Kathy Griffin and Levi?

kathyleviKathy Griffin is all a twitter about Levi Johnston.  You know, Bristol’s baby daddy.  She has been blogging about spooning with him and even saying she is pregnant.

I love you Kathy Griffin.  You are so funny.  She just loves to hook up with someone who is constantly in the spotlight so that she will be in the spotlight (aka tabloids).

Anybody who is a big giant fan of Kathy Griffin (like ME) knows that she loves the attention so if it takes hooking up with Levi for some attention then you go girl.  Although in my opinion and in many other peoples opinions, she is already off the D-list so she doesn’t need to hook up with Levi.  I’m sure she could get George Clooney if she tried.  Or she could try and steal Brad away from Angelina just like how she took him from Jennifer.  Hey it could happen.

Kathy Griffin’s My Life on the D-List is over for the season and I can’t wait for the next season to air.  In the meantime if you would like to pre-order her book Official Book Club Selection click the link to visit her website and order it through Amazon or Barnes and Noble (BN).

Make Your Own Cigarettes

I woke up this morning to the sound of my doorbell.  I stumbled out of bed and went to the door and there was nobody there.  I said “hello?” and the neighbor kid popped his head out and said “oh did I wake you up?”  I said “yes, you did”.  He said “oh well never mind” I said “wait, you woke me up, what do you want?”  He said “I just wondered if you would do something for me but I know you probably won’t want to do it”.

Kid, if you know I won’t want to do it then why are you waking me up?  SIGH!  – by the way, he is 21 lol I call him a kid because he acts like one.

Anyway, he wanted me to go to the store to buy a pack of Newport Cigarettes for him.  Not just the store next door to my house but the store a block away.  I don’t think so.  It ain’t happenin’.  I told him no because I quit smoking in 1996 and I swore that I wouldn’t go running errands for people wanting to buy cigarettes like I did for people when I did smoke because I’m trying not to support that habit.  Yeah I know, douche ex-smoker right?

So I remembered when we first moved to Bakersfield we met this guy named Troy and he rolled his own cigarettes with this little hand-held machine where he placed a cigarette tube with a filter on the end (it looked like a cigarette but it was empty) and he put the tobacco in the machine and he did a slide motion with the machine and pulled the filled cigarette out.

So I went online and did a search for it and found 2 products.  They aren’t cheap.  I didn’t find the hand-held one but these are still good I guess.  There is the PREMIER Excel Cigarette Injector Machine at Amazon for $34.99 or you can buy it used for $20.  Then there is the Top-o-matic Cigarette Making Machine W/handlewhich is a bit more expensive for $79.99 but you can buy it used for $35+.  I’m sure that any cigarette store sells these for less than you can buy them at Amazon, who knows.  I haven’t been to a cigarette store because they opened right after I quit smoking.

But with these machines you can make your own cigarettes for $1 a pack.  That’s pretty good right?  When I quit smoking the generic cigarettes were .99 cents per pack with tax so about $1.07 total.  Hell when I started smoking in 1985 cigarettes were about $1 a pack for the regular brands.  Now cigarettes are like $5-10 per pack so I think that this is a good thing to suggest to my neighbor so he can roll his own for a lot less.

The reviews that I have read say that the cigarettes you buy and the ones you roll taste about the same.  All you do is buy your cigarette tubes with the filter already on.  Those are about $2 for a cartons worth of tubes which adds up to .01 one penny for each tube with a filter on it.  The tubes w/filters are all different.  You can buy full flavor or lights or menthol or menthol lights etc.

Then you buy your tobacco which is about $20 for a can or bag.  I actually don’t know how much they cost.  I went to PipesandCigars.com and found this one particular brand called Drum and it’s about $21.99 for the can.  I don’t know how many cigarettes or packs or cartons that rolls though.  But you can buy them in your local cigarette shop I guess, they will tell you how many packs you can make with each bag or can.

I am certainly not promoting cigarettes here but I can say that the government is screwing people out of their hard earned money by raising these bullshit taxes for cigarettes and I think that people should stop buying the pre-rolled cigarettes and just roll your own.  It’s time to give the power back to the people and let them decide how much they want to pay for a pack of cigarettes.

It takes less than 10 seconds to “inject” your own cigarette with these 2 machines I linked above.  You can make an entire pack of cigarettes in about a minute or 2.  Hell, you can just roll a whole cartons worth and use the box that the empty cigarette tubes came in to store all your cigarettes then go out and buy a tin that looks like a pack of cigarettes or a cigarette holder like they used to use back in the 20’s -50’s (remember I Love Lucy?  They always had those things).

Watch this video I found.  Oh, it’s not me by the way hehe.

Edit: I found out that the tobacco to make 1 carton of cigarettes is now up to $29.  YIKES!  But that still beats $45 for a carton I guess.

Stargate Infinity

I bought the Stargate Infinity complete series on DVD and it arrived today.  They didn’t have more than 1 season so it’s only 4 discs with 26 episodes.  Each episode is about 20 minutes and it’s a cartoon.

It’s neat because as a cartoon they can add bigger aliens that they wouldn’t have the budget to build and they also have little ewok type aliens but smaller than the Star Wars ewoks.  The cartoon can do things that real life people can’t do.

Here is the product description from Amazon:

Inspired by the blockbuster feature film and its two popular television spinoffs: Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: Infinity further explores the universe through the eyes of those few who are brave enough to venture through the mysterious Stargate.

This animated series chronicles a generation after the SGC first stepped through the alien device known as the Stargate. The war with the evil parasitic Goa’uld is won. The once top-secret Stargate Command and its work have been declassified, and beings from other worlds are living among us.

But now there s a new threat and Major Gus Bonner must lead a group of young SGC cadets through the Stargate to protect the life of an Ancient from hostile new enemies.

So far I’ve only watched the first 2 episodes but I like it.  I will watch a few episodes every day until it’s all done.  Right now I don’t have too much time to sit and watch the entire series at one time.

Farscape DVD’s

I just found out tonight from a friend that Ben Browder and Claudia Black from Stargate SG-1 were in Farscape.

When we first got our cable in 2000 I wasn’t really that into watching the Sci-Fi channel because I was addicted to Comedy Central.  But then after a couple of years I started watching the Sci-Fi channel.  I did see a couple of episodes of Farscape but I figured I was too late watching it because I didn’t have cable when it started and I didn’t want to watch something in the middle and wonder what the heck is going on.

But I’ve been watching Stargate SG-1 religiously every day at 3pm (Sci-Fi HD channel here is East Coast, then the regular Sci-Fi channel is West Coast so then I get to see it again at 6pm).  When I really started getting into watching Stargate SG-1 it was about the same time Ben Browder and Claudia Black came into the show.  I figure yeah I missed a lot of the earlier seasons but it’s on 5 days a week, I’m sure they will get to the end soon and then start over from the very beginning.

I was figuring I was going to buy the complete Stargate SG-1 series on DVD’s for $130 from Amazon so even if they didn’t repeat it again I’d have the DVD’s so no biggy.

Well, when my friend told me today about Farscape I googled the show and went to the farscape website where I learned they had 4 seasons from 1998 to 2002.  So I figured ok I’ll go to amazon and see how much it cost per season.  OMG They are so expensive.  Like $130 for the first season.  Hello?  Season 2 is $78.37, Season 3 is $99.91 and Season 4 is $126.99.

Holy crap dude!  Are you sure about those prices?  Then I went to see how much the entire series is with all 4 seasons, it’s frickin $484.99.  I can’t believe it’s that expensive.  I’m not buying that.  I could never afford that much money.

So, I guess I’ll have to just imagine how good of a show it was.  Maybe the dvd’s are made out of gold and diamonds.  Maybe that’s why they are so much money.  Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

There is a movie that I just heard about that is from Joss Whedon and family that I am head over heals for.  It’s called Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog which stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer.

OMG it is so good.  It’s basically a 42 minute musical (as by the title) comedy all about Dr. Horrible sitting in front of his computer doing video blogs and he tries to rule the city while Captain Hammer always tries to save the day.  But Captain Hammer is a pompous prick.

Normally you would root for the good guy but in this movie the good guy is a douche and you root for the bad guy instead because even though he is evil to the core, he’s still a sweet lovable guy who just wants to get the girl (gag).

Let’s face it, Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are perfect for these roles.  They both can sing.  Oh boy can they sing.  And they both do such a great job in this as their characters.

Dr. Horrible’s… was a little movie with 3 acts filmed during the writer’s strike of 2008.  I was told by a friend tonight about this musical episode that it was going to be a new summer 2009 show for ABC but when I went to ABC.com it didn’t show anything so I just assumed it was Hulu only.  Then I discovered that Amazon has the DVD for sale.

I also Googled the shows title and found the official website.  I’m reading the “Master Plan” and I see that it was only going to be available to see on the internet until July 20th 2008 then it’s gone from the internet forever.  But… it is still on the internet.

If you would like to buy it on DVD make sure you go to Amazon and to www.drhorrible.com to download it on iTunes.  They also have some t-shirts for sale for $25.

Nathan is in his own show on ABC called Castle which is on Monday’s at 10/9C and Neil Patrick Harris is still in How I Met Your Mother on CBS Monday’s at 8:30/7:30C.

Which ever show you watch you can also watch them at Hulu, that you can be sure of.

Electronic Glue

I found this Firefox add-on called Glue.  What it does is when you are searching for a book, CD or movie on say for example Amazon or the Wal-Mart website and you are looking at let’s just say a book, this bar comes down on the top of your screen with little icons which are pictures of people who have also visited that book through whatever website.  You move your mouse over their picture to see what they said about the book.  If there is blue around their box it means they loved it but if it’s yellow then they wrote a review.

I actually like it because it saves me from having to scroll down and read a lengthy review.  This allows you 140 characters so you can leave a short to the point review.  It’s a lot easier and if a person likes the same thing you like then you can add them to your friends list so that you can see if they like other things you like.

Edit: When they first started it was always the top but then they changed it to the bottom.

Kindle Comic Books?

I wonder if someone can respond to this.  I’m very curious about Comic Books being available on the Kindle 2.  I know that some comic books are full size like magazines so you have a larger page and if it’s shrunk down for the kindle will it be harder to read.  Or perhaps if it is available for the Kindle, will you only get 1 box at a time,  What about the bigger boxes that take up the whole page of the comic book?  That will definitely be harder to read.  Maybe it would have a zoom?  Or does the Kindle 2 have zoom?

I think it would be a cool idea to have comic books available on your Kindle.  If someone googles Comic Book with the word Kindle please respond to this if you find this post and let me know what you think.  Is this going to be available?  Would you like it to become available or is it just better to have them in paper form for their value in the future?

Just so that I don’t look like a complete moron, I went to Amazon and searched for comic books and found this Serenity, Vol. 1: Those Left Behind [ILLUSTRATED] (Paperback).  I see that it’s not available for Kindle so I clicked the “I’d like to read this on Kindle” link.  Yeah, I know, I don’t have a kindle yet but I’ve been clicking that for a lot of books just so they do become available.  At some point I’d like to get one, some day.  But that Serenity book says paperback but it is a comic book.

I looked up Spiderman comic books and they all say paperback and they all have the “I’d like to read this on Kindle” link.

Author’s Guide To Sue Amazon

I’m obsessed with the Kindle 2.  I can’t stop googling it lol.

I found this article about how the authors guild is suing Amazon because of the text-to-speech feature on the Kindle 2.  Because they sell books plus they sell books on tape so by having a text-to-speech feature available, they are giving away the audio book version for free with the sale of e-books.  But that is so not true because nothing can compare to the emotion in the voice of a person reading a book on a tape or cd.  It’s totally not the same because text-to-speech sounds robotic.  There is no emotion.  We will see what happens.  I mean, what’s preventing people from using text-to-speech on their PC to listen to e-books?  They aren’t suing Microsoft.

Games for PSP

We went to the mall today to pay for Chips Sears card and he decided he was going to buy me a game. I kept refusing but we ended up going to the Game Stop and buying a game but we came home and I played it and it was so lame. We are going to return it tomorrow.

I’ve been looking for a game that is similar to Tetris that we can play on the PSP but there are none. Or are there? I found on Amazon.com a game called “Sega Genesis Collection” and it has 28 Sega Genesis games including Sonic the Hedgehog and Columns which is what I had when I had the Sega Game Gear.

Columns is Sega’s version of Tetris which is a little different but it works. The other 26 games sound cool, I’ve never played them so it will give me a chance to see what they were like. It’s cool that there are 28 games on 1 UMD so I don’t have to keep switching the UMD’s. It’s gonna be awesome. And Darrin will finally have a game that he can play. He doesn’t get into all the games but when I got my Game Boy 14 years ago he loved playing Tetris.
