Roast of Joan Rivers

I do love those Comedy Central Roasts.  They are so funny and dirty.  I remember watching them in the 70’s and I don’t remember them cussing but they were dirty.

The panel or they call it Dais were so so.  I think it was about 50/50.  One of the people on there I’ve never heard of, Whitney Cummings.  Who the hell is she?  I appreciate a good gay joke but come on, this ho bag made a crack about Mario Cantone having AIDS and about him being a child molester.  Sorry but it’s not funny.  And they kept making these fried chicken and watermelon jokes about Robin Quivers.  Also not funny.

They filmed this in July 2009 which was around the time that 4 stars passed away, one of them being David Caradine.  I think there were about 3 jokes about him which I think was too soon for that.  Yes it was funny but still too soon.

Also TV Guide said that Lily Tomlin was going to be in it but she wasn’t.  That was disappointing because I love her and I would’ve loved to see her make fun of the panel.

I think the best moment in this show was the beginning when Joan came out onto the stage with 6 children with price tags on them and she said that Brad and Angelina were having a garage sale lol.

The only 2 comedians that I liked on there were Kathy Griffin and Jeffrey Ross.  Besides the terrible fried chicken joke to Robin he was pretty good.  He was probably the best one out of them all of course besides Kathy Griffin and of course besides Joan Rivers at the very end.  She did pretty good too.

True Blood Beverage

It’s happening.  The show True Blood on HBO is coming out with an actual beverage that you can buy.  Although it has no actual blood in it but it is an orange soda.

trublood

Downside is that it only comes in a 4 pack and the price is outrageous.  The asking price for this 4 pack is $16 plus shipping charge of $9.  I’m not sure if it’s going to be in stores or not but at that price I probably won’t buy it.  They need to come down just a LOT before I will buy it.  I can’t see paying $16 for a 4 pack when I can just buy a 2 liter bottle of Fanta and probably get the same exact taste.  After all, with TruBlood you are paying for the name, not the flavor.

At that price I would rather it did have blood inside of it.

Warehouse 13

The new SyFy show Warehouse 13 aired a few nights ago with their 2 hour pilot.  I watched it when it aired but I really didn’t know how I felt about it so I didn’t want to blog about it just yet.

It’s been on just about everyday since so I’ve seen it 3 times (including right this minute watching it yet again).  I’m still on the fence about the characters.  The 2 secret service characters I like but the guy with the curly hair (yeah, I don’t know names yet lol) seems a bit over the top.  I mean, he over reacts a bit too much lol.  Maybe that’s the way they wrote the character or maybe the way the actor is portraying that character and he is a great actor, I just find it a little neurotic that’s all.

Other than that it just seems to me like Eureka 2.  I know it has nothing to do with Eureka but I kinda feel like they needed a show that was similar to Eureka since they are having success with that so here is this show.  Or maybe I’m just thinking about it too much lol.

As I said I don’t want to judge the show too much just yet because it was only the first episode which was kinda cool and all so I’m gonna give it another episode or 3 before deciding for myself.

Update: I am in love with this show after watching the first few episodes.  And what I said about Arty being too neurotic, well yeah he is but that’s the character.  It’s a great show and I can’t wait to see the rest of the season and hope it comes back for another next summer.

Merlin on NBC

Tonight Merlin was on NBC.  There were 2 1 hour episodes and considering magic is one of my most favorite things to watch on TV I just had to watch it.  I was a little bit disappointed that the King banned magic or face death but I guess it will make it even more interesting to watch.

As I said there were 2 1 hour episodes.  I completely forgot it was going to be on so I almost missed it.  I IM’d a friend of mine who I know wanted to see it so I reminded her and she didn’t even know it was 2 hours either so she had to go into the program on her VCR to add the extra hour.  She records it then watches it the next day.  I on the other hand have to watch shows on their premiere night so I can turn around and come here and post my comments.

I liked it.  There, I said it.  Keep in mind that my kind of show is more of a modern day show with cars and computers and the use of telephones instead of horses, abacus and shouting at each other but it was good.

The actor who played Merlin looks very young like he’s 17 or 18 years old, he’s very skinny but he plays the role great.  I loved how at the beginning he didn’t have to say anything to cast spells, it just happened.  That was pretty cool.

Now next week he will be exposed and face death but you can’t believe he will because they just started the show, why would they throw the towel in after 3 episodes?  Now when I say exposed, I mean the King finds out he is a wizard, not that he dropped his towel in front of someone lol.  Come on people, get your mind out of the gutter.  Oh wait, that was my mind.

Anyway, hope everyone else enjoyed/enjoys Merlin Sunday’s on NBC.  Ding ding ding.

Big Brother Deleted

I’ve deleted all my past Big Brother posts from Big Brother 9 and 10.  They aren’t relevant anymore.  I’m probably not going to be able to watch Big Brother 11 this summer because of my new sleeping schedule for the bike rides at 4am because I’m probably going to be going to sleep at 8pm lol.

I might end up recording Big Brother the nights they are on and then just record After Dark from 12am to 3am every night.  Who knows.  I might not like the new house guests and just not watch it at all.  I’ll know after the first couple of episodes.

I do want to watch it but at the same time I have other summer shows that I watch so I’m gonna need to be able to record those too.  But no matter what I decide to do, I’m probably not going to blog about it this time around.

YouTube Movies and TV Shows

I’m a bit behind in the news.  I know that YouTube has movies and TV Shows or they just added that recently.  Yesterday I watched “The Blue Lagoon”.  I never saw it.  It came out in 1980 and I was 10 at the time so I wasn’t able to see it for obvious reasons.  It’s rated R.  Not only that but I’d have to be an adult to really get it.  So I watched it and really understood it.  Such a sad and happy ending.

Anyway, they don’t have a whole lot of movies and TV shows yet because they just started but I’m sure they will have every movie and TV show ever made available for all to see.

I usually watch TV shows on Hulu because they have them like the very next day usually after airing on TV.  Sometimes I have to wait a few days after the show airs on TV but it’s not too long.  And you can subscribe to TV shows on Hulu so they email you to let you know a show is on their website so you don’t miss it.

This will certainly put Netflix out of business if people are able to just watch their movies right from YouTube.  Netflix is going to have to think fast and lower their prices and offer unlimited viewing through their website to compete.

The movies and tv shows you watch on YouTube do have commercials.  I was thinking that perhaps watching YouTube movies is like stealing from the actors and the production companies but the commercials probably make up for that.  The Blue Lagoon had like 10 commercials, it was all the same commercial just played every 10 minutes or so.  So that probably pays for it all so YouTube can continue showing them for free.

It’s the same thing as watching regular TV, you still have to watch commercials, but only 1 commercial, not 2 minutes worth of commercials.  More like 1 30 second commercial.  I think that I can handle being interrupted every 10 or so minutes by a 30 second commercial and be able to watch it for free than have to wait for the movies to come in the mail via Netflix and have it scratched and unplayable or have it come to me broken or never even receive it at all.  Which has happened to me by the way.  But that’s another blog post for another time.

All in all I give YouTube a big thumbs up for making it available for free.

The New Sci-Fi Brand?

The Sci-Fi channel has decided that after 16 years they aren’t satisfied with their own image and so they want to dramatically change it.  But could it drive away its audience?

Here is the article on the Sci-Fi Wire website which is owned and operated by the Sci-Fi channel:

SCI FI Channel to become Syfy; “Imagine Greater” is new message

My own personal opinion is that I think they should not change their name or their image.  If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Susan Boyle – Britain’s Got Talent 2009

Have you seen this video yet?  OMG This British woman who went on the show Britain’s Got Talent is the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover.  Take a look at this.

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxPZh4AnWyk

Wow!  Just Wow!  Can you believe that voice coming from this woman?  Like I said, this is the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover.  Just so amazing.  I hope she gets far with this.

Stargate Infinity

I bought the Stargate Infinity complete series on DVD and it arrived today.  They didn’t have more than 1 season so it’s only 4 discs with 26 episodes.  Each episode is about 20 minutes and it’s a cartoon.

It’s neat because as a cartoon they can add bigger aliens that they wouldn’t have the budget to build and they also have little ewok type aliens but smaller than the Star Wars ewoks.  The cartoon can do things that real life people can’t do.

Here is the product description from Amazon:

Inspired by the blockbuster feature film and its two popular television spinoffs: Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: Infinity further explores the universe through the eyes of those few who are brave enough to venture through the mysterious Stargate.

This animated series chronicles a generation after the SGC first stepped through the alien device known as the Stargate. The war with the evil parasitic Goa’uld is won. The once top-secret Stargate Command and its work have been declassified, and beings from other worlds are living among us.

But now there s a new threat and Major Gus Bonner must lead a group of young SGC cadets through the Stargate to protect the life of an Ancient from hostile new enemies.

So far I’ve only watched the first 2 episodes but I like it.  I will watch a few episodes every day until it’s all done.  Right now I don’t have too much time to sit and watch the entire series at one time.

Bravo A-List Awards

The Bravo A-List Awards was on tonight right after Kathy Griffins new special “She’ll Cut A Bitch” which was funny as hell.  Kathy hosted the Bravo A-List Awards and she was so funny.  But that’s pretty much a given, she’s funny in anything and everything she does.  I personally don’t know why she’s on the so-called D-List because she deserves much better.

The very first award was to my future ex-boyfriend, Neil Patrick Harris.  I chanted his name from the second I saw that he was nominated for A-List Actor and he won.  Of course he got a standing ovation… well, I stood up anyway.  I was also drooling a little.

Tori Spelling won an award for a book she wrote (I’m guessing she had a ghost writer).  She was actually very funny, she said that she loves all the bloggers who bash her on a daily basis, calling her horse face and some other things but I don’t think of her like that.  I actually like Tori Spelling.  So if it takes me calling her a horse face to get her to love me then Tori Spelling is a horse faced whore who can’t act and she never eats.  Sorry, I didn’t mean that Tori.  I love you…

The Real Housewives of Orange County, New York and Atlanta were all there.  I have to say the only one of the group that I actually like was Gretchen from Orange County.  Keep in mind I’ve only seen a few episodes, I try not to watch it because as I’ve said several times, I may be gay but I’m still a dude and dudes don’t watch that lol.  But I do admire Gretchen because she’s the only real one on all of those shows.  I actually can’t judge the Atlanta bitch’s because I haven’t seen that one.  But if I did, you go girl Nene.

At the very end, 3 of the Kardashian sisters who were playing Kathy’s evil step-sisters pulled a very giant lever which poured a brown liquid which looked like chocolate all over Kathy.  It reminded me of Carrie but without all the dying afterwards and her mom didn’t say from her walker “they’re all gonna laugh at you”.  Well, in a way they did laugh, just not at her but with her.

I personally hate watching awards shows because all it is to me is a bunch of rich bitch’s getting an expensive gold award while wearing borrowed clothes and they get to go back home to their mansion while I’m stuck in the ghetto of Bakersfield.  But I’m not bitter…  I did like this awards show though only because Kathy Griffin was the hostess with the mostest.
