Information Regarding Walgreens, Express Scripts and Tricare

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Walgreens

I have been going to Walgreens ever since we moved to Bakersfield in 2000.  What I didn’t know was that Walgreens and Express Scripts are in the middle of a dispute.  Apparently over the last year, Walgreens has been negotiating for a new contract for 2012, but they were not successful.  What does that mean for you?  It means that if you are a part of the Tricare network, you will not be able to fill your prescriptions at Walgreens, which is totally unfair, not to mention uncool.

If you are unaware of who Tricare is, which I was until now, they are for military personnel.  How does this affect military?  Well, it makes getting your prescriptions difficult if you are constantly moving around because of the military.  As long as you are a member of Walgreens, you can go to any Walgreens to fill your prescriptions.  I’m sure it’s the same for other pharmacies, but if you are used to and loyal to Walgreens, you won’t like this change.

Express Scripts is saying that you will not have to pay more for your prescriptions through them, but that just isn’t true because they will just raise their prices.  It’s the same rule as movie theaters and airport food, if you are forced to buy it through them, they will raise their prices.  They want you to get your medicine directly through them and they are just the middle man in this whole thing.  They are doubling their profits which is unfair to Walgreens.  If they raise their prices, then they would more than double their profits and who loses in all of this?  Not just Walgreens, but you do too.

If you are part of the Tricare network then you are being affected by this, if not then you don’t have to worry about anything.  If you are affected, join the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens and cut out the middle man.  Why should you have to put up with unfair practices by Express Scripts?  Life is difficult as it is, there is no reason that we as a society should have to pander to these 1% fat cats.

Raise your voice in this issue by contacting the local media and telling them how pissed off you are.  Follow Walgreens on Twitter and become a fan of Walgreens on Facebook and let them know that you still support them.

We as a society are who pay these fat cats their salaries, so if we (and I don’t mean me because I don’t have Tricare) don’t stand up for what we believe in, then they will just get richer and we will get poorer.  Let them know you aren’t going to take their abuse by boycotting them and going directly to Walgreens.  They will get the message when their profits are no longer doubling, and in fact decreasing and they will change their practice.  You have a voice, use it!

Norton Small Business by Symantec

Mashed potatoes and gravy.  Peanut butter and Jelly.  Computers and Anti-virus software.  There are some things that are better when combined with another thing.  You wouldn’t eat a peanut butter sandwich without jelly would you?  You certainly wouldn’t eat mashed potatoes with gravy.  So why would you have a computer without anti-virus software installed?

I can’t count how many times my Norton Anti-virus software saved my computer from viruses that I downloaded when I got my first computer.  Not only did it stop the threat, but it wiped it before it destroyed my computer or emailed my personal information to a hacker.

You couldn’t run a business without anti-virus software, and why would you want to?  You need Norton Small Business by Symantec to keep all of your companies computers safe, especially when you cannot control the websites your employees go to or what files they download.

Norton 360 v5.0 has many more features than Norton Antivirus 2012 and Norton Internet Security 2012 and it’s only $20 more.  You can also get 30% off Norton Small Business Products now so you can save even more money.  You cannot afford to pass that up, can you?  No, I dare say you cannot.

How has Norton helped you with your security issues?  Please let me know by leaving a comment telling me which version of the software would most benefit you and why.  I would love to hear your feedback.

The LG DoublePlay by T-Mobile

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LG DoublePlay™ for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

LG DoublePlay

I recently saw the review for the new T-Mobile exclusive phone the LG DoublePlay™.  It showed many of the good points of the phone, such as the amazing multi-tasking ability with it’s dual touch screen displays.  You can browse the internet with the screen above while posting the links to Facebook and Twitter.  Or you can be chatting in an instant message while playing a game or watching a movie.

It has a 3.5 inch main display and a 2 inch sub display.  Does your phone do that?  Mine certainly does not.  Mine has a slide out QWERTY keyboard but the buttons are so tiny that I can barely text with it.  This phone has a very strange split keyboard, which at first looks very difficult to use but the woman who reviewed the phone in the video that I saw today said that it doesn’t take very long to get used to it.  In fact she typed out a sentence in just a few short seconds with not one typo.  I can’t even type one word on mine without making an error.

This phone uses Android 2.3 Gingerbread and uses the Android market.  Ok I have no idea what Gingerbread is but doesn’t it sound cool?  I can just hear this conversation now “Hey, what OS does your phone have?  Oh, gingerbread, that’s cool.”

I spend 16 hours a day on social networking websites on my laptop.  I would use my phone if it wasn’t a pre-paid cell phone.  If I had one of these phones, I’m almost sure I would rarely ever use my laptop, well, except to blog.  I’m pretty sure that if I had this phone, I would never look up again.

How many hours a day do you spend on social networks on your phone?  What about per month?  How would this phone change the way you spent your time online?  Don’t you think it’s worth checking out at T-Mobile?  I do.

Create a Holiday Browser Theme and Win an iPad 2.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of BrandThunder for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Holiday Browser Theme Contest

Would you believe me if I told you that you might win an iPad 2 for 5 minutes of work?  Of course you wouldn’t because it’s crazy.  How could you win something so expensive in 5 minutes?  It’s as simple as creating a browser theme with Brand Thunder, tweeting, emailing then waiting until December 23rd to see if you have won.  It’s 100% free to create your own browser theme with Brand Thunder’s BT: Engage.

I entered the Brand Thunder Holiday Theme Contest by making my own image in Gimp and creating a toolbar for Firefox and Internet Explorer.  I could have used one of the images that came provided but that was too easy, I wanted to create my own original design.

It wasn’t that long ago when I was searching for a way to create my own toolbar.  I wanted to make something that was personal to me instead of having to settle for what other people have made.  I never thought that I might be able to enter a contest to win an iPad 2.  What are the odds right?

The judges will announce the 5 best themes on December 17th and then I guess people can vote.  The winner will get the iPad 2, the others will win a $25 gift card for Amazon.  Hey, it’s something right?  If I am in the top 5, I will blog about it again so you can vote for me.

Straight Talk

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I got my first cell phone 9 years ago, I was afraid of getting a phone with a contract because they were just so darned expensive.  I went with a prepaid phone with maybe only 250 minutes per month for $25.  That was perfect for me because I don’t really use it that much.  I only use it when I’m traveling or on the bike trail.  That old phone is long dead and I’ve been looking for a new one.

Straight talk has phones with everything you need such as the “All You Need Plan” with 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 30mb of data for only $30/mo.  They also have unlimited plans for only $45 a month with calls, pictures, text, web and messaging..  That is a huge savings if you are currently paying $75 to $100 per month.  I love that I would feel richer with those savings.  What would you buy with the money you are saving?  I think I would be buying more groceries, then again I might buy some music or books, who knows.

Straight Talk has an international option for only $5 more so you can call a friend in Mexico, Germany, England or anywhere you need to call.  I see people buying these phone cards from the store on the corner for Mexico and I just think they are wasting their money.  They can just get one of these prepaid cell phones and call their family for only an additional $5 with their international plan.

Scott Canterbury talks about Straight Talk in this YouTube video hook, line and sinker.  He talks about how much money he is saving each month and as a family he’d be saving much more.  Watch and see.  It’s just such a good plan to go with, I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to.  They even have refurbished cell phones for as low as $10 with a camera, mp3 player, web and blue tooth.  They even have smart phones with touch screen, apps, maps etc.   There are no activation fees, contracts or credit checks.  You can’t beat that in a cell phone.  So watch the videos (links) and save some money for crying out loud.

Freschetta Simply Inspired Pizza

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FRESCHETTA® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Freschetta Pizza Simply Inspired - Chicken Bianco

Pizza has been one of my favorite foods since I was a kid.  There are so many toppings to choose from when you are buying for delivery but it doesn’t seem like the frozen section has too many topping combinations.  FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ thin crust pizza comes in 8 distinctive varieties that are all made from fresh ingredients like roasted bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, all real cheese and a thin crust which is better for your diet.

Speaking of diets, when I am dieting, it’s best to buy a pizza with a thinner crust because it has less calories.  Well, these Simply Inspired pizzas from Freschetta are really low cal.  Check it out, this Chicken Bianco pizza is only 360 calories for 1/3rd of the pizza.  That’s so great because normally they say 1 slice is 1 serving.  1/3rd of the pizza is what, 3 slices?  So you’re getting 3x the pizza!

I have bought the regular Freschetta rising crust pizzas and I love them.  The quality and taste of the ingredients is what makes Freschetta the better pizza.  And wouldn’t you know it, they are green, no not the colors of the ingredients, the packaging.  The Fresch-Taste seal locks in the vibrant flavors of the pizza and it uses 30% less packaging.

Better get the Chicken Bianco and Tuscan Farmhouse soon because it’s not going to be around for very long.  Trust me, they are really good.  You won’t want to miss out on them.  My opinion is that Freschetta is the superior frozen pizza that you and your family will love without any of the guilt.

Press N’ Open Book Light

Have you seen those commercials for the Snuggie Fleece Blanket that comes with a free “Press N’ Open Book light”?  Well, I bought that book light at Albertson’s last week and it’s crap.

Yeah, it’s real neat that you press a button and the light automatically pops out and it looks very cool when it opens but it only shows the page down the middle.  It’s a total waste of plastic.  It was $5 alone at the store and comes free with the Snuggie but I wouldn’t waste any time with it.

A friend sent me a Mighty Bright Cobra Super L.E.D. book light and not only does it show the page you are reading but it also shows the other page so you don’t have to keep moving the light.  It is way better than the crappy Press N’ Open light.

The 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards

The Emmy’s are on tonight and we’re going to watch it tonight.  I normally don’t watch the awards shows but I decided it would be ok to watch it.  I may have to play Star Wars Battlefront during the boring parts though lol.

I’m so glad HBO has 17 channels instead of one because I was able to watch True Blood at 6pm (Eastern Time) because it would normally be on here at 9pm on the west coast.  It’s actually on at 6pm, 7:30 and 9pm.  But since the Emmy’s are on at 8pm (red carpet from 6-8) I don’t have to miss True Blood until it goes on On Demand.
