Allen Gregory

This new show on Fox called Allen Gregory has been so hyped up because it was co-created by Jonah Hill.  I saw him in an interview on Attack of the Show a couple of weeks ago talking about how awesome this show was going to be.

I have seen previews for movies that he was in but they never interested me enough to go see them.  Since I haven’t really seen him in anything, I didn’t really know him well enough to judge whether I would like the show or not.  I figured that because he was so popular that I was sure it would have to be hilarious.

Tonight was the series premiere and I was so beyond mortified.

From what I could tell, Allen Gregory who was adopted by a gay man voiced by French Stewart has been home schooled by his adopted fathers “boyfriend” who turns out to really be straight.

His adopted father is going broke so he was forced to send Allen Gregory to public school with his adopted sister who nobody really likes and comedy is supposed to ensue.

Because his father is going broke, he is forcing his “boyfriend” to get a job but he doesn’t want to get a job.

Allen Gregory and his adopted father treat everyone like they are second class citizens while they are the superior beings.  They brings bullying to a whole new low.

I thought it was going to be so great that TV would finally have a gay couple who were raising children but it turns out that it was all a big fat lie.  Only one of the two in the couple are gay, the other one is being forced to be gay against his will and I am feeling sick to my stomach thinking about how wrong that plot is.

Dear Jonah Hill, don’t bring gay people down in your sick twisted show by making them out to be these horrible people who are forcing straight people to be gay so that you can get a laugh out of it.  It isn’t funny at all.  And you are not helping anyone’s causing with all of the bullying in your cartoon either.

I won’t even go into how disturbed I was that a so-called 7-year-old child was sexually attracted to his principal who was in her 60’s.  What was that?  Reverse pedophilia?

Come on Jonah Hill, I don’t know you but I know you are better than that.  Oh and you French Stewart, I can’t believe that you would be involved in this garbage.

I won’t be watching this show next week, I can’t wait for Bob’s Burgers to come back on.

The Situation Roast Fail

Did anyone catch the roast of Donald Trump last night?  It repeated and I watched it 3 times.  It was just so funny that I couldn’t resist.

There were some very funny people and one not so funny person, the Situation.  I don’t know who wrote his jokes for him, that is if he didn’t write them himself, but assuming he wrote them I think he should have gotten some advice from a professional comedian to help him with his homework.  He didn’t do so good.

A couple of his jokes were funny but the rest was just tragic.  I really started to feel sorry for him.  If that were me I wouldn’t have kept going, I would’ve stopped and said “ok that’s my time, you’ve been great” then slunk back to my chair to sit quietly, or leave to go crawl under a rock for the rest of my life lol.  But he didn’t, he just kept going because he apparently thought he was funny enough to continue despite all the people who were booing him.

I don’t watch Jersey Shore so his jokes were lost on me and apparently nobody else who was there watch the show so maybe that’s why his jokes were lost on everyone.

His roast of Whitney Cummings was ok, poorly executed but ok but his roast of Anthony Jeselnik is where things went wrong.  He said that he was telling one of Anthony’s jokes to a super model while he was banging her with tons of money on the floor in his mansion.  Who says that?  Then he said he banged 5 or 6 more models.  That’s not even funny.  Was he trying to say that he’s a stud?  Because bragging like that just makes you look even more pathetic.

Well, despite this idiot, the roast was great.  Anthony Jeselnik was a great replacement for our friend Greg Giraldo who passed away last year (rest in peace).

Mike… keep your day job, whatever that might be.

Watch the clips of his suckfest then watch the funny clips on the Comedy Central website.

Target Commercials with Maria Bamford

wwwvh.youtube.com/watch?v=NCLyOdoBcE0

Ever wonder who this lady is in the new Target commercials?  She is comedian Maria Bamford.  I think I’ve seen all of her stand up specials on Comedy Central over the years, although she hasn’t had one in a long time.

What I love about her is her voices.  Her “normal” voice is like a little child, or at least that’s the voice she uses as her regular voice but we all know that it’s part of the joke.  She does these other voices that I’m pretty sure is her real normal voice.  I think she’s hilarious and I’m glad she’sworking at least even if it is for Target.

Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear

I woke up late (which is normal since I’m up till 3am most nights) and went into the living room and saw that Darrin was watching this rally in Washington D.C. on CSPAN. I thought, oh great, another Glenn Beck rally? No thanks. Then I saw it was Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Darrin was complaining about how stupid he thought it was but that didn’t prevent him from watching it all the way through.

I sat and watched it for about an hour with him then went in my room and turned the TV on and it was also on Comedy Central. I looked at the guide and it said Scrubs was supposed to be on. I wanted to see how much longer it was supposed to be on but since it said Scrubs I had no clue. Didn’t TV Guide know this was supposed to be on? I sat and watched the rest of it until it was over and it was pretty good. It was completely commercial free which is unusual for Comedy Central to do without some kind of brand recognition.

Darrin didn’t think it was funny, he complained about how Jon and Stephen kept interrupting the 2 singers who were singing about a train, he said it was completely uncoordinated. I had to remind him that it was part of a skit they were doing. It was obvious and I’m sure they rehearsed it.

There were quite a few singers and it looked like a fun rally that I wouldn’t have minded going to had I been in D.C., awake and knew about it beforehand lol. Then again, it’s a lot of standing, no thanks. I can barely stand long enough to do the dishes let alone stand in a crowd not being able to move an inch for 2 hours.

I actually don’t know for sure that it was 2 hours long and I’m sure those people had to wait several hours before it started. All I knew was that at 12 it was time to change the channel and put on Elvira’s Movie Macabre. I have my priorities you know.

In case you missed it, you can check in with Jon in the Rally to Restore Sanity or with Stephen to Keep Fear Alive. It was pretty entertaining and I appreciated what Jon said at the very end about tolerance and hate. Bravo Jon Stewart.

Farscape DVD’s

I just found out tonight from a friend that Ben Browder and Claudia Black from Stargate SG-1 were in Farscape.

When we first got our cable in 2000 I wasn’t really that into watching the Sci-Fi channel because I was addicted to Comedy Central.  But then after a couple of years I started watching the Sci-Fi channel.  I did see a couple of episodes of Farscape but I figured I was too late watching it because I didn’t have cable when it started and I didn’t want to watch something in the middle and wonder what the heck is going on.

But I’ve been watching Stargate SG-1 religiously every day at 3pm (Sci-Fi HD channel here is East Coast, then the regular Sci-Fi channel is West Coast so then I get to see it again at 6pm).  When I really started getting into watching Stargate SG-1 it was about the same time Ben Browder and Claudia Black came into the show.  I figure yeah I missed a lot of the earlier seasons but it’s on 5 days a week, I’m sure they will get to the end soon and then start over from the very beginning.

I was figuring I was going to buy the complete Stargate SG-1 series on DVD’s for $130 from Amazon so even if they didn’t repeat it again I’d have the DVD’s so no biggy.

Well, when my friend told me today about Farscape I googled the show and went to the farscape website where I learned they had 4 seasons from 1998 to 2002.  So I figured ok I’ll go to amazon and see how much it cost per season.  OMG They are so expensive.  Like $130 for the first season.  Hello?  Season 2 is $78.37, Season 3 is $99.91 and Season 4 is $126.99.

Holy crap dude!  Are you sure about those prices?  Then I went to see how much the entire series is with all 4 seasons, it’s frickin $484.99.  I can’t believe it’s that expensive.  I’m not buying that.  I could never afford that much money.

So, I guess I’ll have to just imagine how good of a show it was.  Maybe the dvd’s are made out of gold and diamonds.  Maybe that’s why they are so much money.  Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking.

Krod Mandoon

Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire premiered on Comedy Central last night at 10pm and I have to say it was hilarious.

It looked like it was a spoof of a show like Hercules and Xena from the 90’s.  Sean Maguire is very good in this role as Krod Mandoon.  And I have to say he has an awesome body.  His stomach alone is enough of a reason to watch this show.

It has an awesome cast of characters who are just so hysterical.  Especially the bad guy played by Matt Lucas who I remember from Little Britain USA which was on HBO.  He is just so funny.

If you haven’t seen the series premiere then you have to watch it when it repeats.

Currently it is on Thursday nights on Comedy Central at 10pm.  Don’t miss it because it’s hilarious.  If you don’t find it humorous then watch it to see Sean Maguire half-naked lol.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

There is a movie that I just heard about that is from Joss Whedon and family that I am head over heals for.  It’s called Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog which stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer.

OMG it is so good.  It’s basically a 42 minute musical (as by the title) comedy all about Dr. Horrible sitting in front of his computer doing video blogs and he tries to rule the city while Captain Hammer always tries to save the day.  But Captain Hammer is a pompous prick.

Normally you would root for the good guy but in this movie the good guy is a douche and you root for the bad guy instead because even though he is evil to the core, he’s still a sweet lovable guy who just wants to get the girl (gag).

Let’s face it, Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are perfect for these roles.  They both can sing.  Oh boy can they sing.  And they both do such a great job in this as their characters.

Dr. Horrible’s… was a little movie with 3 acts filmed during the writer’s strike of 2008.  I was told by a friend tonight about this musical episode that it was going to be a new summer 2009 show for ABC but when I went to ABC.com it didn’t show anything so I just assumed it was Hulu only.  Then I discovered that Amazon has the DVD for sale.

I also Googled the shows title and found the official website.  I’m reading the “Master Plan” and I see that it was only going to be available to see on the internet until July 20th 2008 then it’s gone from the internet forever.  But… it is still on the internet.

If you would like to buy it on DVD make sure you go to Amazon and to www.drhorrible.com to download it on iTunes.  They also have some t-shirts for sale for $25.

Nathan is in his own show on ABC called Castle which is on Monday’s at 10/9C and Neil Patrick Harris is still in How I Met Your Mother on CBS Monday’s at 8:30/7:30C.

Which ever show you watch you can also watch them at Hulu, that you can be sure of.

Rosie Live…

Rosie Live… More like Rosie Dead.

When Rosie O’Donnell was doing movies I liked her.  She was a pretty good actress and a pretty funny comedienne too.  I really enjoyed watching her movies and stand up comedy.  Then she came out with her daytime talk show.  Darrin and I watched it every single day, it was a standing appointment for us, we made sure we watched her show and we both laughed and we thought she was the greatest human being for all the things she did for people on her show.  She was constantly giving prizes away every episode.  Not just whenever but all the time.  She would shoot Koosh Balls at the audience during the show and she was on top of the world.  Then all of a sudden she got tired of it and quit and basically handed it over to Ellen DeGeneres.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Ellen’s show too but it’s a different respect you know?  It wasn’t as flamboyant as Rosie’s.  Like Rosie had the desk and it was covered with stuff.  Her set up was like the Tonight Show with the desk and chairs.

Then Rosie went on the View for a year.  Boy what a year that was.  All of a sudden she was pushing her views on everyone and not allowing anyone to disagree with her without her temper flaring out.  You know, it’s one thing to have an opinion and feel strongly about it but when you get into a fight over your passion for it then it’s no longer a talk show.  And remember, every action has a reaction.  Let’s say for example the fight between Rosie and The Donald.  What was that all about?  I mean come on.  That year on The View basically ruined Rosie’s career.

Now she started to go back to the fun days of having a variety hour show which I used to like in the 70’s.  I loved the Osmond hour and the Sonny and Cher show.  I loved those shows.  I don’t seem to remember the brady bunch variety hour.  It’s a very vague memory.  And apparently so is the new Rosie Live show because after only a few episodes it’s being canceled due to bad ratings.

I personally haven’t seen it yet.  I don’t even know what time it comes on.  I have a regular schedule of things that I like to watch every weekday and I think that her show cut into that time frame.  I hadn’t planned on watching it though.

I did like Rosie so I don’t want this to sound like I’m putting her down because I’m not.  I’m just saying that her actions on the view is what destroyed this new chance at a future career in this industry and in order for people to forgive and forget she’s gonna have to do a lot of ass kissing and start apologizing for pushing her view on people who have their own opinions and are passionate about that.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, I have views that I’m very passionate about like gay marriage.  I get so upset when I hear people telling me that I have no rights to get married just like a straight person does but I’m not going to let it rule me.  If straight people don’t like me getting married they have that right to think that.  But I also have a right to tell them to shove it up their ass.

The Family That Preys

We went to the movies today and saw The Family That Preys.  They said it was a comedy but I didn’t find it to be funny.  I thought of it more as a drama with some humor inside it.  To me a comedy is a movie that you are laughing while watching, I wasn’t laughing at all during this movie.  It was a good  movie though.  I wouldn’t say it was so good that I’d see it again but it was good.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl

I watched The Secret Diary of a Call Girl tonight on Showtime. It was pretty good. I was very surprised to see Billie Piper in such a risky role but she played it very well. I’m glad she is still working after Doctor Who too. I really wish that she was still on Doctor Who but that’s ok. I’m also very glad that we are getting that show here in America. I love British tv shows. I’ve always loved the comedy shows on PBS and Ab Fab and Doctor Who and its many spin-offs. And I understand why this show is on Showtime instead of CBS or NBC hehe.
