Another year…

Well, another year has passed. I can’t believe time seems to be moving a bit faster every year for me. It seems like 2024 would still have another 6 months left, but no, it’s almost finished. 1 more day.

What have I accomplished in a year? Well, my Etsy shop was very busy this year, busier every month this year since I started. Mainly due to a single item though. A simple friendship bracelet.

I added a listing for lesbian friendship bracelets with the same designs I have for my rainbow friendship bracelets, but I used the lesbian pride flag colors. I also did the bear flag colors and that wasn’t as popular as the lesbian. So this is the bracelet that someone wanted. They sent me a message asking me if I could make this bracelet and they took a screenshot from the Disney+ show Agatha All Along. I said let me see if I can do it and I opened up my friendship bracelet designer program on my computer and figured it out. Of course I did have to Google the design and I found it right away. I just had to change the colors to these specific colors which are the lesbian pride flag colors.

After I sent this bracelet off to this person, I decided to add it to my lesbian pride flag friendship bracelet listing and wouldn’t you know it? Some other people did a search for Agatha all along friendship bracelet and they found it and they bought it and so many people wanted this bracelet. I added three sizes so that it could accommodate small, medium and large.

Two people from Germany bought one (each) and someone in Norway bought one and someone in Ireland wanted to buy it, but they couldn’t afford the shipping from the United States. I got sales on this bracelet in many states and after making it so many times, sometimes everyday, I had to remove the item from my listing because I was in agony. These bracelets take time to make and they take a toll on my hands and my back.

I will eventually make up a whole bunch of bracelets for that listing and I’ll make a whole bunch of the Agatha bracelet as well because I know people will want it again. And I’ve already bought the string for it and have cut it and it’s all ready to go, I just have to start working on them. But I need a break because I’ve been working my fingers to the bone on crafts this whole year, and my hands are about ready to fall off. Not really, but you know, jokingly.

So other things that I’ve been working on are Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas box cards as well as a Christmas Advent calendar and also I’ve been knitting Christmas stockings.

The Advent calendar went to my cousin for his son and of course the whole family could enjoy it because I filled it with so much candy LOL. The Advent calendar is from SVGcuts and the fireplace box card that you see on the left side is actually from simply crafty svgs. And then there are two Christmas friendship bracelets in the front that come from an Etsy shop called The One Eyed Artist.

The Norwegian Christmas stockings are from Arne and Carlos. I posted about the stockings a couple of months ago when I made them. I’m making more because I bought so much yarn that I don’t know what else I’m going to do with it other than make a ton more stockings LOL. I’ll probably be working on these until it gets too hot to work with wool yarn.

I’ve also been reading a lot more. I made it a mission to read everyday no matter what. Even if I just read one or two chapters a day, at least I’m reading. I did the Goodreads challenge this year and challenged myself to read 30 books and I exceeded that by reading 48 books. I’m still reading a book and was hoping to finish it to make my Goodreads challenge 49 books, but I don’t think I’m going to make it.

There is one book that I have that I would like to read. That is the entire Wizard of Oz story, but it’s all one book which means there are 15 books that will count as one book unless I decide to add the books individually on Goodreads as I read them. It will most likely take me forever to read it because this one collection in one book is over 2,000 pages and I think I’m going to need to read it in stages lol. So I will add each individual book to Goodreads as I read them.

I have a lot of other books in my Kindle library to read, so I have no shortage of books to keep myself busy with. I also have a lot of books in my Nook that I can read as well.

I’m not doing the New Year’s resolution thing because I think that’s stupid. Especially when a lot of times people never follow through with it. They always say I’m going to start losing weight and I’m going to go to the gym and then they never do and they end up gaining weight. I’d rather just do it if I’m going to do it. I did lose 75 lb in 2023 with ozempic, and then it stopped on Thanksgiving Day and 15lbs have come back on gradually, but I’m still doing ozempic and I’m still trying and I’m doing my best despite the constant junk food being put in my face and constantly being asked if I want to go to fast food places. I have the ability to say no, but I don’t seem to be doing that very well. So that’s something I have to work on.

I am having heart issues because apparently my pulse is too slow. It was 41 the other day at the doctor’s office and they’re sending me to a cardiologist. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. I checked my Fitbit watch and my pulse seems to be around 100, but then I checked my pulse on my blood pressure machine and it’s around 40 something to 50 something.  So, I guess my fitbit is not really telling me my true pulse rate. I’ll see what happens.

Well, Happy New Year and let’s hope that this year is a good year.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7 inch Nook – Book Covers Missing

My Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook

I’ve been reading ebooks using a Barnes & Noble Nook since they introduced their first Nook ebook reader. This is my current Nook device. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7 inch Nook. I don’t know what happened, but suddenly the book covers went missing. I searched Google for the help and it brought me to the Barnes & Noble help page that said to reboot. Well, obviously that was the first thing I did, and I had probably rebooted 6 times with no change.

Then I noticed they have a list of retired Nook devices. I was like yikes! Is my Nook retired? Thankfully, not yet, but it is no longer receiving updates because it is from 2018 I believe. They currently have a new one that’s a Lenovo 9 inch tablet.

So one of the options was to reset to factory settings, and I was thinking if I did that, I would have the old 2018 operating system, because remember, no updates. So I can reset it, but I won’t benefit from whatever updates they’ve introduced to the Nook app.

That’s not a huge issue because all I’m doing with my Nook is reading ebooks. I don’t highlight anything or do annotations or whatever. So all I want to do is read my ebooks, and the 2018 version still has that ability. No problem.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook after the factory reset

So my Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook is back to the way it was 6 years ago, and that’s perfectly fine with me. I need to be able to see what the book cover looks like for me to be able to choose the next ebook I want to read. I don’t need anything fancy, after all, if you open an actual book, you have what you have and that’s ok. Books don’t offer updates.

Resetting the Nook back to the factory settings will actually help make the device faster anyway. It was starting to get slow, so I’d open an ebook and it didn’t open as fast as it should. And whenever I have to reboot it, it will reboot faster.

Yes, I will eventually buy the new Lenovo tablet because I do have a Lenovo laptop and a Lenovo desktop computer, so might as well make it a Lenovo 3 way, right? Eventually. Right now things are difficult for me ever since someone hacked into my Spectrum Mobile account and bought an iPhone which caused Spectrum to charge me the full price for my current cell phone, which was $888 which put my checking account $350 in the negative. I had to transfer money from my credit card to my checking account and now I have debt that will take me a while to pay off.

If this Samsung Galaxy Nook stops working, or becomes discontinued and they block me from reading my ebooks, then I’ll buy a new one. Until then… it is what it is.

V: The Original Miniseries and The Second Generation

V: The Second Generation by Kenneth Johnson. And yes, that’s a teddy bear 🧸 bookmark.

Did you ever watch “V The Original Miniseries” from the ’80s? I believe it was in 1982. I actually didn’t even see it until 1984 when they reaired it and then they came out with the TV series.

My whole family sat down and watched the original miniseries, but they weren’t as excited about watching aliens as I was and my mom actually liked watching it. So when the TV series came out, my mom and I watched it together in another room separate from everybody else. It was the one thing that brought us out of being angry all the time and gave us something to look forward to. Not just look forward to the episodes, but also look forward to the time with each other watching the episodes. So when I tell you that V means a lot to me, just know it really does. My mother passed away in 1993 and thinking about V really does bring back good memories of her.

Okay, so in the early to mid-2000s I bought 6 V books from a used bookstore. I actually had the first V novel back in 1984. Back then things were so hectic and I lost a lot of things, so naturally I didn’t have it anymore. But these are the books that I bought.

My eyes were getting so bad at the time that I really couldn’t read them. I ended up getting a Nook because my eyes were too bad to read. Of course, these were not in ebook format, but I knew I had them in my bookcase and I would eventually be able to read them.

Well, I’ve been reading more lately and I read The Second Generation with little to no difficulty, so I think I can start reading these paperback books now. Hopefully lol.

I feel so confident that I’m able to read these that I decided to buy more of the V novels on Amazon. I also have The Original Miniseries on my Nook. I actually had The Second Generation on my Nook wish list, but it disappeared and I ended up getting the paperback book from Kenneth Johnson. He is so awesome.

V: The Original Miniseries in my Nook library.
These are all of the V novels that I currently have as of right now. There are more coming.

Reading V The Second Generation gave me a new wind and I want to start reading these books again, that’s why I started buying them from Amazon. I will start with The Original Miniseries on my Nook, which I started reading a long time ago, but never finished. So this time I’m going to read it from start to finish and then I’ll start with the next one which is East Coast Crisis. I do believe the V The Original Miniseries from my Nook is the exact same as the V novel on my bookshelf. On my Nook I’m on chapter 4, and I opened the V novel on my bookshelf to chapter 4 and the words are the exact same in the first paragraph. So I’m pretty sure it’s the exact same thing, but I think the Nook version has more or new information, so I will read that instead.

I got hooked on TikTok I think in 2020 and it has kept a hold on my brain until now. I decided enough with the TikTok. I need to start reading again. V The Second Generation is actually the 8th book that I finished reading in the last month since July 21st. Wow, 8 books in a little over a month is a humongous record for me.

Anyway, if you have seen the original miniseries and V the TV series or even V the Remake on ABC, it is worth reading the books. They are so good and so easy for me to read with my ADD and dyslexia. They are also very fun to read. So if you are able to, you should read them.

If you are interested in watching V The Original Miniseries, it is streaming on Prime Video and Vudu. V The TV series is on Prime Video, Vudu and Apple TV. V The remake is on Prime Video, Tubi (free) Apple TV and Vudu. These are also on DVD and Blu-ray on Amazon, and I think I will buy them.

My Goodreads 2020 Reading Challenge

I haven’t been reading books at all lately. Last year I don’t even think I picked up one book at all. I am always getting emails from Goodreads with updates from other people, and I usually delete them because I’m typically just not in the mood to read, but I got to thinking, I really should. I’ve spent way too much time watching YouTube and not doing anything. I need to start reading again.

The first book that I thought to read was actually a book I had bought and added to my Goodreads account on September 3rd, 2012 called “If It’s a Choice, My Zygote Chose Balls” by Jeremy Hooper. I had also bought the audio version because they offered it at a really good price and I couldn’t pass it up. But I don’t know why it took me this long to read it. I read it in 2 days with the help of the audio book of course. I finished reading it on August 27th, according to my Goodreads account.

My next 3 books were from the same author named Daniel Sugar and they were about a witch in the Salem trial days. “Salem Burning”, “The Witch and the Guillotine” and “The Witch and the Revolution”. I read those really fast because they were all so easy to read. I pretty much read them each in a day. I love stories about witches and the supernatural.

Before I finished the Daniel Sugar books, I saw an ad on Facebook for another series by an author named Ward Parker and the series is the “Freaky Florida” series that consisted of 4 books. “Snowbirds of Prey”, “Invasive Species”, “Fate is a Witch” and “Gnome Coming”. I bought all 4 books without even thinking maybe I might just want to stick to the first book and see how that goes. I don’t know, I just had a feeling I would read and like them. Then before I even started reading the first one I saw there was a fifth book coming soon called “Going Batty”, so I bought that and he has a sixth book coming out early in 2021 called “Dirty Old Manatee”. It already sounds hilarious.

The Freaky Florida series follows a home health nurse named Missy who happens to be a witch and her patients are Werewolves and Vampires and really any other supernatural beings that need her medical skills. She also has a friend named Matt who is a reporter and they go on many adventures together in the series. They are kind of cute in my mind. I don’t know why, but my brain has assigned them the voices of Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) and Darrin Stephens (Dick York). I can even see their facial expressions and hear the expressions in their voices during certain scenes.

So I read the first one, loved it, second one, loved it, third one, guess how I felt about that one? I loved it. I’m reading the fourth one called Gnome Coming and I’m also loving it. Going Batty is my next one.

All of these are on the Kindle because for some reason there are some authors who only publish to Kindle. I normally buy Nook books, but I don’t know, I just thought I would give my Kindle account some attention this year, and not a moment too soon because the Nook hasn’t been operational since Sunday, and it’s still not working. I don’t know for sure what happened, but you can’t buy any books and if you had any books that weren’t installed that were in the cloud, you pretty much can kiss them goodbye until they fix the problem. If you were fortunate to save your books to SD card then you still have them. I wasn’t fortunate to have them all downloaded to the SD card. And it really sucks because I already bought the first book for my next series from an author named Michael Buckley called the Sister’s Grimm on the Nook and I won’t get the ebook until they fix the problem. So I’m pretty bummed out.

But I do have other books I have bought years ago that I want to read. For example I still have a ton of Xanth novels to read and the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I have plenty of reading to do, and I’m so glad I started reading again. My goal is set to 10, but when I get to 10 I will change it to 12 and just keep going until the end of the year. I am curious to find out how many more books I can read this year.

A bad month for electronics

This has been a bad month for me with electronics. Just a warning, I’m going to do a lot of complaining here lol.

Batteries: So my life partner mentioned something about his phone and he handed it to me and I was like good lord, why is it so thick? His battery had expanded or puffed up I guess you would say. This is the second time this happened to him too. The first time it was the battery that came with his phone, which he has had for a very long time, so in December of last year we bought him a new battery on Amazon that was 3 times as thick because it gave him, I don’t know what the normal batteries are, 4380mAh? Well, the new battery was 6800mAh, which was why it was so thick. Since it was too thick for the back of his phone to be able to hold, they gave him a new plastic one that holds the battery in place. Well, since he only bought this battery in December, I contacted the seller on Amazon because they offer a 2 year warranty, so they sent him a new battery. He had to wait a week for it, and in the meantime I was going to give him my old CR-48 Chromebook to use, and that battery had also puffed up, so that’s no good. Then the battery on my cell phone started acting up. It wasn’t charging, and when it did, it was very slow, also the speaker was not very loud anymore, so Verizon sent me a new phone.

Bluetooth Earbuds: I bought 2 pairs of JLab Audio Go Air True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds + Charging Case for us. After only a couple of days, the left earbud stopped working properly. I went through all of the steps to reset it to factory settings and nothing worked. Finally after a frustrating week of being told to reset it to factory, I just sent it back to Amazon and they sent me a new one. Then one thing I noticed is a green light on the charging case on my new one. The other one only had a blue light when it was charging. I even had it plugged into the wall for several hours, which was plenty time for it to charge completely. This new pair doesn’t seem to give me any problems. My life partners left earbud also stopped working, but resetting it to factory worked on his pair, so I think I just got a bad one.

Barnes & Noble Nook: So I’ve had a Nook from Barnes & Noble for more than 10 years. I got their original e-reader with the e-ink screen and that little color screen at the bottom of the device. Then I got a Nook HD+ and now I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 Nook tablet. Yesterday I was talking with an author on Twitter about his books which are about the Grimm stories. In fact, his books are called The Fairy-Tale Detectives The Sisters Grimm Series. So it got me thinking about Grimm’s Fairy Tales, which I own on my Nook. So I went to download it because it was only in the cloud, but it wouldn’t download. It kept telling me that something is wrong and to try again later. I kept trying, and trying, and trying. I did some research and on their website they said you need the most current version of the NOOK App for NOOK Devices, which I did, and the most recent Android version for your tablet, which I did. So I thought my Nook was the problem and I reset it to factory settings since it had been acting up lately and was starting to get slow. But apparently that wasn’t the issue because it’s on the Nook servers end. According to Good E Reader, ” The entire system has crashed and it won’t be fixed for a couple of days.”

It’s been a very frustrating month for me. I hope the electronics world gets their shit together because humanity seems to be helpless now without something that has only been in our existence for a very short amount of time. I need a e-reader so I can adjust the size of the text because I am losing my sight and I need bigger text. The text in regular books is too small for my eyes now.

I have the Amazon Kindle app installed on my Nook tablet, so at least I will be able to read Kindle ebooks until the Nook gives me all of my ebooks back.

Ok. Enough complaining from me today lol.

Wait… I’ve already read this Sookie Stackhouse book!

Dead and GoneI finished reading the 14th Xanth novel yesterday called Question Quest and I added a new book to my “Reading Now” on Goodreads which is the 9th Sookie Stackhouse novel called “Dead and Gone.” I wanted to start reading it last night, but I kept looking at Facebook, then I decided to play some video games and watch YouTube so I thought ok I’ll read it tomorrow at the gym.

Today I went to the gym and I got on the treadmill and opened my new Samsung Galaxy Tab a Nook and turned it on and tapped on the book image to load the ebook and I start swiping to the first chapter. I’m reading and getting excited because I already have the characters voices and their faces and their accents in my mind so I can read without being lost.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!!!

In this book the were community (werewolves and werewhatever) were basically coming out of the closet. I’m thinking, this seems a bit familiar. Did they do this in the series? I don’t seem to recall that ever happening. They had Arlene in there and it said she was in the Fellowship of the Sun and she freaks out when she sees her boss Sam Marlotte basically turn into a collie and she quits her job and I start thinking I’ve read this chapter before, I just know it.

NO MORE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!!!

Then I get to chapter 2 and I saw a bookmark and I’m like ok, now I know I’ve read this chapter. So I tapped the pages which is how you get to the sub menu for the ebook and tapped on the little icon for looking at chapters, highlights and notes and I noticed it has a bookmark for every chapter up until chapter 15, and there are 18 chapters.

I knew I had read a Sookie Stackhouse novel without finishing it, I just wasn’t sure. I thought it was the last book and I thought that I had already finished it. I don’t mind having to read this book again, I just hope it doesn’t take very long.

I’m glad I’m reading it again because I was really getting into the groove of this story. I was laughing a little too loud because there were some funny parts in the first chapter. Then I started reading Arlene’s parts in her voice and in her accent in my head and that alone was making me giggle on the treadmill.

40535928_10157768114500968_5734838069618540544_o

So after this there are only 4 more books in the series, which I’m sad about, but that’s ok because there are 3 new books from another show I’ve seen and I absolutely love called Midnight, Texas, and I plan on adding those to my collection as well.

Happy Reading!

Goodreads 2018 Reading Challenge

2018-08-26

I recently recommended books based on a Facebook challenge, but I myself have not actually read a book in the last 2 years. The last book I read was called Liar’s Blade, a Pathfinder Tale’s book, apparently number 13 in the series, which I did not know until just now. Before that, the last book I read I finished in November 2014. So, how can I be recommending books to people when I am terrible at reading a book?

I actually started reading 2 books recently. I started reading V: The Original Miniseries earlier this year in February. The Nook version has 595 pages, and I’ve already read 125, so I’m on chapter 4. I also started to read Question Quest which is the 14th book in the Xanth series and I’m on chapter 8. That book has 271 pages and I am currently on page 100. So I am at least making an attempt to read.

Last night I decided I need to take the challenge since I am recommending books, so I challenged myself to read 7 books, and I added 7 books to a new Goodreads list called 2018-challenge.

2018-08-26 (2)2018-08-26 (3)

I’ve been waiting a long time to read some of these books, like for example I bought Gladiator’s Master in 2012 and it’s literally been sitting in my Nook library waiting to be read, same with Question Quest. I stopped reading the Sookie Stackhouse books after True Blood ended, and I really want to go back and finish them. Splinter’s is a book that was recommended to me by the author himself when he visited and spoke in front of a group I belong to and I bought the Nook book when I came home that night and I guess I just never gave it a chance. Then this year I bought V, and read a few chapters, but that was it. I’ve actually been holding on to Queen of Sorcery for a lot longer, I have the Belgariad volume books which has 3 books in the first volume, and I read the first book in the series in 2010 after my aunt recommended it to me in 2005, I just never moved on to the 2nd book, so I added it recently for this challenge, and since I am reading V The Original Miniseries, I figure I might as well read the Second Generation while I’m at it, you know?

The order in which I read all of these books doesn’t matter, I mean obviously I’m not reading the first one on the list. These were listed this way based on the dates they were added into my account, not based on the order I will read them. And it doesn’t matter what I read first, Goodreads will only count the book for the 2018 challenge after I’ve finished reading it.

Anyway, I had to stop reading for the night because I have been reading for several hours today, and I can only read for so long before the words stop making sense to me, so I figured I’d write this blog post instead, and hope it makes sense lol.

Have you taken the Goodreads 2018 reading challenge? And if so, have you completed the challenge or are you still challenging yourself?

Edit: I’m going to cheat a little. I added a new book to my 2018-challenge list called Zombie Day Care because according to “Details” it’s only 134 pages. A lot of the books I’ve chosen to add to my list are almost 300 or in some cases almost 600 pages long, so in order for me to read 7 books this year, I’m going to need some easier books that I can go through quicker to basically catch up.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook

Samsung Galaxy Tab a Nook
So today has been quite the day for me. I’ve had trouble with my Nook HD+ battery not keeping a charge for quite some time, so I finally bought a battery from Amazon, and that bit me in the ass big time because now the touchscreen doesn’t work anymore. I removed the battery and finally got the touchscreen to work again, but then when I went to the gym and the touchscreen wasn’t working… again.

Lucky for me there’s a Barnes & Noble next door to my gym, so I went over there and bought a new Nook. This Nook is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A and it has 2 camera’s, 1GB of ram, 8GB memory and it’s small enough that it actually fits in my gym shorts pocket.

0824182333

My new Nook is my 3rd Nook so far. My first Nook is the original Nook e-ink reader with the little color touchscreen at the bottom. That was great for reading e-books, and it’s still a good e-book reader if I ever want to read a e-book outside, which is practically never. My 2nd Nook is the Nook HD+ that my life partner bought for me for Christmas 2013 and that has been a very good tablet for me, but I could barely install anything since it didn’t have a lot of ram installed, and most apps require 1GB or better. Before the screen stopped responding I scrolled through the Google Play store list of all the apps I’ve downloaded in the past and I think only 10 or 20 were even compatible with my Nook HD+. It’s frustrating when you want to use a specific app and you can’t even install it on a bigger tablet. So I’m happy to have this new upgrade. This new tablet is 2 years old, so it’s not new technology, but it is newer than my 5 year old Nook HD+.

So I bought a new case for it and a 64GB MicroSD card on Amazon, and I am glad I checked my order because I bought a case for a 10 inch tablet, so I had to cancel that. It’s too bad because it was a really nice case. I didn’t want to buy one from Barnes & Noble because they are $40 and I could buy a good one from Amazon for $10- $15, but at this point I just don’t want to have to wait because I’m afraid I’m going to break it on the treadmill without a case, so I will just buy a case when I go back to the gym on Sunday. I’ll just wait for the microSD card to come from Amazon.

I’ll be returning the Nook HD+ battery to the post office on Monday since our neighborhood post office is closed until then.

Nook HD+ Unlock Your eBook Prompt

nook unlock ebook

I went into a slight panic attack yesterday when I saw this message. I highlight several eBooks in my Nook, and I was looking for one particular highlight so I could copy the quote. I saw the quote in the “Your Highlights and Notes” app on my Nook HD+ and clicked open, but it wouldn’t because the eBook was no longer downloaded. I guess after so much time, your eBooks get deleted from your tablets to save room for more stuff, and to read them again you simply download them again. I can see that being a good thing, but I personally don’t want to have to do that. If I decide I will never need the book again then I will archive it, but otherwise, I see no reason removing it from my Nook.

This is my issue with this particular problem. I bought this particular eBook when I bought my very first Nook back in 2007, or was it 2008? I can’t recall, which brings me to my next point, the credit card number that was used is long gone since it is long expired and I was issued a new card. My credit card or debit card number changes from year to year or every couple of years, that is of course depending on if I lost my card and had to get a new one. At any rate, the card I have now is definitely not the same card I had way back when I bought this particular eBook. So how the heck am I supposed to download this again if I don’t have that old credit card number?

So this is what I did. I went to Google and typed “Nook Unlock Your eBook” and found a website that said to archive that eBook, then make it active again. I had to use my computer for this because I wasn’t sure if I knew my Nook password lol. It’s stored in my computer rather than my Nooks browser because I very rarely visit the Nook website. I went to Nook.com and clicked MY NOOK at the top, then signed in and clicked My Library. Then I found the eBook and clicked move to archive. Then I had to scroll up and tick where it says Show Active Items or Archived, and clicked Archived. I found the eBook and clicked Move to Active. I was able to download it without issue on my Nook HD+ after that.

I’m sure no one has had this issue, but just in case someone has and haven’t a clue what to do, this should help, at least I hope it does. If it did, let me know.

Happy reading! Smile

Minecraft Pocket Edition

MinecraftPocketEdition

What is the easiest way to spot an addiction? When you have Minecraft on your PlayStation 4, then you also buy Minecraft for your tablet/cell phone. Yeah… I have an addiction. I have it bad.

imageMinecraft Pocket Edition was $6.99 on Google Play, but I actually got it for free. Let me explain that. I have an app on my tablet called Google Opinion Rewards and they send me a survey every couple or few days that may pay .10 cents or $1 and change. The surveys are mostly 1 question, but occasionally they will have 3 or 4 questions and I may get more or less. I’ve been using this app since November and I’ve earned enough that I was able to buy Minecraft PE.

Today I decided that I would go to YouTube and check out some videos. I have to be honest, I only watched 1 video, and it was enough to sell me on the idea. The guy was talking about how easy it was to play on his Apple iPad Mini. He kept having issues where the game was running out of memory, and he couldn’t believe it because he had an iPad Mini. You’d think those would have more memory to play a simple game. Then again, it was from June 2014, so the game was probably buggy.

So I bought the game with my Google Opinion Rewards and I installed it on my Nook HD+ because it has more space and it’s faster than my Android cell phone. The game is very awesome and it does take a few minutes to really get the hang of since I’m so used to the PlayStation 4 controller, and not at all familiar with using 2 fingers (left thumb and right index) to control my character. I’m getting the hang of it.

The first thing I noticed was sunflowers. My PS4 version doesn’t have sunflowers! I would love sunflowers lol. It also has some other materials that my game doesn’t have, such as Diorite, Andesite, Poppy, Blue Orchid, Allium, Azure bluet, Tulip, Oxeye Daisy, Lilac, Rose Bush, Peony and one thing I noticed in the crafting table was Stonecutter. I’m not sure what the Diorite or Andesite is, but it sure would be nice if I did lol. I cheated, I had to look on the Minecraft Pocket Edition wikipedia page to get those names because I forgot them and their spelling. I saw the poppy, tulip and sunflower, but not the rest of the flowers I listed. I only saw them in the wiki page. I mentioned them because again, I’ve never seen those in the PS4 version.

I created a world and used an app called Minebot to mine 100 blocks down. Little did I know he would leave all of the good stuff free floating in the air in their original space. How the hell am I going to get all of that stuff? I didn’t think of that, so I’m not going to use that app anymore. I deleted that world because when I play the game, I want it to be completely honest. I want to earn every iron ore, gold, diamond, and whatever else I would normally have to mine for months to get. It’s less fun if I already have everything available to me. It means more to me if I have to work hard for my rewards. That’s why I don’t like to play in creative mode. What’s the point if I start off with a mansion with all the diamonds I could ever ask for? It ruins the fun.

I will most likely not play this game that often and save all the fun for when I’m either on the stationary bike or bored in a waiting room. Who am I kidding? I’ll probably be on this just as much if not more than I am on the PS4. I am that addicted lol.

This game doesn’t seem to have the option to share video and/or pictures on YouTube, Facebook or Twitter, so I guess if I really want to take a screenshot, I’ll have to do it the old fashioned way and manually share it through social media. I probably won’t do that too often, but never saw never right?
