Lego’s were my babysitter when I was a child.  You could literally put me in a room with a bunch of Lego’s and leave for a couple of hours and come back and I would still be in the same spot building with my plastic bricks.  I have such an emotional connection with Lego’s so it’s no surprise that when they came out with video games, even as an adult I was attracted to them.

I can remember when I first discovered the Lego video games.  We were in a Game Stop at the mall and I was going through their games looking for a new game and I found Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.  The clerk told me that in June that year, which was 2008, Lego was coming out with a new game called Lego Indiana Jones.  Naturally I had to pre-order it.  When I did get it, it came with a free t-shirt which I wore all the time.  I wore it so much that it is a bit faded and it has many holes in it.  It’s been retired and is hanging in my closet.

The next game was Lego Batman, which I naturally pre-ordered and it was released in September of the same year.  I got a Robin keychain.

Lego Indiana Jones 2 came out in 2009, but I didn’t buy it.  Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 came out in 2010 and I did pre-order it and bought it, but I don’t recall getting something for free.  Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars came out in 2011, but I didn’t buy it, but in May 2011 Lego Pirates of the Caribbean came out and I did pre-order and buy that one.  Finally Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7 came out in November 2011 but I did not buy it.

My reasons for not buying some of the Lego games weren’t because I didn’t want to play with them, but more because I couldn’t afford to keep buying new games at their high prices.  I figured I would wait for them to go down in price, or until I had a gift card.

I have been doing surveys with e-rewards.com for many years and have gotten a lot of games for my PSP with Game Stop gift cards from e-rewards.  In fact, 90% of the games that I do own are from doing surveys.  Surveys have helped keep me gaming for many years, but for some reason they stopped coming, and when they did come again, I wasn’t interested in doing them anymore out of boredom.

Recently I decided to do some new surveys and realized I had $60 in my e-rewards account which was more than enough to get a new gift card for Game Stop.  Unfortunately they raised the cost of the reward from $50 to $75 for a $25 gift card.  I’ve been doing surveys every day since then so I could have $75 in my account so I could get my gift card and I finally did.

We went to the Game Stop at the Valley Plaza yesterday and unfortunately, they don’t carry PSP games anymore.  The guy said that if I wanted PSP games, I would have to visit their Rosedale store or the East Hills mall.  Bollocks!

I recently got a $35 gift card from Amazon for advertising on my blog so I decided to buy Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.  I decided to go to GameStop.com with my $25 Game Stop gift card and I bought the 2 remaining Lego games that I was missing.  When those come, I will have all 8 Lego games for the PSP.  I got free shipping with my order of $25 or more, and it was more.  With taxes it came to $30.07 so all I had to pay out-of-pocket (or out of debit card lol) was 5.07.

I have been playing Lego Star Wars III and I do love it.  I believe I am 10% in the game now.

I love the Lego games and I can’t wait to play the new ones.

Lego Batman Nominated For Award

It’s not the kind of award.  This is a “TOADY” which means it’s the worst toy of the year.

Lego Batman nominated for award for toys inappropriate for children

Personally, I like this game.  I think that it’s a pretty cool game.  But I like all the Lego games because I liked Lego when I was a kid.  I would play for hours building stuff then taking them apart and starting over again making something else.

The claim is that it promotes violence and sexuality to children.  LMAO are you kidding me?  WHAT THE F?  Uh, ok, what about World of Warcraft?  EverQuest?  You have got to be kidding me.  There is no sexuality in Lego Batman.  You can’t play a video game without violence.  Even Pac-Man ate the ghosts and the ghosts would kill him.  Are you going to tell me that Pac-Man promotes violence towards ghosts?

I have the Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Batman games and they are all good games and I would personally let my children play with them.  This is absolutely ridiculous that they are doing this.

One of the claims is that when this game was being advertised, McDonald’s was selling Happy Meals with a lego batman character as the toy.  So freakin what!  They are saying that this is promoting violence, sexuality and bad health.  Excuse me?  You don’t have to get soda in the happy meal, you don’t have to get fries but instead they offer apple slices.  Basically, you don’t even have to get the meal for your kid, just go to McDonald’s, buy the happy meal, eat the burger and fries and drink the little tiny soda then give your kid the toy, believe me, he/she won’t even know the difference because all they want is the toy.

McDonald’s has teamed up with Disney since the 80’s that I know of to sell Disney related toys to children in their happy meals.  I used to work there so I would know first hand.  Every time there was a Disney movie out they would make toys to go in the happy meals.  This is not new and exclusive to Lego Batman.

I say to all the people who are so worried about this… get a freakin life.  Worry about the war, about our economy.  Pick your battles.

Countdown to Lego Batman

There are only 2 more days until Lego Batman is at Game Stop.  That’s Tuesday morning.  Hmm, since I’m blogging this at 9:30 at night, tomorrow is Monday and I will probably get the phone call at lunch time on Tuesday, that should mean there is only a day and half left.

I pre-ordered this in May so I’ve waited all summer for this so I guess you can say I’m pretty excited the day is finally coming.  I really love the Lego series of PSP games.  I have Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones so now I’m adding Lego Batman.  I really hope they don’t stop after this, that they give us more in the Lego series.

I’m hoping for Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, Superman and or the Justice League.

My Lego Indiana Jones Progress

Well, I’ve almost completely finished the Raiders of the Lost Ark part of the Lego Indiana Jones game. I am just missing 1 artifact in the 6th level. I know where it is but it wont let me get to it so I will deal with it later.

I’ve unlocked the Young Indy level in the Artifact room which is a scene from the new movie. I just turned the game on and it says I’ve played it for 17 hours and 39 minutes. That is total time since I got it on June 3rd, what 7 days ago? Hehe 17 hours is a lot in just 7 days.

Lego Indiana Jones

I got my Lego Indiana Jones for PSP game today and got a free t-shirt. This game is fun just like Lego Star Wars is. I’m really glad I got a PSP because it’s so cool.

I also bought some artist stuff at Michael’s. I bought “Cartooning Kit for Dummies” and it came with 6 colored pencils, 6 markers which are basically the same colors as the pencils, an eraser and a pencil sharpener. I was disappointed in the pencils because they were very difficult to erase. A regular pencil works better.

It also comes with a little 5×7 sketching pad with 50 sheets. The book is lame, it’s not even a book it’s more of a piece of paper folded a few times. I also bought a book called Superhero Madness which has “45 basic lessons for drawing cool heroes and vile villains”. It’s pretty cool. They also had these booklets that were totally blank so you can create your very own comic book. I bought 2 sizes, a regular typical comic book size and a pocket book size. Each with 28 pages.

I don’t know what I’m going to draw in them but I probably wont use them for a very long time, long enough to know what I’m doing first hehe.

My Birthday Part 2

Well this morning I woke up with Darrin singing the Happy Birthday song and he was holding a German Chocolate cake which was what my mother always made for me for my birthdays. He knew that, that’s why he bought it for me.

We went to the movies today and saw Iron Man which I really loved. Afterwards we went to Sears and Darrin bought me 3 pair of cartoon lounge pants (pajamas hehe).

His cousin Vedra and Venda gave me a black t-shirt with HWOODCATS on it and a box of Dewars candy peanut butter flavored. They are really good. Tomorrow I absolutely cannot wait to get my Lego Indiana Jones game for my PSP then we’re going to DQ for blizzards which I have a coupon that they sent me for my birthday for buy 1 get 1 free.

MY BIRTHDAY!

Yay another birthday has come. This will be my 38th birthday and I’ve been bombarded by emails from all these websites that I’ve joined over the years wishing me a happy birthday. I really love it.

However I know it’s the “computer” that told itself to email me these standard birthday wishes, templates if you will that they send to all their members. In fact they probably send at least 10 or 20 of those on a daily basis.

I don’t mind the impersonal greeting from a robot and the fact that nobody except for my very good friend Chris has sent me a birthday card and I haven’t gotten a card from my entire family.

Maybe its Karma since I forget everyone lol. That’s ok, I really don’t care. In fact I do much prefer getting an email greeting saying hey mike, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. A e-card isn’t required. It’s the thought that counts you know?

Now I do know for a fact that tomorrow morning I’m going to wake up with the phone ringing and it will be my aunt Betty calling to sing the happy birthday song in my ear. That is going to happen, I already know that. I can’t wait. I would much rather get an email or a phone call than a present or even a card. I just want someone to say hi, I’m thinking about you today because it’s your special day.

I used to tell people on a daily basis that there are so and so amount of days left blah blah blah but I stopped doing that and nobody ever remembers anymore. Maybe that’s my bad lol. Oh well it’s cool.

Tomorrow were buying a cake and were going to cut it in half and bring the other half to Chips cousin Vedra and then we will eat our piece and have an extra piece for dessert for later. Then on Tuesday were going to pick up my birthday present that I pre-ordered from Game Stop called Lego Indiana Jones for the PSP. And while we are in the mall I have a coupon I got from Dairy Queen website from their Blizzard fan club to buy a blizzard and get one free for me. That will be my birthday itinerary hehe.
