Kodak

I sent an email to Kodak the day before yesterday and yesterday I got an email back from them asking for the serial number and the model number etc as well as my home address and phone number. I did the tests they asked me to do and it really pissed me off that all those tests sucked up an entire cartridge of color and black ink. That’s $22 of ink that is gone now.

Thankfully they are sending me a new print head because they think mine is defective but I wont be able to test out the new print head with no ink so hopefully they will send me new ink cartridges. I told them that it sucked up all my ink and so I have no more ink.

I will cross my fingers that they send me ink too and not just the print head. They are sending me an envelope to send them the defective print head as well and I will include the ink cartridges as well to show them that it’s brand new ink and it’s all gone. If they didn’t send me ink with the new print heads then perhaps sending them the empty ink cartridges will make them see that I was telling the truth and they will send me more ink.

Kodak All-In-One Printer

Darrin bought me a Kodak All-In-One Printer for Christmas 2007. He bought it on Shop NBC and it was a very thoughtful gift. It has a scanner and you can print directly to 4×6 glossy photo paper with its very own slot to keep the paper.

It has SD card slots for several different kinds of memory sticks so you don’t even need a computer to print your pictures from your camera. Just put the memory stick in the printer and it prints directly to 4×6 photo paper.

The scanner does a fantastic job scanning with its Kodak technology where it fixes colors and stuff. It’s a great product. It’s selling point is that the ink is cheaper. The black ink is $10 and the color ink is $15. Good deal right?

Last month, after I’ve had it for about 6 1/2 months, it started messing up big time. I bought brand new ink cartridges for it and it ate it all up and I barely even used the ink and it was printing with white lines and all of a sudden it stopped printing the red and yellow ink. Darrin bought another package of ink (black and color together is $22) and still no red and yellow. I cleaned the print heads with the basic clean and deep clean and mind you these are brand new ink cartridges and cleaning the heads ate up all the ink on these BRAND SPANKING NEW ink cartridges.

The black has like 1/3 left and the ink is less than 1/4 left and it has the ! exclamation point on it saying it is running out and I need more. I haven’t printed anything yet for crying out loud. BRAND NEW! This used to be a good kick ass printer, now it’s crap. All it’s good for anymore is for scanning, that’s it. And it was $250. What a total waste of money.

Update: Kodak did do right by me and they sent me a new print head which totally fixed the problem.  So please don’t let this blog post change your mind about buying a new Kodak All-In-One printer because it really is a good printer.

Craft-Lite Cutter

I bought this Craft-Lite Cutter from Publishers Clearing House some time in December. Yeah I know I could buy it at Walgreens and save money on shipping but I was trying to get good credit with PCH so hopefully some day I might win. I will be in shock if I ever do win.

But anyway, I ordered it in December with the mail in things they send me which by the way I stopped sending in because of that one thing that I never got. Well, I finally got it today in the mail. I do like it, it takes 3 AA batteries but since i have a solar charger it powers it up so no need for batteries. Sorry battery industry. I’m not going to waste good money buying batteries to cut paper lol. I’d rather the sun took care of that job for me.

Off the Grid… Well, Sort of

I bought a solar charger that is small enough to put in your pocket and can charge your cell phone or ipod or psp or any device that has a a/c plug in it. You can charge it in the sun which takes about 6-8 hours to fully charge it or you can plug it in to the a/c or the car cigarette lighter and it will charge in 4-5 hours which kinda defeats the whole purpose of being off the grid but what can you do eh?

The reason I bought it is because it is portable and there have been a few times when my phone died because I forgot to charge it and I ended up in need of some way to keep the battery alive while still being able to leave the car (charger) to go into a building or something and still have the ability to make a phone call.

Panasonic DVD Recorder

In January 2007 I bought a Panasonic DVD Recorder VCR combo (DMR-ES35V) and last month all of a sudden it started freezing on me. I don’t know why. Luckily it had a 1 year warranty plus I bought a 1 year warranty which expires in January 2009.

So I called Panasonic up after it had been freezing a week. I was giving it time to make sure it was the machine and not me. So I called and the guy had me convinced that it was me. I was trying to watch something I taped last night on the dvd-ram and every time I tried to pause it the numbers would stop (when I say numbers I mean like 1 hour 24 minutes, the time that I’ve been watching it) but the show would continue to play. I couldn’t do anything so in order to get it to stop doing that so I could pause I’d have to power off then when I turned it back on and hit play it started from the beginning 0:00:00 and I’d have to fast forward.

So I called today and told the guy I spoke to what happened and that I called last month and he said it’s probably the firmware. OMG Why didn’t I think of that? I asked if I could just download something and burn it to a cd? He said no, I’m going to send you a cd in the mail. I really don’t mind downloading it because it’d be a lot faster than US mail hehe. But, I guess I can wait. I don’t know if the download is old or not so I’ll wait.

Update: I waited months and they never sent it to me so I just decided to download the firmware, burn it to a dvd-r and loaded it into the dvd recorder and it did the upgrade.  I wish I had just downloaded it to begin with instead of waiting for months like a chump.

Ped Egg

Ok, you know those commercial for Ped Egg right? Well, they work. They work great too. The only downside is you have to buy the replacement blades because when you use it they wear out and become dull so you have to put in a new one but it’s only $10 for 3 new blades. It’s a good deal.

Next time I go to Walgreen’s I’m gonna buy 3 packages so I have 9 new blades. I already bought a refill pack and I’m on my 2nd blade so I got 2 extra but I’m afraid they will stop selling them so I want to buy as many blades as I can heh. Just in case you know?

The only thing is you have to make sure you don’t use it too much because when you expose the raw it hurts, it hurts bad. Just use it enough that it gets the job done then stop. You have it forever so don’t overdo it.

Make sure you use it while your feet are dry as it says on the directions then soak your feet after and use a Miracle foot repair cream. It’s got drugs in it which helps but wash your hands afterwards or use gloves. My feet are so smooth now and they feel so good. I’m gonna use it once a week.
