DOMA Unconstitutional and the Repeal of Prop 8

no-doma

Today is a glorious day for LGBT Americans. The Supreme Court of the United States ruled the Defense of marriage act to be unconstitutional. That means that the federal government will recognize the marriage of all Americans, not only heterosexual marriages.

This is a huge step for humanity in my opinion. Although not everyone will agree with me because they believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. Love is love, period. It is none of anyone’s business who loves whom. Period, end of debate. It’s pretty arrogant for anyone to say that my 19 year relationship is less important than Kim Kardashian’s 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries.

We in California will not be able to get married for probably another month, if that, but I do believe that this will boost our bad economy since people will be buying wedding gifts for their friends who will finally be able to get married. So stock up on toasters and blenders while they are still on store shelves.

Keep Your Chin Up Jonah

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdkNn3Ei-Lg

This was shared with me on Facebook today and I couldn’t help but cry throughout the whole video.  This kid named Jonah who just started the 8th grade this year has been bullied since the 1st grade is showing that although he is terrified of being bullied, he has a million reasons to not kill himself.

He talks about cutting himself and even shows where his scars are, you can’t really see them but I’ll take his word for it.  I think that was when he started to cry which was what set me off and I started bawling.

Dear Jonah if you are reading this, I know what you are going through because I went through something very similar.  I know how tough life is and I’m sure you keep hearing “It Gets Better” but it really does.  You have to hold your chin up and just try to get by day-to-day.

Let me tell you something about me.  I didn’t actually start to get bullied until junior high school and the only reason it took that long was because we moved around so much that nobody really got to know me to start bullying me until the 7th grade.

I was abused by my step-dad mentally and physically since I was a baby so I know what it’s like to be bullied on a daily basis.  When the kids started bullying me was when I tried to end my life because I just couldn’t take being bullied at school and at home.  I attempted suicide almost every night.  I almost killed myself when I was 13 years old by choking myself.  I would choke myself until I became unconscious but then I’d wake up in the morning.  I finally gave up after weeks of killing myself every night because it wasn’t working.

It isn’t worth dying over because even though you are still so young, you will have something to offer the world and I know you will succeed because I believe in you.  You do have a million things to live for and I applaud you for making this video to hopefully open people’s eyes to what you are going through.  Maybe you will write a book some day and when you do I hope you share it with me.

Speaking of which, I wrote my own book and I would like to give it to you for free when it is published.  It is a bit depressing and you have enough to worry about but perhaps it might provide some inspiration.

I believe in Karma and I know that those bullies will get what is coming to them when they are older.  Believe me, they will be fat, bald and in the middle of their third divorce while paying $1000-$5000 a month in child support.

Stay positive and keep being you. *hug*

BREAKING: Whitman confirms she’ll defend Prop. 8 in Court

I just got an email from EQCA saying this:

Dear Michel,

Yes on 8 supporter Meg Whitman has stepped up her anti-marriage equality campaign.

Late yesterday, she joined Attorney General Candidate Steve Cooley by saying that, if elected, she will use the state’s vast resources to defend Prop. 8 in court.

Make sure Whitman and Cooley are not given the opportunity to reverse California’s position in the federal Prop. 8 case.

Whitman says she will cut the budget due to lack of resources, slashing services for those most in need. Yet, she has no problem using the state’s limited resources—your and my tax dollars—to advocate for discrimination against two people simply because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and in love. Shame on her.

Meg Whitman was quoted in the Sacramento Bee, saying:

“And I think the governor, the attorney general today has to defend the constitution and has to enable the judicial process to go along and has to enable an appeal to go through. So if I was governor, I would give that ruling standing to be able to appeal to the circuit court.”

We need to defeat every candidate who believes that discrimination belongs in the constitution. It’s wrong. It’s un-American.

Let’s keep California on the right side of history, and equality.

Urgently,

Geoff Kors
Executive Director
Equality California PAC

I find this disturbing because California is already broke and she’s going to drain what is left to stop gay people from being happy? How ruthless, how hateful, how f’d up is that? Is she that anti-gay that she’s going to bleed this state dry to show how much she hates gay people? Same goes for Steve Cooley. I think they need to get their priorities in order, seriously.

I literally want to vomit, that’s how sick these anti-gay people make me. To think, I might have voted for her based on being CEO of eBay.

Prop-8 Decision Today

Image via Wikipedia

The NOH8 Campaign twittered this just a few minutes ago:

“: Chicagoans Plan Rally in Response to #PROP8 Ruling   http://tinyurl.com/32q3jrq #NOH8 #LGBT Be heard!”

So I went over to that website and read it. I think that the National Organization for [Straight] Marriage is being just a little melodramatic with this statement.

““We want supporters of marriage all across the country to have a clear understanding of the threat this federal judge poses to the very survival of marriage in America.”

Tell me one straight married couple whose marriage is going to be threatened by gays getting married. Not one! How is gays getting married going to threaten your way of life? It’s not. The whole point of gays wanting to get married is number 1 equal rights and number 2 health care benefits.

I think it sucks that straight married couples who have health care benefits through their employer can pass those benefits over to their spouse but a gay couple is out of luck in that department. Is that what is going to threaten their marriage? The fact that the gays will be able to give their dying partners a chance at life with health insurance?

There are way more benefits than I just spoke about such as being able to bury your partner, being able to make medical decisions in the hospital as well as after death when they have passed on.  Many more which I can’t think of so if you can enlighten me with a comment.

Go lay an egg.

Rick Jacobs, founder of the pro-LGBT unions Courage Campaign said in this article . “I can only say that based on the evidence in the trial, it is absolutely clear that allowing gays and lesbians to marry will strengthen families and the nation,” and “No matter how the judge rules … we’ve already won a significant victory because the other side admitted they have no argument.”

See that? No argument. They have to prove that gays getting married is going to threaten marriage and they can’t prove it because it’s not going to threaten marriage. How can it? I just don’t see the logic in their argument.

The religious people don’t want gays getting married because “the bible says it’s wrong” boo hoo. They say being gay is a sin so they shouldn’t be allowed to get married because being gay is a choice. Ok well if being gay were a choice then I can choose to be straight right? … … … yeah, not gonna happen. It’s not that easy because I have news for you, I was born this way. I didn’t have a choice in the matter, it just happened to me.

Believe me, if I had a choice I wouldn’t choose to have eggs thrown at me, punches thrown at my face by my stepdad and the other kids in school who made fun of me and called me faggot everyday. I didn’t choose that, I wouldn’t choose that. So their argument has no merit since it’s a BS argument.

The ruling will be in some time this afternoon.  This whole prop-8 BS campaign is never going to end because both sides are just going to keep appealing it.

NOM Sign: Lynch Gay Couples To Save Marriage

NOM Sign: Lynch Gay Couples To Save Marriage | The Bilerico Project

Please read the above article for more information.

Ok well, I’m really just stunned by this.  You really have to read the article in the link provided at the top and watch the videos that are in that article.

This guy who holds these hate signs is very uneducated.  He seriously thinks that god is going to destroy us much like he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.  If that were true then Canada and Britain would be gone because they allow gay marriage.  God hasn’t destroyed them.

He also seems to think that being gay is a choice and that he has been tempted and knew it was wrong so he chose not to act on it.  …  I don’t even know what to say to that.  First of all, I don’t know any gay men or even any straight women who would be attracted to that. Pahleez !  Barf!

By making this sign he has threatened the lives of every LGBT person alive.  Is that what god wants?  Does god want people that he allegedly “created” to be hung because this guy doesn’t agree with how they live their lives?

He says in the video that it’s the same thing with people who have artificial insemination.  So, women who have to have their husbands sperm artificially inseminated because their sex is not working to make them pregnant, despite the fact that they are straight are no better than gay people?  Should they be hung too?

Him making and holding that sign makes him no better than a terrorist.  That is indeed a terrorist threat.  Isn’t this something that the cop standing behind him should be thinking about rather than guarding him?  That cop needs to arrest him for making terrorist threats against people.  People who are just doing what nature has told them to do, be themselves.

When I started to type this out I was speechless, I guess not.

Thank You Pepsi

photo715Last week, the American Family Association launched a boycott of PepsiCo. The AFA boycott is based, in part, on the PepsiCo Foundation’s support of PFLAG’s Straight for Equality in the Workplace project.

I got this email today from PFLAG saying to call the Pepsi Company to thank them and tell them that I will only buy Pepsi products from now on because I am a PFLAG member.

I will, but before I do I would just like to rant about something.  Why is it that the AFA hates gay people so much?  I mean, what did we do to them but be gay?  We didn’t hurt their chances of having equal rights like they did us.  So why are they boycotting a company for saying hey, we like gay people and we support them in the work place?  All gay people ever wanted was equal rights, to be treated like a human being and not be told that we can’t have a piece of paper that says that we are joined together as one.  That we can do our taxes as a couple and not individuals.

I’m just really confused.  Is this not the year 2009?  Have gay people been around throughout time?  Yes they have.  Michelangelo was gay.  I can’t think right now of all the gay people throughout history but there is record of gay people all throughout time.  Did you know that gay people were in the concentration camps in WWII?  Yes, where do you think the pink triangle came from?  While the jews wore a star of David to show that they are jewish, the gay people were forced to wear a pink triangle to show they were homosexual.  And did you know that during this time the jews treated the gays the same exact way the germans did?  Oh yes my friend, gay people have been persecuted as long as there has been persecution.

In the 1970’s gay people reclaimed the triangle, turned it upside down and used it as a symbol.  So this I tell the AFA.  We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it cause we’re not going away.  Gay people have been around since the dawn of time and we’re going to be here until the end of time so get over it.

Prop 8 Undecided

I’m still waiting to find out about prop 8.  I heard that it’s 55% for yes and 45% for no which is not good news but they said that it would probably end up in court again.  This issue is never going to die.  The christians are going to constantly be against us and it just shows gay people that we are still very much hated and we have so many more years before we will ever be accepted.  It just makes me so sick to my stomach that the people that I thought liked me ended up voting yes on this issue.  It let’s me know who really like me and who doesn’t and I will never look at them the same again.  I will also never step foot in a church again as long as I live knowing every single one of them voted yes on this.  A yes vote on prop 8 is a vote against gay people in general.  You can argue with me all you want but you know it’s true.
