Gevalia Stir Mug

gevalia-stir-mugI’ve seen this on the Dvice website before but I guess I never blogged about it.  It’s a neat little gadget for coffee drinkers.

“Insulated stainless steel gently stirs your beverage at the push of a button. Keeps coffee hot for hours. With snap-on, see-through sipper lid.”

Now this is something that I want to buy.  It’s $18.95 but if you buy 2 it’s $32.95 giving you a discount of $5.  It uses 2 AAA batteries.  It’s hand washable so don’t put it in the dishwasher, that might break it and I wouldn’t submerge it in the sink full of dishes either, just in case.  You would probably just want to clean it outside of the sink then rinse it out.

I think it’s neat because you won’t need a stirring stick or a spoon, who wants to keep a spoon in their mug all day or keep using several spoons throughout the day?  And if you don’t drink your coffee fast enough it can get cold and this has a built-in heater to keep it hot for you.  That’s worth the cost.  I’m sure there are shipping charges as well.  I’ve looked for this in sears but they don’t have it.  I haven’t looked anywhere else but I’m sure it’s a Gevalia exclusive product.

Pretty neat huh?

Bukowski Bears Bookmarks

When I was visiting my Aunt Louise at Christmas time in 2006, one of my presents was a bookmark.  My aunt had friends from Germany staying with them and they had a present for me without ever even meeting me.  I thought that was sweet of them.  It was a bookmark that they found in Sweden of a little bear on top with feet at the bottom and it’s the perfect size bookmark for like a little novel.  I wouldn’t use it for anything bigger because the feet might not stick out the bottom.

I was using it for a book I was reading which was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer novel and then my Uncle suggested a David Eddings book, The Belgariad book 1 and so I was reading that too which meant I would need another bookmark or a post it note sticking out the top.  I wasn’t expecting her to give me a 2nd bookmark but she did so now I have 2.  A brown one and a blue one.  I use them all the time, well 1 at a time normally.  I found them online in a UK web shop at www.devongiftshop.com for about £3.50 each.

The company they are made from is called Bukowski and I went to their website but they don’t make it easy to shop there.  So I had to do a search to find them elsewhere which is how I found Devon Gift Shop.  I think the price is reasonable.  The bookmarks are furry just like a teddy bear so it’s nice to hold hehe.

I almost forgot to post 2 pictures that I took of my bookmarks.

“Stuff”

We went to Snider’s Cyclry today to get the parts for my bike.  I got a new stem that has an extension so that my handlebars will be high enough so I don’t have to raise them as much to get height.  I also had to buy new hand grips because in order to take the old stem off and put the new stem on I have to take everything off the right side of the bar to slide it through.  I don’t really have to take the grip off the other side but then it will be lopsided so I really kinda do have to.  All that was $25

Then we went and got my glasses frame which was $35.

And lastly we went to Target to buy a new computer because the magnet fell off the spokes when I had my accident and when I was putting the bike in the car today to go to Snider’s the wire snapped so I needed a new one.  But instead of buying another 20 function computer for $15 I bought the 12 function because I don’t need that computer, just the parts.  The 12 function computer was only $10 and I would’ve spent that on the magnet plus $2 on eBay which would’ve been a total waste of money.  While I was in the bike department I bought a new rear view mirror that goes on the rubber grip on the outside of the bike, not on the inside so I will now be able to see and I bought gloves with the tips missing.

Atomic Alarm Clock

A few months ago I sent in a publisher’s clearing house thing with a stamp for an atomic alarm clock.  I’m kinda sick of having to set my TV to wake me up in the morning and I wanted something that was atomic because it sets itself via satellite.  It’s not a radio alarm clock and it takes batteries, not plugged in which makes it even easier if we lose power.

As soon as I get it I put some batteries in and it says that it’s 12:00 and it doesn’t update right away like you see on the commercials.  In fact it is still not set right, it says 5:08pm when it’s really 2:06pm.  I read in the manual about how it works and it says that it doesn’t talk to the satellite until nighttime so I pretty much have to wait until tonight for it to update.  It also thinks that today is January 31st lol.  Frankly I don’t know how to set it yet so I am just waiting for it to set itself and hope that it sets the date too.

Dell DJ Battery Replacement

Darrin bought me a Dell DJ for Christmas 2004 and during 2005 I was listening to it all the time everyday, on the way to the gym or sitting at my desk or even while doing the dishes.  I was always listening to it.  But over time the battery would die sooner than it was supposed to.  Sometimes it would even freeze up and I had to just wait for it to start playing again.  I couldn’t turn it off or do anything.  I just had to wait for it.

The battery is supposed to last like 5 or 6 hours or something and over time the amount of time it actually played kept going down until eventually it only played for half hour.  Now when I unplug it, it just dies immediately and gives me a screen saying the battery is low.

I’ve treated that Dell DJ like a baby by never dropping it or losing it.  I’m a good nerd, I respect my electronics enough that I don’t get them broken or stolen.

I’ve called Dell that first year when the battery started dying and they wouldn’t help me even with my warranty.  I was too late in renewing my warranty and so when I called for help they said sorry you don’t have the right warranty for this.  I was like dude, I have a $318 paper weight now.  Thanks a lot.  They were like I know, I can understand how frustrating you are but we can’t help you.  I was like well can I just buy a new battery and ship it to you to replace it and they said yeah for like $75 or something like that.  I’ve never had the money to do that.

Every once in a while I do a search on the net for Dell DJ Batteries and I found a website that has them for $24.95 + shipping and it has the tools to do it yourself.  It says it takes a few min but a testimonial says 10 min.  I don’t care, I just want a new battery and $25 is not a bad deal.  I will have to wait until I get some money because I’m tapped lol.

Eureka Sponsors

I love the show Eureka and I love Degree deodorant and I really don’t mind seeing a show with advertising inside it but I think the way they advertise Degree in this show is too much.  Product placement is fine but it’s like they are trying too hard.  The new lady on the show from Titanic, Francis something or other, she just spews out all these slogans that you hear on the commercials.  I don’t want to hear that.  Those lines should be reserved for the actual commercials, not tv shows.

The episode when Jack is in the shower and he keeps going back to the shower and living the same day over and over and he takes the Degree out of the medicine cabinet and places it on the sink was ok, still pushing it because it would be one thing if he grabbed it and used it then put it back but there really is no reason for them to put focus on him putting it on the sink over and over again.  I mean how far could it have been from where it originally was?  12 inches?

Oh and they have a special lab with the Degree label on everyone’s jackets and degree sticks sitting on the counter in the lab.  Come on, that’s a bit much.

PSP Keyboard

Wow I just read at www.pspfanboy.com (click link for the story) that there will be an official keyboard for the PSP coming next year. It’s a little tiny keyboard that you have to use your thumbs to type with but that’s fine by me.

X-Box 360 has a joypad that has a similar keyboard on it and if people can type with that then so can I. It’s very similar to the keyboards that are on cell phones with full keyboards. My PSP box is going to be full lol.  In order to use this I will have to buy something that holds the PSP up so you can see what you are typing.

GPS Mount for the PSP

As some of you know, I’m very excited about the GPS module coming this holiday season for the PSP. Well, I just read on the Playstation Blog that it will be out later this year and there is a company who is making a dashboard bracket for the PSP making it easier to navigate the country without needing to hold your PSP while driving lol. Here is a picture.

Now just tell me how I’m supposed to use my PSP while riding a bike without crashing into a car, breaking both my legs and smashing my PSP into a million pieces.  I joke hehe, I would never do that.

Kodak Printer

Ok, today Darrin printed a couple of things and the ink levels have not changed at all. This means that the print head WAS the problem and I’m glad we didn’t give up and just get a new printer, that I went to Kodak’s website and complained and got a new print head sent to me. Thank goodness.

Kodak

Well, today I received my new print head with a complimentary black ink cartridge, color ink cartridge as well as 5 sheets of 4×6 glossy photo paper. My printer is back to normal again. I hope it lasts this time.

I’m satisfied with Kodak. It’s a very good printer as I said before and I love that the ink is so cheap, that was the selling point you know? Darrin was ready to just go out and buy a new printer and I was like no this one cost you a lot of money, I’ll just deal with it. But why should I just deal with it if the problem can be resolved by emailing Kodak and asking them what to do? As I said, I’m satisfied.
