PSP GPS

WOOHOO I just read at www.pspfanboy.com that the GPS for PSP is coming to the US in 9 months YAY! I can’t wait. If the GPS is coming in 9 months the camera and tv tuner wont be too far behind. You know what this means don’t you? That will make the PSP the ultimate device.

As it is the PSP is a mp3 player, a picture viewer, movie player, game machine, website browser, cell phone and internet radio player. All we need now are the GPS, Camera and TV tuner. The PSP already has the camera option in the pictures menu so we don’t need to worry, just plug in the camera and were set.

EDIT: Ok, I just read some more news, the camera for the PSP will never see the US so you have to buy it from an asia website and unfortunately it’s back ordered lol.  But I have a camcorder with a SD card that I can do video on mini DVD’s as well as take pictures with the SD card so I don’t care about that but the good news is that the GPS hardware is coming this holiday season which is faster than 9 months.  It’s more like 4 or 5 months which is awesome.  I can’t wait because when we take trips I have to use my laptop for our GPS and it gets hot sitting on my lap and if I have the GPS for PSP I can just get a mount for it.

Skype for PSP

About a month or so ago Sony added Skype to their Sony PlayStation Portable but you have to buy the headset with the microphone and the remote control. Of course not long after that they created the combination for sale. Before you could only buy the headphones with mic by itself and then you’d have to additionally buy the regular headphones (minus the mic) with the remote control. You need the remote control for it to work.

I have started thinking about how maybe it is a good thing because if you have a cell phone and have unlimited calls that’s fine but I don’t. I have a pre-paid cell phone and so my calls cost .40 cents per minute. It’s especially frustrating when I am roaming. I think I should be able to call out for free on a cell phone like everyone else. Of course with Skype it is only free if you call other Skype users, otherwise you can buy time which is like 500 or 600 minutes for $10 which isn’t bad or you can pay $2.95 a month for unlimited calls (which is about 10,000 calls per month, they added that in there).

But you have to be in a wi-fi hotspot to be able to take advantage of that. I don’t know what T-Mobile has for you to use though. I was given a 6 month free wi-fi hotspot thing with the purchase of the PSP which I have not used yet because I don’t take it with me everywhere I go. I’m thinking that maybe the $10 phone card is a good idea cause I probably wouldn’t use it all the time and that 5 or 600 minutes wouldn’t expire after a month, you keep the minutes until you’ve used them up.

As soon as I get the money I’m going to think about getting the headset with mic from Game Stop and then setting an account up for me. I think it’s a good deal. And I want to see what T-Mobile does for PSP users per month.

Blog Just To Blog

I’m bored so I’m blogging hehe. I’m sitting here with nothing to do. I am thinking of playing with my PSP. I want to get on EverQuest but something is going on and I can’t log in and stay in for some reason. When I finish downloading Doctor Who then I will defrag and see if that will help.

I want to use my new pedometer but it’s too hot outside to go for a long walk. Whenever I go outside for too long then come back in I’m hot for the rest of the day but when I just stay in all day long it’s not as miserable. Then again I could get in the shower and use warm water then slowly turn the hot off completely so that the water is really cold until I’m shivering like a chihuahua then get out of the shower. Hmmm I might just do that. NOT!

Lego Indiana Jones

I got my Lego Indiana Jones for PSP game today and got a free t-shirt. This game is fun just like Lego Star Wars is. I’m really glad I got a PSP because it’s so cool.

I also bought some artist stuff at Michael’s. I bought “Cartooning Kit for Dummies” and it came with 6 colored pencils, 6 markers which are basically the same colors as the pencils, an eraser and a pencil sharpener. I was disappointed in the pencils because they were very difficult to erase. A regular pencil works better.

It also comes with a little 5×7 sketching pad with 50 sheets. The book is lame, it’s not even a book it’s more of a piece of paper folded a few times. I also bought a book called Superhero Madness which has “45 basic lessons for drawing cool heroes and vile villains”. It’s pretty cool. They also had these booklets that were totally blank so you can create your very own comic book. I bought 2 sizes, a regular typical comic book size and a pocket book size. Each with 28 pages.

I don’t know what I’m going to draw in them but I probably wont use them for a very long time, long enough to know what I’m doing first hehe.

My Birthday Part 2

Well this morning I woke up with Darrin singing the Happy Birthday song and he was holding a German Chocolate cake which was what my mother always made for me for my birthdays. He knew that, that’s why he bought it for me.

We went to the movies today and saw Iron Man which I really loved. Afterwards we went to Sears and Darrin bought me 3 pair of cartoon lounge pants (pajamas hehe).

His cousin Vedra and Venda gave me a black t-shirt with HWOODCATS on it and a box of Dewars candy peanut butter flavored. They are really good. Tomorrow I absolutely cannot wait to get my Lego Indiana Jones game for my PSP then we’re going to DQ for blizzards which I have a coupon that they sent me for my birthday for buy 1 get 1 free.

Off the Grid… Well, Sort of

I bought a solar charger that is small enough to put in your pocket and can charge your cell phone or ipod or psp or any device that has a a/c plug in it. You can charge it in the sun which takes about 6-8 hours to fully charge it or you can plug it in to the a/c or the car cigarette lighter and it will charge in 4-5 hours which kinda defeats the whole purpose of being off the grid but what can you do eh?

The reason I bought it is because it is portable and there have been a few times when my phone died because I forgot to charge it and I ended up in need of some way to keep the battery alive while still being able to leave the car (charger) to go into a building or something and still have the ability to make a phone call.

D&D Tactics for PSP

I’ve been playing this Dungeons & Dragons Tactics game today and I’m getting good at it. The last game I played I figured something out about healing that I wasn’t getting before and I lost the game because 2 of my characters died but that is ok, it’s a learning process.

Edit: I didn’t mention the day before yesterday that Darrin bought me Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics game for PSP on Valentines Day.  Thank you Darrin!!!!

eBuddy

I was looking at an article on “AIM Today” today (it’s called AIM Today and I read it today lol) about PSP (PlayStation Portable) and it was called PSPotential and it was like a list of 12 things you can do with a PSP.

One of the things was this thing called eBuddy which is a website and you basically can use either your cell phone or psp or whatever device you have, sign up with them and you can add all your IM programs to it like AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Gtalk and MySpace.

So since I’ve added all those things (I didn’t have Gtalk – from google – so I signed up for it lol) all I do is sign in with 1 name that I created for eBuddy and it signs me into all 5 IM services. And what’s cool is I can chat in an IM with someone or several people with my PSP. This makes it nice when I’m sitting in the living room and wanna chat with people.

Old Arcade Games

I was at the PSP page today just browsing through all the games they have on there and I noticed they had these collections and one of them had like 50 Atari 2600 games and so I looked at the pictures and of course it is indeed the old 2600 games which were so bad but to 1980’s standards, well, let’s face it, they were still bad then lol.

My cousins had Atari 5200 and it was more similar to the arcade games than the 2600 was. I was very jealous. My other cousin Stephen had a Nintendo and that was a bit cooler.

Anyway, then I found another collection called Namco Museum Battle Collection. That has about 20 games like Pac Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaxian etc. 4 of the games they redid for the PSP too. I know of 3 of them, Pac Man, Dig Dug and Galaga they totally redid to give them a little 3Dness so they look way cool.

I found it on ebay new still in package for like $15 so of course I had to buy it. I don’t know when I’ll get it because I bought it on a Saturday and it wont go out until Monday probably and it’s coming via USPS which means it will be longer than if it were coming via UPS or FedEx. That’s fine though because the mail carrier can put it in the wood box outside and nobody will take it and I wont have to worry about staying home for it hehe. I can’t wait to play Galaga and Dig Dug after all these years.

Games for PSP

We went to the mall today to pay for Chips Sears card and he decided he was going to buy me a game. I kept refusing but we ended up going to the Game Stop and buying a game but we came home and I played it and it was so lame. We are going to return it tomorrow.

I’ve been looking for a game that is similar to Tetris that we can play on the PSP but there are none. Or are there? I found on Amazon.com a game called “Sega Genesis Collection” and it has 28 Sega Genesis games including Sonic the Hedgehog and Columns which is what I had when I had the Sega Game Gear.

Columns is Sega’s version of Tetris which is a little different but it works. The other 26 games sound cool, I’ve never played them so it will give me a chance to see what they were like. It’s cool that there are 28 games on 1 UMD so I don’t have to keep switching the UMD’s. It’s gonna be awesome. And Darrin will finally have a game that he can play. He doesn’t get into all the games but when I got my Game Boy 14 years ago he loved playing Tetris.
