True Blood on HBO

True Blood was a nice addition to the vampire world.  However, I’m not sure I like the direction they are going.  Last week at the end of the episode I was just pissed off that they killed Sookie’s grandmother.  Her character gave the show real southern charm.  I thought she was a great character because even though she was an older woman she wasn’t prejudice against the vampires like all the other people her or near her age.  And her curiosity for vampires is what got her killed.

I still like the show, I’m just a little upset right now.  Every time I see something bad happen to a main character I think it’s a dream or a prediction but then they don’t wake up and it’s real.  I hope they don’t kill too many more main characters cause the cast is dwindling down very fast lol.

The 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards

The Emmy’s are on tonight and we’re going to watch it tonight.  I normally don’t watch the awards shows but I decided it would be ok to watch it.  I may have to play Star Wars Battlefront during the boring parts though lol.

I’m so glad HBO has 17 channels instead of one because I was able to watch True Blood at 6pm (Eastern Time) because it would normally be on here at 9pm on the west coast.  It’s actually on at 6pm, 7:30 and 9pm.  But since the Emmy’s are on at 8pm (red carpet from 6-8) I don’t have to miss True Blood until it goes on On Demand.

New Season of Shows – Fall 2008

Finally summer is nearly over and my shows can come back.  This season I have shows 6 days a week again.  Mostly I have 1 show a night but some nights there are 2 shows.

Sunday: I only have 1 show and that’s True Blood on HBO.  If for some reason I miss it I don’t have to worry because of HBO On Demand.

Monday: Heroes and Chuck are coming back for season 2.  I also watch Medium on CBS but that show starts in January 2009.

Tuesday: As of right now I have nothing on for Tuesdays but Reaper is supposed to be coming back in January 2009.

Wednesday: I have 2 shows on at the same time on different networks.  Knight Rider which will be on NBC and Pushing Daisies which is on ABC.  I watched the first season of Pushing Daisies so I’m gonna have to choose that over Knight Rider but thank goodness there is such a thing as On Demand because I will be able to watch Knight Rider on the NBC website whenever I want to.

Thursday: Smallville & Supernatural.  Those 2 shows I’ve watched since they began so naturally I’m going to watch these.  I read this will be the last season for Smallville.  It was supposed to be Clark Kent’s childhood (or teenage years) and he’s way past 21 so it looks like it’s nearly time for Superman to emerge on the scene which will mean the end of Smallville.

Friday: Ghost Whisperer.

Ok, so I was wrong when I said 6 days of shows, well, half wrong because Reaper is coming back in January so only half of the season will be 5 days a week.  That is unless there’s another strike preventing me from watching shows then they get canceled lol.  I don’t think it will happen again for another 10 or 20 years since the last strike was 20 years ago.

True Blood

Tonight was the 2nd episode of a new show on HBO called True Blood which is about Vampires. True Blood is actually the name of a synthetic blood that the Japanese made to help Vampires so they don’t have to drink people’s blood anymore. They just buy a 4 back of True Blood and it gives them the nutrition they need but without murdering people. This particular story is about a girl who is in her early 20’s who can read everyone’s mind and she meets her first vampire who walks into the bar/restaurant that she works at. She immediately falls for him because she can’t read his mind.

I like this show because it’s a vampire show and anyone who knows me knows that I love anything that is supernatural. I would rather watch a show about vampires, witches, super heroes, guys who go around the country killing demons than watching something like 90210 or Gossip Girl.

It goes all the way back to when I was a kid. I was obsessed with Samantha on Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. I was in heaven in the 90’s when Buffy started, then Charmed came and then Angel spun off of Buffy and there was Roswell and then in 2000 Smallville came and eventually Supernatural.

The last 12 years of television has been great for me and the hits keep coming. There was a show on CBS called Moonlight about vampires but it didn’t last more than a season which really pissed me off but now that True Blood is on HBO I’m happy again. And thank goodness I have HBO now lol.

New Afghan Project in the Making

A few nights ago I was watching tv, mainly flipping through channels and I came across a british comedy show on HBO. I don’t recall the name of it but the two characters were in bed (twin beds in the same room) and one of them had a crocheted afghan on his bed. They were squares and I was able to see the pattern when they went close up on the guys face when he was talking so I pretty much know what to do.

Each color was different and the squares all had a black border (used to sew the squares together). I thought it was so interesting and I have tons of yarn that are all different colors so I thought that since my hands are doing much better that I would do 2 squares a day until it’s all finished then I can sew it all together. I’m sure that it will be finished by the time it starts cooling off after summer. And since they are squares I wont worry about crocheting for too much time per day because it doesn’t take that long to make a square.

I can’t wait to see the finished product.
