Well Fed Dog

We have a toy Chihuahua named Flower and this little dogs stomach is about the size of a walnut.  Maybe smaller.  Well, she is always so hungry and she acts like we starve her to death lol.  When I open the fridge door she runs in the kitchen so fast because she thinks she’s gonna get something.

I hate it when animals beg because they make you feel so bad for them.  I try to trick her by pretending I’m done eating then go lay down and watch tv but she’s smart.  She knows that the food is still on my desk and she stands by my desk and looks at me waiting for me to go give her some of it.  I can just see what she’s thinking….

“If you’re not gonna eat it, give it to me”.

No More Plastic Grocery Bags

I’ve been hearing this thing on the news about how the government is going to make retailers charge customers .25 cents per plastic grocery bag.  That’s why I bought all those reusable cloth bags from Albertson’s when they first started selling them for $1 per bag.  Whenever you go to the store with those bags they give you a .05 cent refund per bag so if you bring 3 bags you get .15 cents off on your bill.  It’s an incentive to use those cloth bags and eventually the bags pay for themselves.  Sometimes they have a sale like if you buy 4 bottles of the 1 liter bottles of Lipton tea you get a cloth bag for free.

I tell you that so I can tell you this.  We bring our cloth bags to the store so we have totally run out of plastic grocery bags which is what I normally use to scoop cat litter into then I put those bags into the 5 lb. buckets that the litter come in (empty buckets of course).  But since I have no more bags I have to just scoop the litter directly into the bucket then to keep the smell down to a minimum I put the lid on it.

Well, you know what happens when there are wet items left inside a closed container don’t you?  Condensation happens.  The lid of the bucket has sweat all over it.  Cat urine and feces sweat.  What happens when you open the lid?  The juices fall due to gravity.  Normally when that happens the juices fall to the ground but if your foot is right next to it and you don’t have shoes on because you are about ready to go to bed and this is the last thing you do before you go to bed, it falls on your foot.

Well, that happened to me tonight.  Cat urine and feces juice all over my foot.  I couldn’t do anything about it because I figured I might as well just scoop the litter and get it done fast so I can run to the shower.  I didn’t want to shower then scoop cause then I’d have to wash my hands all over again so I just did my duty then ran to the bathroom.

Thank you Al Gore for bitching and complaining about global warming.  See what you did to me?

LOL

Flower

We almost lost Flower today. We came home from an appointment and as soon as we walked in the front door I went to the bathroom and of course Flower was so happy to see us that she followed me in and the door was closed and she was stuck in there with me. I got out and she left and went in the living room and I went into my room and I remember seeing her eating a treat on the living room floor.

About 20 minutes later I was still in my room and Darrin came in to ask me if I’ve seen her and I said yeah, the last time I saw her she was in the living room with you. Just then the doorbell rang, some guy was walking in front of our house and saw a little toy chihuahua walking around on the corner and he picked her up and brought her to us.

OMG We are so lucky. She doesn’t have a collar, no tag because Darrin doesn’t want to spend the $5 for a tag. She could have gotten hit by a car. She’s not a very bright dog, there is no telling what could have happened. I mean, she let a stranger pick her up, that tells you how friendly she is and someone could have just taken her home with them. We could have lost her forever.

Never take things for granted.

Allergies

I don’t know if it’s allergies or if i’m coming down with a cold but I’ve been sneezing all day long, my nose is so stuffed up and it itches. I’m not feeling like I have a cold, you know that feeling where your skin hurts and you are groggy and just don’t feel like getting out of bed.

I think it might be allergies instead. I think it’s the dog because ever since we got her I’ve been sniffling more than normal and blowing my nose a lot and sneezing. I think it’s her. I’ve taken 4 claritins today and I’ve used doctor prescribed nasal spray and that’s not even working at all. I refuse to use 4-way nasal spray because I become addicted with that stuff and there is no end to it.

I wouldn’t say addicted, I would say that it helps at first and then you are using it more and more because it works for so long and then every time it works less time and you use more and it just goes on and on until you are on it for 6 months and you can’t stop because if you stop then you can’t ever breathe unless you use it. And when you do decide enough is enough you have to suffer for days until you can breathe normally again. No thank you. I will just cut out the middle man and suffer now rather than wait 6 months.

Different Day, Strange Dog

Well, yesterday morning when I woke up Flower was back to normal. I forgot to blog this yesterday but all of a sudden she was fine. I thought she was damaged but she’s back to her old self.

I don’t understand what happened or what was going on in her life or going on in her head but all of a sudden she was scared of us then next thing she snaps out of it. I don’t know.

We got that carpet steam cleaner and I used it today on the kitchen floor and it was wonderful, tomorrow I’m going to work on the carpet to get rid of the cat/dog pee and cat barf stain/smell. Darrin bought the pet carpet cleaner stuff. I hope it works out.

Same Day, Different Dog

I don’t know what happened. We were cleaning the patio off today so we can service our cooler because it was supposed to be 96 degrees today and Darrin bought a BBQ and I put that together in the back yard while Darrin was clearing the patio and Flower was out there with me helping me.

She was fine all day as we were working and then we went to the store for charcoals and chicken for the new BBQ and when we came back I heard Flower screaming. I rushed to open the door and she was by herself at the door. I just figured she was overly excited that we were home again after 10 minutes of being gone. Cause you know, 10 minutes is forever in dog years hehe.

So Darrin and I didn’t notice it but she pee’d on the kitchen floor and I went to go watch Big Brother and I went to go get some iced tea and look for Flower and she wasn’t in the house so I went to the back yard to see if she was out there and he said she wasn’t and so we came in the house and was calling her name over and over and no response.

20 minutes later I see her cowering in Opals room from under the bed and I had looked under that bed too and didn’t see her. All of a sudden she’s freaked out and I don’t know why.

I tried giving her a treat and she turned her face. She would not have it. All she wants to do is go hide and I don’t know why. Maybe when we were gone she was overly enthusiastic with the cat and the cat probably scratched her and that’s what the screaming was. I don’t know, I went to find the cat after I heard flower scream but the cat was laying by the chair by the patio door. I don’t know what happened. She’s laying on my bed right now and I know she just wants to be alone so I’m giving her some space while I eat some BBQ chicken.

Bee Sting

I let Flower go potty in the back yard and I came back in and watched Big Brother on the computer and I left her out there for a good 40 minutes. When I came back out there to go get her, she was limping and whimpering.

We looked at her foot and her pad was red on her front left foot. We immediately took her to the vet and they took out the bee sting and gave her a shot of Benadryl. She will be sleeping for a while (let’s hope hehe) so hopefully she can sleep it off and not keep licking it. Give it time to heal you know?

Toy Chihuahua Sweaters

Well I tried making some sweaters for our little doggy with the Knifty Knitter blue loom but it just didn’t work out too well. First off it’s too hard to put on her because you have to put it on over her head then you have to put her front feet in the holes then pull it down and the bottom of it was too tight to be able to do that because of the way I had to end the sweater.

The neck was too big and the waist was too tight lol. The sweater stretched too much too so it just didn’t look good at all. I’m doing it as granny squares now which will make it much easier to do different color themes for the holidays so it works out.

And doing it with crochet with squares it doesn’t pull over, it just sits on top of her and holds on with velcro in the front and underneath. As soon as I finish the first one which will be for St. Patrick’s Day I will put a picture on this blog plus in the crafts section.

New Name for Our Dog

Well, we finally decided on a name for our dog. Since she is a Toy Chihuahua, when she is sitting up she kinda looks like a meerkat. Darrin went onto the website for Meerkat Manor to look at the names for their characters and the female Meerkats name was Flower so that is our dogs new name. Taco didn’t suit her, Flower is better.

Chihuahua

Well, it’s day 2 of having this very hyper/needy dog. Her name was Taco but we don’t want to keep that name and we can’t think of a good name to give her. Darrin called his aunt Lavaugn (sp?) up yesterday and told her that he is naming her Lavaugn which made her giggle but he has since changed his mind and can’t think of a name for her. It’s not quite the name for a mexican dog hehe. In the meantime I’m calling her TBD. That’s “To Be Determined” hehe.
