever been to or Baptist member that I have ever known has ever been this cowardice of a person to even think that this is a good thing to do.

The Westboro Baptist church has gone too far with this one and they need to have their church tax exempt status taken away because clearly they have too much money to be able to spend traveling the country to go to funerals to protest. That money should be going towards helping people, not hurting people.  So clearly they are backwards.

Someone needs to take a closer look into this group and do something about them because this clearly is not a healthy way for a church to behave.

I have a soul, my soul gives me emotions, enough emotions to feel sad for this little girl and her family, yes enough emotion to cry for her.  I never knew her or her family but I am crying because it is so sad how she died.  This church has no emotion, it’s obvious that only a monster would have the opposite reaction by protesting with hate and bigotry rather than feeling sad for this little girl and her family.

I believe in Karma and I believe that whatever you do to someone will come back to you 10 fold, in their case 100 fold. So keep going Westboro, keep ruining your karma and see how that goes for you in eternity.

Judge Removes Stay on Prop 8 Ruling

Below are the facts from Towleroad.com. From what I heard on Fox News, gay couples can get married on August 18th but… and it’s a big but(t), that gives the Prop 8 team a week to stop it from happening. They will stop at nothing to “protect” marriage from gay people.

Ok look, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times more. Gay people getting married does not hurt straight people’s marriages. If anything it helps the economy because gay people are going to be spending big bucks on their weddings, probably more than straight people would spend.

Now I know that the argument for Prop 8 is not a financial argument but more a moral argument that being gay is immoral according to the bible which was NOT written by a “higher power” but by a bunch of bigots about 2000 years or so ago.

There seems to be a lot of things in the bible that people choose to ignore like that eating shellfish is an abomination (obama-nation?) LEV 10:10, slavery is a good thing especially when you are selling your own DAUGHTER Exodus 21:7, if you wear glasses you cannot get in to heaven LEV 21:23, that is something that everyone seems to forget and so many more.

My personal favorite is the one that says if you work on the sabbath you must be put to death. Oh yes it’s in there. Exodus 35:2. Check it out.

Now, please do me a favor, if you are going to ignore all these other things, please ignore all the gay BS in the bible. Thank you.

Judge Removes Stay on Prop 8 Ruling; Gay Couples Can Marry Aug 18

UPDATE: WE now have official documents. The stay is in place until August 18, at which time couples can marry as far as I can see.

is reporting that Judge Walker has lifted the stay on his ruling striking down Proposition 8, meaning couples are free to marry in California.

AWAITING official documents…

Also no word on the status of any appeal…

Said Evan Wolfson of Freedom to Marry in a statement:

“California is now the sixth state where same-sex couples share in the freedom to marry. As the Governor, the Attorney General, and Judge Walker have all concluded, there is no good reason to continue excluding same-sex couples from marriage. Same-sex couples across California can once again share in the respect and personal significance of marriage, as well as the critical safety net of protections and responsibilities that marriage will bring to their families. We are witnessing a growing consensus in America that loving and committed same-sex couples deserve the same respect and the same rights as everyone else. Americans on all sides of the aisle, from Laura Bush to Bill Clinton, have embraced the reality that the freedom to marry helps families, while hurting no one. As same-sex couples in California today celebrate their love, commitment, and equal protection under the law, a majority of Californians and a majority of Americans support their right to marry.”

Snitch On Your Mom

I don’t go to the white house website.  It’s not my number one priority for my daily browsing habits but I guess that if I did I would’ve seen a blog asking for “American’s” to turn in anyone who sends you email or anyone talking in your home about health care.  Here is a direct quote from Fox News.

The White House is under fire for a blog post asking supporters to send “fishy” information received through rumors, chain e-mails and casual conversations to a White House e-mail address, flag@whitehouse.gov.

Conservatives have pounced on the request, accusing the White House of acting Orwellian.

“If you get an e-mail from your neighbor and it doesn’t sound right, send it to the White House?”said Sen. John Barasso, R-Wyo. ” People, I think all across America are going to say is this 1984? What is happening here? Is big brother watching?”

Radio host Rush Limbaugh accused the White House of using heavy-handed tactics.

“They’re looking for tattletales,”he said. “They’re looking for snitches. They’re looking for informants.”

I don’t know what they are looking for but I think that it’s starting to look like communism.  It said in the top paragraph chain emails and casual conversation.  So what if I’m sitting in a room talking to my cousin and he starts bashing health care I’m supposed to what, get on my cell phone and start sending an email to the white house?  I’m supposed to snitch on my cousin as he’s talking then just tell him I’m checking the weather?

Uh, I don’t think so.  Ain’t happenin big bro.  That reminds me of the tv series in the 80’s called “V” which ABC is remaking and will air in 2010 about these aliens who come to earth and they say they come in peace and all they want is to borrow some of our water but what they really want is food… us.  How does that remind me?  Because the supporters of the aliens were informants and they were snitching on their mother, father, sisters, brothers, best friends.  Anyone who wasn’t supportive of the aliens they turned them in.  I’m not turning anyone in so the president can eat them.

I mean what are they going to do to the person that I’m asked to snitch on?  Are they going to put them in prison and clog up the courts and use more tax dollars to warehouse and feed these people that I snitch on?  Yeah, ain’t happenin’.  First of all I would never snitch on anybody no matter how big of a supporter I am which I’m not but if I did have my nose 3 inches up Obamas ass I still wouldn’t snitch on anybody.  That’s stupid for them to even ask gawd.

I found the blog that Newsmax copied and pasted to their email to me.

“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re 6asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

Microsoft and Yahoo Vs. Google

I saw on Fox News this morning that Microsoft and Yahoo are going to merge and Yahoo will start using Microsoft’s Bing search engine.  I don’t know why.  Anyway, they said that Google has been kicking Yahoo’s ass in the search engine department so MS and Yahoo are going to combine to kick Google’s ass.

Shep on Fox said that Bing seems to be a way better search engine but I don’t know about that.  I just did a Bing search for my name “Xanapus” and it didn’t seem that special to me.  It has a pop up on the right side of each item that shows you whats in there but who really cares about that?  It’s not a little mini image of the page, its text.  I don’t see how it’s better than Google personally.

Also, a few nights ago we went to visit friends of ours and when I went to look up the directions I opened Windows Live Mail (which I find easier than Outlook Express) and opened up the address book to copy the address to paste in Google maps but the address was a link so I clicked it and up came Bing Map.  After awhile trying to figure out just how I was supposed to get directions to that address I finally printed the directions with a map.  Well, those directions got us lost because they put us somewhere else.  They told us to turn left when we were supposed to go to another street 2 streets up on the right.  We ended up having to call to find out which street to go to and found out right and not left.

Google in my opinion is way better for search engines and for maps.  I’m probably not going to change.  There are some aspects of Google I don’t care for like Google Chrome browser because it doesn’t give me my Yahoo toolbar.  I’m kinda sorta looking forward to Google Chrome OS only because of the claim that it starts up faster than Windows but we will see if I can still use my Windows software since it will be Linux-based.  One service of Google’s that I do love is their free 1-800-GOOG-411.

Good luck Microsoft and Yahoo.

Star Struck or Struck By Too Many Stars

stars

This guy named Rouslan Toumaniantz tattooed 56 stars on this girls face after she asked for stars to be tattooed to her face.  Here is a quote:

“Toumaniantz claimed that Vlaeminck agreed to have the tattoos done: “Kimberley agreed to everything, she was very happy with my work. I have a witness who saw everything.”

Now she says that she is ugly, disfigured and can’t even go out anymore, not even to work.

By the way, she fell asleep during this procedure.  She fell asleep.  How the heck do you fall asleep while someone is putting needles on your skin especially on your face?  The only way someone is going to fall asleep and endure this much pain is if you have numbed your pain with some kind of drug or alcohol.  That is why it is illegal to tattoo someone while they are intoxicated because they can’t be responsible for the tattoo they are about to ask for because they might have been influenced to get it and they don’t remember.

Here is another quote:

He said that it was only when Kimberley’s dad saw his daughter that she changed her mind.

But the Franco-Russian body artist has now offered to meet the cost of a laser operation.

Belgian newspaper ‘7s7’ quoted him as saying: “It will cost around €3,000, but I’ll pay for it. I’m not a criminal and I don’t want to start a fight with anyone.”

Toumaniantz, whose own face is full of piercings and covered in tattoos, said that he has learnt from the incident: “That was the first time that I’ve tattooed a customer’s face. I won’t do it again without written permission.”

The amount of money that she will have to pay to have the stars removed is $13,000 (converted to US dollars – according to fox news) and he has agreed to pay for half of it.  If he has a witness stating that she was happy with it and she asked for it then I don’t see why he should have to pay a dime.  But considering it was on the face and she wasn’t covered like he is with tattoos then he should have had her written consent first.

Aptera Electric Car

I just watched a story on Fox News about this new 3 wheel electric car that is coming out this October.  It only goes 100 miles on an 8 hour charge.  It has solar panels on the roof to keep the inside of the car cool and it keeps the motor cool while it’s parked.  The news reporter showed how durable it is by banging on the top of the frame (before painted) with a really heavy hammer (looked like a small sledge hammer) and it didn’t dent and there wasn’t so much as a scratch.

www.aptera.com

This is basically a commuter vehicle.  It can have 2 passengers so you can pick up a co-worker and drive to work everyday and not spend 1 dime in gas.  But how much electricity does it use every night?  Does it use as much as a refrigerator or a computer or what?  I looked at their FAQ section, they won’t disclose any of that, probably because it does use a heck of a lot of electricity to charge.

There are electric car parking spaces though in some places.  There is an Amtrak station in Lancaster, CA with like 3 or 4 electric car only parking spots.  What you do is you plug it in then I guess put dollar bills in it and let it charge while you are commuting on the train to work.  I guess.  But I’m sure as soon as it becomes the norm for people to have this car there will be more electric parking spots available for employees so they can charge while they work.

Edit: Found it…  Here is a quote on the Live page on the right side at the very bottom of the list of functions of the car.

Plug-in
Okay, almost time for bed. You can be proud of yourself because the 100 miles you have driven since you unplugged this morning only cost you about $0.50. And, just think, tomorrow morning your Aptera will be waiting for your next big adventure.

That’s pretty impressive don’t you think?  And the seats are recycled from plastic bottles.

Recycle
We just think this is cool, but the fabric your seat material is made of prevented bottles from ending up in a landfill. How about that for being environmentally responsible.

Constitutional Oath of Office Gets Mangled

I watched this happen but I didn’t know that they had to do the oath of office twice.  The day after he swore in, Obama had to swear in again because it wasn’t legal.  That is according to Fox News that they had to do it again the next day.  I didn’t hear about that.

This is copied and pasted from www.chron.com:

“For a couple of smooth-talking constitutional experts, Chief Justice John Roberts and President Barack Obama had a hard time getting through the constitutional oath of office.

There was a false start by Obama, who started to respond before Roberts had completed the first phrase. Obama ended up saying the first two words — “I, Barack” — twice.

Then there was an awkward pause after Roberts prompted Obama with these words: “That I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully.” The chief justice seemed to say “to” rather than “of,” but that was not the main problem. The main problem was that the word “faithfully” had floated upstream in the constitutional text, which actually says this: “That I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States.”

Obama seemed to realize this, pausing quizzically after saying, “that I will execute.”

Roberts gave it another try, getting closer but still not quite right with this: “Faithfully the office of president of the United States.” He omitted the word “execute.”

Obama now repeated Roberts’ initial error of putting “faithfully” at the end. Starting where he had abruptly paused, he said, “The office of president of the United States faithfully.”

From there, smooth sailing.

Constitutional law experts agree that the flub is insignificant. Yet two previous presidents — Calvin Coolidge and Chester Arthur — repeated the oath privately because of similar issues.”
