Farscape DVD’s

I just found out tonight from a friend that Ben Browder and Claudia Black from Stargate SG-1 were in Farscape.

When we first got our cable in 2000 I wasn’t really that into watching the Sci-Fi channel because I was addicted to Comedy Central.  But then after a couple of years I started watching the Sci-Fi channel.  I did see a couple of episodes of Farscape but I figured I was too late watching it because I didn’t have cable when it started and I didn’t want to watch something in the middle and wonder what the heck is going on.

But I’ve been watching Stargate SG-1 religiously every day at 3pm (Sci-Fi HD channel here is East Coast, then the regular Sci-Fi channel is West Coast so then I get to see it again at 6pm).  When I really started getting into watching Stargate SG-1 it was about the same time Ben Browder and Claudia Black came into the show.  I figure yeah I missed a lot of the earlier seasons but it’s on 5 days a week, I’m sure they will get to the end soon and then start over from the very beginning.

I was figuring I was going to buy the complete Stargate SG-1 series on DVD’s for $130 from Amazon so even if they didn’t repeat it again I’d have the DVD’s so no biggy.

Well, when my friend told me today about Farscape I googled the show and went to the farscape website where I learned they had 4 seasons from 1998 to 2002.  So I figured ok I’ll go to amazon and see how much it cost per season.  OMG They are so expensive.  Like $130 for the first season.  Hello?  Season 2 is $78.37, Season 3 is $99.91 and Season 4 is $126.99.

Holy crap dude!  Are you sure about those prices?  Then I went to see how much the entire series is with all 4 seasons, it’s frickin $484.99.  I can’t believe it’s that expensive.  I’m not buying that.  I could never afford that much money.

So, I guess I’ll have to just imagine how good of a show it was.  Maybe the dvd’s are made out of gold and diamonds.  Maybe that’s why they are so much money.  Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking.

Krod Mandoon

Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire premiered on Comedy Central last night at 10pm and I have to say it was hilarious.

It looked like it was a spoof of a show like Hercules and Xena from the 90’s.  Sean Maguire is very good in this role as Krod Mandoon.  And I have to say he has an awesome body.  His stomach alone is enough of a reason to watch this show.

It has an awesome cast of characters who are just so hysterical.  Especially the bad guy played by Matt Lucas who I remember from Little Britain USA which was on HBO.  He is just so funny.

If you haven’t seen the series premiere then you have to watch it when it repeats.

Currently it is on Thursday nights on Comedy Central at 10pm.  Don’t miss it because it’s hilarious.  If you don’t find it humorous then watch it to see Sean Maguire half-naked lol.

Oprah’s New Format

Every couple of years Oprah gets a new format for her show.  It’s like her show is evolving with time.

I can recall in the 80’s that her show was just like any other talk show.  It was like Jerry Springer (early 90’s Jerry Springer) or Phil Donahue or even Sally Jessie Raphael.

Over the years she has started talking to more stars than regular people.  Well, that I know of.  I mean, I really don’t watch her show.  You know, cause I’m a dude.  But sometimes as I’m channel surfing and I’m passing that channel I stop for a few minutes and look to see whats going on.

Well, now the format she has is a table with 3 other people.  They have their little coffee cups and they are chatting about whatever.

It’s like she is copying this new show called The Doctors where all these doctors are sitting at a table talking about medical stuff (not that I’ve seen it but I’ve seen commercials).  Or they are copying The View.  Who knows.

I guess it doesn’t really matter what Oprah does because no matter what she makes way more money than God himself (you know, Ryan Seacrest).

Stargate

I’ve always loved the show Stargate SG-1 but only watched it occasionally but since I wasn’t a regular watcher of the show I was always lost.  So a couple of months ago I decided to sit and watch it every day when it came on Sci-Fi.  I started paying attention to it when Ben Browder came onto the show.  No reason why I paid attention to him, just a coincidence lol.  Don’t put any thought into it lol.

I know that I’m still probably lost and I figured that they would be nearing the end of the last season soon so I can start watching it from the beginning again but I don’t know when that will be.

Stargate Universe will be coming in the fall and I really want to be caught up by then.  Although, it doesn’t look like it’s from the same era, it looks like it might be in the future but I won’t know until it comes on.  I want to be really caught up with SG-1 before I start watching SGU anyway.

Yesterday I bought the original 1994 Stargate movie which I have seen before but I want to start it all over by watching the movie.  Plus I’m sure there are some bonus features.  Maybe.  I’ll have to wait until it comes in the mail.

I also bought another Stargate which I had no idea even existed.  “Stargate Infinity: The Complete Series” which apparently is a cartoon with half hour episodes.  There was only 1 season so it wasn’t a very good one I guess lol.  I can only assume they were trying to target the show to kids because some of the cast members were teenagers lol.  As if Stargate Command would have teenager soldiers fighting the fight.  Hilarious.  I bought it because it’s campy to me.

I was going to start buying each season on DVD but there are 10 seasons at $21 each and I can buy the entire series in a big box for $115 and get 2 bonus discs with all bonus features.  So I’m just going to do that.  I’m going to have to wait until next month though to set aside half then on my birthday pay for the rest so this will be my birthday present to myself lol.

When I’m done with all that then I’m going to buy Stargate Atlantis.  Although, I might wait until they have the entire series in a box.  Right now I think they only have each season sold individually.  I will work on getting that before the fall so I’m REALLy caught up hehe.

Everyone’s a Critic

I have my own taste in what I watch on TV.  But what I hate is when people tell me stuff like “don’t waste your time on that show” or “OMG that is so lame, you are such a pussy for watching that”.  You know what.  Screw that.  I don’t give a crap what people have to tell me about how they feel about the shows I like.  I don’t go around telling people that they shouldn’t be watching the stuff they watch.  Jeez dude, mind your own business.

I’ll give you an example.  OK, I like shows like Buffy and Charmed but a lot of people will say that those shows are targeted for girls.  No they’re not!  They are targeted to anyone who likes that world.  I just so happen to be that type of person.  I don’t care if it’s all men burping and farting, as long as they are casting spells and vanquishing demons or slaying vampires, that’s all I care about.

Some people will say “oh well that’s not very educational now is it?  I just watch the home decorating shows and you know, educational programming like the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel (TLC) and the History Channel.  You know, you could be a little more educated if you stop watching those TV shows of yours”.  You know what, let me tell you something about education.  Shove your education up your pie hole =)) I watch those things too.  I watch the History channel and Discovery once in a while, if it’s interesting to me.  I don’t base my whole existence on that crap because they aren’t fantasy.  I would much rather live in the fantasy world because it’s more interesting.

Listen, I have ADD, you know what that means?  It means if I don’t give a crap about something then I’m not going to pay any attention and I’m not going to remember 1 thing you told me about any of it.  I may be sitting there, staring at the screen for an hour but I can guarantee you that I won’t hear 1 word being said.  And at the very end you can quiz me on it and I’ll tell you the same thing everyone time.  “Huh?  What?  Oh I’m sorry, I wasn’t even paying attention.”

If you ask me anything about Smallville, Supernatural, Heroes, Buffy, Charmed or any of the other many shows that I watch, I will have so much information that you will be like omg I can’t believe you remembered that but yet you can’t remember anything that you just saw in the last hour that I made you watch on the History channel.

Sorry, it’s how I roll.

Primeval

Last year I watched this show on BBC America called Primeval.  I thought it was a very good show.  They only have about 6 or 7 episodes for each season but that’s because it cost so much money to make with all the dinosaurs and special effects.  The story is pretty good and I highly recommend it.

Here is a synopsis from scifi.com:

World-renowned evolutionary scientist Professor Nick Cutter and his team are recruited by the British Government to investigate a series of dinosaur sightings. From a Gorgonopsid rampaging through the Forest of Dean to a swarm of giant spiders in the tunnels of the London Underground, they find themselves doing the “Monster Mash” with some seriously beastly opponents.

The seemingly impossible becomes a terrifying reality as long-extinct creatures rip through human territory. Meanwhile Cutter and his research assistant, Stephen Hart, struggle to find answers. Enlisting the help of zoologist Abby Maitland and student palaeontologist Connor Temple, the four work to uncover the secrets of the temporal anomalies. Yet it soon becomes clear that all traditional methods of research are extinct.

The team is abetted by shadowy government officials James Lester and Claudia Brown, who instruct them to keep the danger secret from the public. Yet inevitably, the past threatens to invade the present and destroy the future. And Cutter’s crew faces a life and death race against time.

Adding to the chaos, Cutter is also struggling with a private dilemma. After disappearing for eight years, his wife, Helen, mysteriously returns with possible answers to help halt the invasion of prehistoric creatures. But is she willing to share the secrets? And if not, then why has she returned?

Combining dazzling special effects of Walking With Dinosaurs and Jurassic Park style, action and thrills, plus a haunting love story, Primeval asks a horrifying question — has mankind come to the end of the evolutionary road?

Primeval is coming to Sci-Fi channel starting on Friday April 10th at 10/9C.  Catch it if you can.  Set your TiVo’s or whatever DVR’s you have or your old dinosaur VCR’s (pun intended). and make sure you don’t miss this show.

Trantasia

We just watched this show on Showtime called Trantasia which is a beauty pageant.  But unlike Miss America, it’s with transsexuals.  The contest was the “Worlds Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant” and it was from 2006.

I watched it because I thought it was interesting because I am a part of the gay community and so I wanted to watch it.  But I found it interesting how these people live their lives as a female whether it be pre-op or post-op.

This one person said, and this really pissed me off too, “my husband of 7 years and I performed homosexual acts” and something to the effect of “I don’t have anything against gay people but some day they are going to have to answer for their sins” or something.  Uh, hello!  You are gay!  Don’t kid yourself honey, you are a homosexual with tits.  Whether you have a penis or a mutilated penis turned into a fake vagina, you are still a dude.

I understand that men who feel like they are really women need to have the surgeries and stuff and I don’t have anything against that but I do have a problem when they turn against their own people.

This was supposed to be the “World’s Most Beautiful Transsexuals” but most of them looked like crazy drag queens ready to do a show and so naturally they didn’t win.  The final 8 were picked because they were the most believable looking women.  The rest were not picked because they still looked like dudes in dresses with tits.

Naturally the ones who lost were saying that it was rigged and they claimed sabotage and one of the African-American ones claimed that racism is still alive lol.  Hon, it’s not racism, it’s not sabotage and nothing was rigged.  First of all the one who claimed sabotage looked like the biggest drag queen of the millennium.  Don’t kid yourself, if anyone sabotaged you, it was you lol.

The winner was the most believable looking one and she deserves her crown and title.  To the rest of them… dude, what a drag.

Roast of Larry the Cable Guy

I’ve been looking forward to this since I first heard it was going to be on.  The Roast of Larry the Cable Guy aired tonight at 10pm on Comedy Central.  The panel was Zac Brown, Gary Busey, Reno Collier, Nick DiPaolo, Jeff Foxworthy, Toby Keith, Maureen McCormick, Jeffrey Ross, Warren Sapp and Lisa Lampanelli as the Roastmaster.

I kinda felt sorry for Maureen McCormick because of the jokes towards her but she took it like a man.  She was very raunchy and I thought she did the best job in this roast.

Gary Busey was…. well, himself.  Although he was funny.  He was pretending like he wasn’t himself and so he was telling Gary Busey jokes lol.  Hey, if you can’t laugh at yourself then you have no sense of humor.

Bill Engvall phoned in his performance.  It was a video, he couldn’t even take the time out of his life to show up to the roast of one of his friends.  That’s ok.

I love these Roasts, I remember watching them as a kid with Lucille Ball as a roaster and Dean Martin and Don Rickles.  Those were the days.  But, back then you couldn’t say a lot of words you can say today.  Although, they say a lot of words you still can’t say on TV but they just bleep it out.  I watch every roast when they have them if I know about it.  I don’t watch Comedy Central as much as I used to because I’m always on Sci-Fi channel so when I do see a Roast commercial I make time to watch it.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

There is a movie that I just heard about that is from Joss Whedon and family that I am head over heals for.  It’s called Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog which stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer.

OMG it is so good.  It’s basically a 42 minute musical (as by the title) comedy all about Dr. Horrible sitting in front of his computer doing video blogs and he tries to rule the city while Captain Hammer always tries to save the day.  But Captain Hammer is a pompous prick.

Normally you would root for the good guy but in this movie the good guy is a douche and you root for the bad guy instead because even though he is evil to the core, he’s still a sweet lovable guy who just wants to get the girl (gag).

Let’s face it, Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are perfect for these roles.  They both can sing.  Oh boy can they sing.  And they both do such a great job in this as their characters.

Dr. Horrible’s… was a little movie with 3 acts filmed during the writer’s strike of 2008.  I was told by a friend tonight about this musical episode that it was going to be a new summer 2009 show for ABC but when I went to ABC.com it didn’t show anything so I just assumed it was Hulu only.  Then I discovered that Amazon has the DVD for sale.

I also Googled the shows title and found the official website.  I’m reading the “Master Plan” and I see that it was only going to be available to see on the internet until July 20th 2008 then it’s gone from the internet forever.  But… it is still on the internet.

If you would like to buy it on DVD make sure you go to Amazon and to www.drhorrible.com to download it on iTunes.  They also have some t-shirts for sale for $25.

Nathan is in his own show on ABC called Castle which is on Monday’s at 10/9C and Neil Patrick Harris is still in How I Met Your Mother on CBS Monday’s at 8:30/7:30C.

Which ever show you watch you can also watch them at Hulu, that you can be sure of.

New Joss Whedon Show – Dollhouse

I recently heard about a new show on Fox called Dollhouse which is created by Joss Whedon starring Eliza Dushku.  I liked her as Faith in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I didn’t watch her other show but apparently it didn’t last long because she is now in Dollhouse.

I tried watching the first episode of Dollhouse on Hulu but I wasn’t really that into it.  I mean, if I really wanted to watch it I’ve had the last few days to try since I first heard about it and I haven’t tried to watch it again.

It’s about Echo who is an “Active” for this illegal underground organization called Dollhouse.  They use these women as pawns to do certain tasks for them then they erase their memory.  These women can never have a real life outside of the Dollhouse.

I’ll try to watch it again.

Tune in to Fox on Friday’s at 9/8C for Dollhouse.
