Hometown Buffet

We love going to HomeTown Buffet and since it’s almost Chips birthday (September 23rd) I want to take him there for dinner.  I just signed up for their e-club so we both can get coupons for free meals lol.

When it’s your birthday they send you a coupon for a free meal so we’re going to take advantage of that.  Since I can’t afford to buy him a gift I’m giving him the gift of free food lol.  I’m not cheap, I just don’t have the money.  Besides I gave him an early birthday present already.  I wanted to save it for his birthday but I was too excited to give it to him lol.

Web Design

I just finished a new website yesterday. I was asked way before Christmas time if I would design more websites for Chips brother and his son (Chips nephew) and I’ve been saying yes for a long time but never got any info on it.

So Darrin told me that David called again and left another message and told me “would you please call him?” So I did then as Darrin was giggling he told me that it was an old message. Well, that’s ok because it got me to call him and remind him that I still wanted to do it.

So I got the information and pictures and stuff and made the website. It’s at www.superlodgeelpaso.com.  I think I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself.

Yarn

A few months ago Chips moms friend Julia passed away. Darrin sort of latched onto Julia after his mom passed away and so when Julia passed away her niece Noretta “Jean” Cade gave us some of Julia’s things. Julia was a hoarder, she had a lot of everything and she loved to do crafts. All this yarn is what Jean gave me because she didn’t want to throw it all away, she wanted it to go to someone who can use it. There is also a lot of cross stitch projects, project books, plastic canvas and knitting needles and Cro-Hooks (a long knitting needle with a crochet hook on the end).

It’s very ironic too because I can’t crochet anymore because today I was diagnosed officially with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. I need surgery to fix it which can take a while. I have to go to a neurologist to get the diagnosis so my insurance will pay for the surgery.

Games for PSP

We went to the mall today to pay for Chips Sears card and he decided he was going to buy me a game. I kept refusing but we ended up going to the Game Stop and buying a game but we came home and I played it and it was so lame. We are going to return it tomorrow.

I’ve been looking for a game that is similar to Tetris that we can play on the PSP but there are none. Or are there? I found on Amazon.com a game called “Sega Genesis Collection” and it has 28 Sega Genesis games including Sonic the Hedgehog and Columns which is what I had when I had the Sega Game Gear.

Columns is Sega’s version of Tetris which is a little different but it works. The other 26 games sound cool, I’ve never played them so it will give me a chance to see what they were like. It’s cool that there are 28 games on 1 UMD so I don’t have to keep switching the UMD’s. It’s gonna be awesome. And Darrin will finally have a game that he can play. He doesn’t get into all the games but when I got my Game Boy 14 years ago he loved playing Tetris.

Julia Lanier

Our dear friend Julia Lanier passed away this morning at around 2am. She was a friend of Chips mom for years and when Opal passed away in 2004 Darrin began a friendship with Julia to help fill the void left when Opal passed (void for both of them). Darrin and Julia talked just about every day on the telephone. She would call when there was a news story that she thought he would enjoy watching on TV and vice versa.

Darrin used to take the bus over to her house and drive her to her doctors appointments with her car. Or he would just go with her and she would drive her own car. About 4 months ago when we got our car he brought a little foldable step-ladder because a ford explorer is a bit high for a woman in her late 80’s and he was going to bring her to her doctor’s appointment but ended up taking her to the emergency room instead. She was admitted into the hospital and was there for probably 2 weeks.

He visited her on a daily basis, sometimes 2 or 3 times per day, early in the morning, noon time and dinner time. The doctor released her to go into a nursing facility called Californian Care on Mt. Vernon Ave. She stayed there until she passed away this morning.

Julia didn’t want anybody to do anything special for her after she died. No obituary, no headstone, no funeral at all. She will be cremated and put in an urn in the same plot as her husband. Because there is no headstone the only way someone will be able to visit her gravesite is if they go to the office and say hey, where is she? Then of course they will have to escort you there. Anyway, she is in a much better place (as they always say, but it’s true).

Early Thanksgiving

We are going to be in beautiful San Diego this weekend to spend an early Thanksgiving with Chips brother and his family. We have to do it early because Darrin has appointments that he cannot break on Tuesday and Friday so it makes spending Thanksgiving on the actual holiday difficult. I think we are going to be able to go visit Sea World and of course Tijuana. What fun!
